Kai quickly checked the panel, his eyes focused on the Talent section.
[ Talent: Infinite Gift Pack (SSS) ]
'Triple S, huh.' Kai was filled with excitement. He knew in many games that the rarity SSS was definitely the best out there!
"Let's see…" he muttered as he tapped the talent to see the description.
[ Infinite Gift Pack (SSS): You can claim an unlimited number of Gift Packs at any time. There are no restrictions on frequency, quantity, or type. This talent grants continuous access to supplies, ensuring that Gift Packs are always available whenever you choose to obtain them. ]
Kai was stunned. Although he already expected it, considering the name of the talent, he still felt shocked.
"Unlimited… Gift Packs?"
His heart raced as the words sank in. He could actually hear his heart beating loudly. This was a great talent in his opinion.
After all, he could obtain as many Gift Packs as he wanted. There were no cooldowns or any limits!
Well, there were no other effects like giving him more strength or some other flashy powers, but still… this was absurd.
A grin spread across his face.
"This is insane. Even if it doesn't make me stronger directly, having unlimited supplies… that's more than enough to survive."
He clenched his fists as he calmed himself.
Now, he would have endless food, tools, and gear. It would be repetitive, but it was alright! It meant that he could stockpile, prepare, and adapt to anything.
Still, his smile faded slightly as he remembered the warning about the upcoming Mech Siege. "Resources alone won't win against machines. I'll need firepower… strategy… maybe allies. I have three days of Beginner Protection to figure this out."
Kai closed the panel, then hesitated. "…Wait. If it's really unlimited, I should test it now."
[ Gift Pack Selection ]
The message appeared as he used his Talent by using his mind.
Suddenly, he got the message.
[ Basic Gift Pack Selection ]
[ Energy Gift Pack ]
[ Entertainment Gift Pack ]
[ Food Gift Pack ]
[ Medical Gift Pack ]
[ Shelter Gift Pack ]
[ Stealth Gift Pack ]
[ Survival Tools Gift Pack ]
[ Transport Gift Pack ]
[ Water Gift Pack ]
[ Weapon Gift Pack ]
"Wait… It says here, Basic Gift Pack Selection… Will there be Intermediate or Advanced gift packs?" Kai muttered as he noticed how it was worded. This gave him a little hope that he might be getting something better.
After all, he just realized that the A.I. enemies might be using some androids or mech drones… Using a pistol or a hatchet against them might be a bit too difficult!
Nonetheless, he swiftly selected the weapon's pack.
[ You have claimed a Weapons Gift Pack (Basic). ]
Just like that, he confirmed it in his Inventory.
[ Inventory:
Survival Tool Gift Pack (Basic) x1
Weapons Gift Pack (Basic) x1 ]
Kai gently nodded after seeing this.
"It worked… I actually got another pack."
He then crouched down and opened the Survival Tool Gift Pack first as he tapped it from his inventory.
He soon received a warning.
[ Do you want to open the Survival Tool Gift Pack? ]
Kai didn't hesitate and tapped yes…
A faint glow appeared before it turned into solid objects. Just like that, all the contents appeared neatly before him.
The rope was coiled tightly… It seemed rough but sturdy. He unwound it slightly, testing the fibers with his fingers, and made a rough estimate.
"So it's around ten meters… not bad," he muttered, satisfied that it was long enough for climbing or binding. This detail wasn't included in the description after all.
Next, he checked the thermal blanket. He unfolded it carefully. It was larger than he expected, big enough to cover his entire body and even wrap around him twice if needed.
"This could keep me alive on freezing nights," he thought, folding it back into a compact square.
The fire starter was small but efficient. It was a magnesium rod with a striker. He tested the weight in his hand and imagined the sparks flying when scraped. It felt solid enough.
On the other hand, the compass was just as he had expected.
Then, he turned to the pocket knife, and it clicked open smoothly, its blade was sharp too…
Finally, the whistle… It was something he didn't want to use, considering how it could attract survivors and enemies alike.
He then opened the Weapons Gift Pack.
He first checked the revolver…
"…Well," Kai's lips curled into a helpless smile. He wanted it to be a standard handgun or something modern, maybe semi-automatic. But he could still accept it. He just needed to be careful of its recoil.
Kai then checked the cylinder. Six bullets were already loaded, just like the description said. Next to it was a small box of extra ammunition. He counted quickly.
"Twelve rounds… not bad."
The holster was plain leather, durable enough to strap to his belt.
He slid the revolver into it, adjusting until it rested tightly against his hip.
Lastly, the hatchet he got was small, but it was certainly heavy. He also confirmed that its edge was sharp enough to split wood or bone.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
He gave it a few test swings before hooking it into his belt. Then, he planned to return the other items to his inventory, but unfortunately, it wasn't allowed.
[ Notice: Items obtained from Gift Packs cannot be returned to Inventory. ]
Kai rolled his eyes as he saw the picky system.
In any case, he glanced at his pants… He had six pockets in total.
He distributed the smaller items carefully… The compass and whistle in his left pocket, the fire starter and pocket knife in his right. The rope he looped and tied to his belt, while the folded blanket.
As for the folded thermal blanket, Kai decided not to carry it for now.
Instead, he placed it neatly on the ground to mark his "spawn point." The wind tugged at its edges, threatening to lift it away, so he crouched down and slid the blanket halfway under a mound of trash.
To be sure, he grabbed a broken chair leg nearby and pressed it firmly across the top, pinning the blanket in place.
"There," he muttered.
It wasn't elegant, but at least the blanket wouldn't fly off or vanish in the shifting garbage.
Now he had a clear marker to remind him where he had first arrived.
