Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: Give him a cloth bag

Actually, when Wolfgang was besieging this group of people, it had already seen Elvius flashing by, but the skeleton at that time in Wolfgang's eyes was just an ordinary harmless dry skeleton, having no meat to eat and also having absolutely no threat whatsoever.

But now it was completely different; Wolfgang felt a thick aura of death radiating from the body of that singing skeleton, and the instinct for survival rose up strongly.

At this moment, delicious prey or dragon eggs or whatever did not matter anymore; Wolfgang did not even have time to howl to call its kin, immediately turning around and tucking its tail to run for its life toward the dark wilderness.

The other wild wolves were a bit slower in movement than Wolfgang, but after reacting, they also tucked their tails and ran after the leader, their speed much faster than when they were pouncing on prey, causing dust and dirt to fly blindly.

In just a blink of an eye, the ferocious wolf pack had completely disappeared in front of everyone as if they had never existed.

"Oh my, I just opened my voice to take a breath, I haven't even officially started singing the climax yet, why did they all run away? The audience is truly lacking in patience." The bizarre crooning stopped; Elvius lowered his hands, letting out a burst of sighs full of regret and disappointment.

Jasmine looked deeply at Elvius for a moment; the skeleton in front of her was still the humorous dry skeleton that she was familiar with, as if the terrifying aura of death radiating in that moment just now was merely a collective hallucination of everyone.

Looking at Elvius tilting his skull innocently, his eye sockets empty as if truly regretting that the wolf pack could not stay a while to listen to him sing properly, Jasmine twitched the corner of her mouth; her body which was tense suddenly relaxed, and then she went limp and sat flat on the ground due to exhaustion.

"Lord!" The Bull-headed man worriedly threw his weapon down and hurriedly reached out his hands to support Jasmine.

Jasmine waved her hand, her voice weak: "I am fine, just a little tired; resting for a moment will be fine." Losing face like being scared by the wolf pack until her legs were soft, it was best not to let these brave guards know about it.

"Check to see who is injured; hurry up and treat the wounds first." Jasmine hugged the Dragon Egg tightly into her embrace, sitting by the warm fire pile, and turned to instruct the Bull-headed man.

The Slaves all did not have proper combat experience; although they were trained rapidly by Jasmine for a few days before leaving, encountering such a ferocious and cunning wolf pack in their first actual combat was indeed too much for them.

Quite a few people were more or less injured a little bit; the most serious person had a large piece of flesh torn off his arm by claws, blood flowing and soaking his sleeve.

In the castle, there was originally a shortage of medicine; this time they went out in a hurry, so naturally, they also did not bring along medicine to treat injuries.

When the Slaves were injured in the past, they relied on their own strong resistance to endure through the days; they absolutely did not know how to treat wounds scientifically.

Jasmine saw the group of people being clumsy; after breathing to recover a bit of strength, she could only take the initiative to step forward and take over.

Now, for a moment, they also could not find any specialized herbs to stop bleeding; she could only use a folk method, which was taking clean plant ash from the fire pile to provide first aid.

She carefully applied a little bit of plant ash that had been let to cool onto the open wound; the guard gritted his teeth to endure the pain.

After that, she tore a piece of cloth from the hem of her dress and wrapped the wound tightly: "Endure it a little; as long as you do not move vigorously, barely able to stop the bleeding is achievable."

Those who were not seriously injured used boiled water that had been let to cool to wash their wounds clean to avoid infection, waiting for them to heal slowly by themselves over time.

Jasmine then told the Bull-headed man to take out the pot, using dry bread and a few beans that had been roasted fragrantly to cook a large pot of thick paste porridge, and adding a few fresh Bean Sprouts brought along into it, scooping a large piping hot bowl for each person to fill their hungry bellies.

Having experienced a tense and stimulating battle just now, consuming too much energy, the guards were all both hungry and tired to the point of falling apart.

Now that a bowl of hot porridge flowed down into their stomachs, warmth spreading throughout their four limbs, they finally felt comfortable and came back to life a little bit.

Waiting until the arrangements for the guards to rest were settled satisfactorily, Jasmine finally hugged the Dragon Egg and walked to the edge of the Dry Wood Forest.

Elvius was still there relying on the firelight cast over to him to be engrossed in drawing and writing something on several leaves; only when Jasmine called him once did he stop his movements and lift his bald skull up.

"Elvius, thank you very much for your help just now," Jasmine said sincerely.

Elvius opened his mouth, jaw joints clicking against each other, tilting his head slightly with a bit of confusion, and asked: "Thank me for what? I was only singing to practice my voice?"

Jasmine looked at him with a gaze full of hidden meaning, then laughed softly once, walked a few steps closer, sat down by the large tree closest to Elvius, and held out the exquisite cloth bag in her hand:

"This is a gift for you. Having a bag, from now on you can store leaves, no need to worry about losing items or the wind blowing them away anymore."

This cloth bag was sewn especially meticulously by the old Butler for Jasmine to carry the Dragon Egg; the needlework was very sturdy, the fabric material used was very good and thick, very suitable to use as a thank-you gift for Elvius.

It was unknown if it was an illusion, but when Jasmine handed the cloth bag over, Elvius's deep hollow eye sockets seemed to also open slightly wider due to surprise; a clear look of surprise and joy appeared on his bony face.

He forced himself to take half a step out of the boundary of the Dry Wood Forest; the bones exposed to the outside suddenly emitted a stream of beautiful gloomy green fluorescence; some fluorescent spots sparkling like fireflies rose from the surface of his bones, dancing around his person, and then very quickly disappeared into the night air again.

Jasmine widened her eyes in surprise looking at this magical scene, but Elvius, after receiving the cloth bag with two bony hands trembling due to emotion, very quickly shrank his body that was sticking out back into the darkness of the forest trees:

"Oh, dear Jasmine, thank you for your precious gift; I truly like it very much.

With this wonderful cloth bag, from now on my enthusiastic works of art can all be put inside and carried with me anytime, anywhere."

The honest Bull-headed man had helped him pick a lot of large and tough leaves; all day today, Elvius had cherished holding those leaves to write and draw without knowing boredom; before, he was still struggling not knowing the way to carry all these leaves with him when moving, but now with this convenient cloth bag, that annoyance was no more.
