"I feel sorry for Thomas..."

Earlier that morning, Zade had joined a group of his colleagues to pay a visit to Thomas in the mortuary. Safe to say, Thomas's body was nearly impossible to look at.
"I still cannot believe this happened..."
"It's so brutal."
"And the damn police are so useless. A murder out of nowhere, and who knows who will be killed next?"
Zade had no doubt in his mind now; it was murder.
And it was done with horrifying brutality.
Thomas's back was crisscrossed with raised, bloody welts, as if he had been systematically whipped.
One of his legs was almost completely severed at the joint, dangling by a fragile string of tissue. The killer had likely failed to finish the hack job, or simply grown tired and walked away.
His arms were a chaotic tapestry of deep, jagged lacerations. There wasn't a single inch of skin untouched by violence.
Even his private parts had been targeted.
