Chapter 24 - Demonic War

[SSS-Rank Demonic Judgement Rays has been converted!]

White glyphs spiraled briefly across Terrence's vision before collapsing inward, the sensation was sharp and clean. Like something corrupted had just been forcibly corrected.

His eyes widened a fraction.

'So that's what it does..'

Not a simple conversion or a rename.

A redefinition.

[One of the effects. There's more to uncover.]

Terrence smirked internally, half-amused, half-impressed.

'Erin's mother must've been an angel in disguise because no way-'

"You should pay more attention to what's in front of you, human!"

The roar shook the molten ground as two Elite Demon Generals lunged at once, massive blazing greatswords tearing through the air in overlapping arcs of hellfire-

CLING.

The impact rang out like a cathedral bell shattering.

A single, larger greatsword that was glowing purple-black with runes crawling along its edge, caught both strikes effortlessly.

The demon generals froze.

Their eyes widened.

They weren't facing Terrence anymore.

They were surrounded.

Golden shadows stood everywhere. They were silent, looming, and predatory.

At the center, a tall, cold-faced Werewolf Shadow, his golden fur etched with faint sigils, held the blade steady with one hand. The two demon generals strained against him, muscles bulging, veins burning-

And still couldn't move him an inch.

"Tch-" the Werewolf clicked his tongue, crimson eyes narrowing.

"You told my Master to pay attention to what's in front of him.."

He leaned in slightly, voice low and disdainful.

"while being completely unaware of what's surrounding you."

"Wha-"

"HAH!"

A blur of motion slammed into the left demon general.

An average-sized but monstrously built Goblin Shadow leapt onto his back, laughing like a lunatic as a crimson dagger flashed again and again-

STAB. STAB. STAB.

"HAHAHAHA! THIS IS THE GOOD PART!"

The demon screamed, thrashing wildly, trying to rip the goblin off-

He couldn't.

The Goblin Shadow was too strong.

"GO! GO! GO!" the second Elite Demon General roared toward the demon army behind him.

He tore himself free from the Werewolf's blade and leapt backward-

Right into the arms of another smirking Werewolf Shadow.

The world inverted.

WHAM.

A perfect German Suplex.

The demon general's head slammed into the molten ground and it detonated on impact, skull and armor vaporizing as shockwaves rippled outward.

Nearby, a Nobody Hunter Shadow danced between the slashing claws of a towering, eight-legged, flaming demon. It's human-like face split wide as rows of jagged, shark-like teeth parted.

A blast of hellfire began charging in its throat.

The Nobody Hunter tilted its head.

And smiled like the Statue of God in Solo Leveling.

It jumped straight into the demon's mouth.

The demon's four red eyes widened.

STOMP.

BOOOOM!

A massive golden skeletal foot came down from above, crushing the demon flat like an overinflated balloon. Its legs exploded outward, impaling other demons mid-sprint like thrown spears.

"Damn.." Terrence muttered, watching the carnage with genuine appreciation.

"I'd give that a Smokin' Sexy Style ranking."

Maniacal laughter erupted beside him.

"Hahahaha! I LIVE for this shit!"

Ariel stood there grinning like a lunatic, Everchangeling fully transformed into a roaring minigun, golden casings raining down as streams of bullets shredded hellhounds and insectoid demons alike.

She was way too happy.

The bullets curved unnaturally midair, cleanly avoiding the swarming Roach Shadows while carving through every demon in range.

She didn't even have to aim.

The weapon knew.

[Look at Eiselle and Treasure over there!]

Terrence turned.

Eiselle now stood cloaked in motion. Her hair was now jet black, eyes glowing crimson, wielding an obsidian-black, reaper-like scythe that screamed death with every swing.

She moved like a serial killer Ruby Rose on bath salts.

Treasure fought beside her. She was the berserker martial artist. She used her fists, elbows, and knees to crush demons apart with brutal precision. More Eternal Shadows flowed around them like an execution squad.

Terrence noticed the change in Eiselle's appearance and decided he would ask questions later. Everything right now was glorious chaos.

He rolled his shoulders once, golden rings spinning faintly in his eyes.

"..Guess it's my turn to get back in the fight."

And honestly?

What better way to do it than testing out his brand-new skill.

[SSS-Rank: Divine Judgment Rays LV.1 has activated!]

The air answered.
