Kai was confused as he saw his surroundings turn white. He knew that he still had more than six minutes to decide!
However, for some reason, the system had glitched and forced him to select the last Apocalypse he had tried to check.
Unfortunately, he didn't have the time to dwell on this as more system messages appeared.

Kai frowned at the sight of this new message.
"Versailles… unique talent... and gift packs. But only one? Out of ten? That's… cruel." He clenched his fists as he knew that this would be a tough choice.
The system had already forced him into an apocalypse he hadn't wanted, and now it was limiting his lifeline. He didn't even know how he would start, whether he'd wake up in a ruined city, a forest, or a battlefield.
After all, he already realized the concept of this Apocalypse… It felt like the people of Earth were thrown into a game.
They were given choices and were transported to a different land depending on their chosen Apocalypse. It truly was like a game!
Then, Kai's eyes lit up as he recalled the previous message that he would be at a random starting region.
'Right, a starting region. That must be the 'novice village' or something…' He mused. At the very least, it means that they should be a bit safe at the beginning stage of this Apocalypse.
He hoped so...
Still, he would be given a Unique Talent later. So he could only look forward to that.
After taking a deep breath, Kai began assessing each option carefully.
Thankfully, the system also provided information about their contents. The information wasn't too specific in numbers and other details, but it was more than enough to get a general idea of what they could expect inside.

Kai hesitated at this time. This was too important.
"Food is critical… but without water, this won't last long. And mayonnaise? Who thought that was essential?"

Contents: first aid kit, painkillers, antibiotics, bandages. ]
Kai nodded slightly… He knew that this one was also a solid option. Injuries are inevitable, and having a first aid kit was definitely good. However, if they only had one choice, there was no way anyone would select it.

He looked at the shelter or the stealth pack, and he knew that if he couldn't fight, he could hide. But camouflage only works if the enemy relies on sight. What if the A.I. tracks heat or sound?
Kai then turned to the Survival Tools.
"Classic survival gear. They look reliable, but basic. This feels like something for camping, not an apocalypse. Still, it's better than nothing."
He then turned to the next batch of Gift Packs.

Contents: folding bicycle, helmet, lock, and repair kit. ]
[ Water Gift Pack (Basic)
Contents: water filter, filled bottles, purification tablets, collapsible bucket. ]
The contents of these two were simply too limited. Even if they were good, it felt wrong to select them.
After all, water could be collected from rain and other sources as long as his starting region wasn't a desert.
Finally, he turned to the last.

Contents: revolver with six bullets, holster, extra ammo, hatchet. ]
Kai stared at the description. "Finally, something practical. But the extra ammo… I wonder how much there is. Once it's gone, I'd be left with just the hatchet. A short-term solution, at best."
Kai couldn't deny the gun's usefulness. If he encountered other survivors who had chosen the same Apocalypse, conflict was inevitable. In countless scenarios, having such a weapon could make the difference
However, every pack has flaws.
"Tsk... Why do I only get one? One mistake here, and I'm dead before I even start."
The countdown ticked down.

Kai felt frustrated.
"Damn it. I don't even know what kind of environment I'll end up with. Choosing blind is the worst part."
If the timer runs out without him choosing any Gift Pack, he might not get anything at all!
So after a couple more minutes, Kai had to make a decision...
