A spacious and luxurious office appeared before Kaiser. Inside this expansive office, a person was sitting behind a grand desk, gazing at Kaiser with anticipation filled eyes.
The person was a middle-aged man with an extraordinary presence befitting of a sovereign. His eyebrows were sharp, framing a face that carried a dignified air.
"I am the chairman of the board of directors of this institution; you may call me Jonathan."
Introducing himself, the man said. He spoke in a gentle tone as if speaking to his own close relative or immediate family.
'Chairman? Isn't it meant to be the principal?'
Kaiser cocked his head, momentarily confused. However, he soon grasped the situation. Although the school had a principal, it was still a position beneath the board of directors. And this man... Jonathan; was the chairman.
"With your position, why would you want to meet an ordinary student like me?"
Kaiser asked plainly. Although he said this, his demeanor lacked the humility of a student before authority. Instead, he gazed at Chairman Jonathan straight in the eyes.
The question made Chairman Jonathan laugh wryly.
"If you're considered an ordinary student, then there might be no other ordinary student in this world."
Chairman Jonathan smiled, "Meeting you is my personal desire. I wanted to see what a person recognized among that clan as an Unparalleled Perfect Prodigy is like."
His words were indeed sincere. Kaiser wasn't surprised. Although the clan rarely involved themselves in matters related to the world, they were an undisputed giant in the world. No other power could compare to them. And even those aware of their existence were limited to the highest authorities.
The fact that they claimed Kaiser was an Unparalleled Perfect Prodigy was enough to warrant the attention of the highest authorities. The 'Solace' clan was just such a presence.
"Now that you've seen me, I believe you're satisfied." Kaiser said indifferently, then turned away, ready to leave.
"May I ask a question?"
Chairman Jonathan said. His voice was calm and deep, no longer containing his earlier friendliness.
The atmosphere around them became charged. Unfortunately, that was unavoidable. The upcoming question held great importance.
"Why did you choose to enroll in this school?"
The man inquired.
"As far as I know, you agreed with the Patriarch easily. I would like to know your reason."
The question made Kaiser pause.
"Reason...?"
He muttered, seemingly confirming the question. Although he stopped, he didn't turn around.
"Yes, the reason."
Chairman Jonathan's voice sounded cautious.
"Although I don't want to say this, I have to admit. Considering the situation of your clan, staying in the clan would be the right choice, right?"
He paused briefly, then continued. "Your clan has invested enormous resources through generations to cultivate an heir. Be it material resources, finances, manpower, or influence. All of it poured into raising the Solace successor with the highest possible cultivation.
Compared to that, the treatment and conditions of this institution, while it has nurtured many talents so far, cannot compare with the average talents of your clan. Ultimately, it's just a 'school' compared to your clan." Chairman Jonathan emphasized each word deliberately. "In this situation, why did you choose to come here?"
Under this logical reasoning, Kaiser blinked once. Indeed, the chairman was correct. If one set aside aspects like 'humanity' and 'morality', and solely pursuing 'progress', staying within the clan was undoubtedly the best decision.
If so, why did Kaiser agree to enroll in Pegasus Will?
"I see." Kaiser turned around to face the chairman. "Is this the real reason why you wanted to meet me?"
The chairman wanted to ascertain the true intentions behind Kaiser's choice to come to the academy.
Otherwise, allowing someone with the name 'Solace' to make moves within the school would undoubtedly cause significant disturbance.
Hence...
"I won't deny that there might be such reasons. Still, meeting you is also something I sincerely desire." Chairman Jonathan smiled helplessly. "Please answer my question, Young Solace."
Kaiser silently stared at the man who kept his gaze firm without wavering.
A somewhat uncomfortable silence hung in the air between them.
Finally, Kaiser seemed to give up, sighing. His shoulders relaxed.
"It's not something secretive anyway." He said. "I came here for two simple reasons."
"Simple reasons?" Chairman Jonathan's expression changed. "Kindly elaborate."
Kaiser nodded.
"The first reason is associated with 'progress'." He said, surprising the older man. "Within the clan, I can no longer progress."
Hearing this, Chairman Jonathan was stunned.
"Unable to progress?"
Kaiser waved indifferently. "You've known for a while, haven't you? In the clan, I'm regarded to as 'perfect'."
Understanding the statement, Chairman Jonathan shuddered slightly.
"What is 'perfection'?" Kaiser asked rhetorically. "Isn't it simply because I've learnt everything I can, that I'm called 'perfect'?"
Indeed, people loved to pursue perfection. After all, being flawed wasn't something anyone wanted. However, perfection also meant that there was no longer any room for improvement.
"I've already mastered everything the clan can offer. Even if I stayed, it would only allow my uncle; that lazy man, to retire early and vacate his position while I replace him."
Then, he clicked his tongue. "According to clan records, the youngest clan head in history took the position at the age of twenty-seven. I'm ten years behind. I definitely don't want to shoulder the responsibilities of the position this early..."
Chairman Jonathan's mouth opened slightly, dumbfounded. The reason was simple. Although Kaiser phrased it like a fault, it wasn't. It was simply because he was too talented.
According to him, the youngest clan head was recognized at the age of twenty-seven; which meant he had already passed the age of awakening and became an Awakened; possibly surpassing that, even.
Compared to him, Kaiser, who had received recognition before he even awakened, was a true monster.
Wasn't that the epitome of Unparalleled Perfect Prodigy?
Chairman Jonathan's brows furrowed. "What about the second reason?"
In return, Kaiser offered a smile. "The second reason is also very simple. Uncle recommended this academy."
Saying that, he turned around and left the office.
Left alone, Chairman Jonathan could only smile helplessly.
Two world-class geniuses, enrolled in the academy. Although he could tell that there was a vast difference between them, the fact that they were prodigies was enough to cause an upheaval.
'Guilds and families would want to recruit them.'
Jonathan exhaled, rubbing his temples. His gaze shifted to the second folder on his desk, and the name written in neat strokes: Ariel Hilton. A storm was already brewing, and Kaiser Solace was only half of it.
