Chase POV
The carriage lurched forward against my will. Sending both my mind and my body into a battle that clearly had no winner.
Married?
Married.
Married meant I couldn't see Muffins anymore. Even though all I wanted to do right now was to be in her arms.
Married. Damn.
I looked around the carriage. They all knew. Every one of them knew I was married including Jame. Nobody said a word. Nobody even tried.
Now, it was hurting like hell.
"You are a liar, Jame. You are a lying liar!"
Jame kept her head down. The only response I got was her flinching at my words.
Mordred sat beside Cora-James. She was pressed against the window. Her face was pale. Her hands were folded in her lap. She didn't look at me. Or maybe she couldn't.
Father sat across from Mother. He didn't look at her either. Instead, he looked at Beta Mordred.
"Did you send word to the Dragon King? About his daughter? Requesting a trusted ally be sent to watch over Tilly Ann?"
Mordred nodded. "Yes, Majesty."
