Chapter 5 - A Monster's Needs

"Who are you?! What do you want from me?!" I shouted.

The woman named Luna lifted herself away from me and tilted her head to the side as if she was amused.

"Now, now. Don't get yourself so worked up! Like I said, [hic] just leave it all to me," she replied.

Yeah, right! You have knives for teeth, and what about that look on your face! You're licking your lips without even realising! I'm not going to be your dinner!

"Oh! Could it be that this is your first time? It is for me, too, actually," she said, her pale cheeks gaining a rosy tinge.

"Just relax," she said gently.

Her violet eyes shimmered, and all of the hairs on my body that stood to resist her felt as though they were lulled into a state of calm. A faint purple haze emanated from her mouth and washed over me. As if I had complied with her words, my body suddenly felt at ease.

"We may both be a little clumsy," she continued, "But we have to make sure we both do it right so that this works. Okay?"

'It'? 'First time'? Of what? Surely she doesn't mean… THAT right?

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes in an attempt to ground myself. No matter how hard I tried to reason her presence in my mind, I just couldn't process any of it. Eye contact with her made me nervous, especially when she was just inches from my face. I needed to figure out a logical escape.

I can't overpower her. So do I trick her? Do I hear her out? In any case, I just don't want to be eaten!

"But if you must feign such ignorance," she continued, "Let me assure you that I'm not like any of the others that usually get summoned. I'm special."

I opened my eyes slowly, perturbed by the riddles that she spoke in.

"Huh? Summoning? Just what on earth are you on about? And what's all this about me becoming your servant?! I don't agree to any of that!"

"You really must be completely fresh," she sighed, one eyebrow raised.

"Look, Ms. Luna, I'm sorry, but you realise just how insane this is, right? So, can you stop with all the cryptic talk and get off of me, or tell me exactly who you are and what you want with me? If this goes on any longer, I'll have to call the police..."

She hung her head and sighed once more.

"Haaah. Okay. Well, if I really must spell it out for you, I'm a succubus… but the blood of a vampire runs through me also." she said, then paused to let it sink in.

All I could do was bat my eyelids in disbelief.

This… This woman is absurd! Succubus? Vampire?!Those fictional beings?!She expects me to believe that? She's clearly lost it. Yeah, and I'm the Emperor of Japan!

"I'm sorry that I may not be what you were expecting, arriving here in my mother's stead and all, but as the heiress of the house, [hic] I'm just as capable as she is!" she exclaimed.

I took a deep breath, now certain that this all had to be either some sort of grand misunderstanding. Was this a role play that she was supposed to play with a boyfriend or something, and she got the wrong room? Was it a prank? Or was all the stress getting to me, culminating in this one, extremely vivid dream? The latter seemed to be the only possibility.

I've woken up crying from nightmares before, so it's also possible that everything I'm experiencing right now is just in my head. Yeah. I'm probably just hallucinating this.

"Okay, look. I don't know how you got in here, but I don't believe in vampires or whatever. In fact, I don't think any of this is even real. So with that–"

"But you saw me come out from the wall, no?" she interrupted.

"Well, yes, but you're not real. I'm practically talking to myself in this dream right now."

"I see."

She let go of my wrists and slowly brought my hands towards her, gently pressing my palms against her chest.

Is this–?!

It took me a second to feel it, but on the other side of her corset and beneath her porcelain skin was a racing heartbeat.

"But you feel this, no?"

It was incredibly soft, and the first time I'd ever touched any person there, let alone a woman. Her eyes focused only on my hands that she pressed against herself.

My denial began to crumble as the reality began to crash through my brittle walls of logic like a sledgehammer.

"..."

"It's my first time, too, so I might be a little clumsy… But, if you still don't believe that I'm real… I can show you these," she said quietly, her hands covering her chest.

She reached around to the back of her corset and fiddled with something. My hands, now completely free, rested exactly where she'd left them: frozen in place, on her chest.

?! No way. She's not going to… Expose herself to me, is she?! In this kind of situation?! No. This is too much! I can't have my first time happen like this!

As I winced and looked away from the self-proclaimed succubus-vampire committing indecent exposure atop my body, but instead of her corset lowering, two enormous, dark structures unfurled from behind her: a pair of wings.

I could see the rest of the room just fine before, but her wings immediately blocked out all of the light behind her. They were like blackout curtains. Fitting for someone who called herself the "Goddess Of The Night".

There was no way that I could doubt her anymore. As ridiculous as the situation was, I had to accept it. Despite all of these events, I hadn't woken up, and I was perfectly conscious.

So she is a succubus and a vampire. Then what the hell is she doing here, and what do I have to do with it?!

She quickly retracted her wings after a few moments, the dim light returning to the room once more.

"T-there! Are you satisfied now, seeing these wings of mine?" she exclaimed, her hands swiping mine away, and bashfully covering her chest.

"You idiot! I thought you were going to show me something else!" I snapped back. "Don't scare me like that!"

"Something else? What on earth would be more embarrassing than showing my bare wings?"

Is she serious?

"A-anyway, now you know that I'm telling the truth, right?" she continued, regaining her composure a little. Her face, still close to mine, radiated an immense heat. It felt like she'd come down with a fever and was burning up.

"S-sure. I guess." I responded. Happy to have my hands free, I coddled my wrists, wincing as I felt the damage. I could feel the bruises developing already.

"So? Now that I believe you, can you tell me what you're doing here, and what you want from me?" I pressed.

Truthfully, my brain struggled to register a word that she said, but my eyes couldn't deny the facts. She appeared from nothing into my room, and she swam through my wall. I felt her heartbeat and saw her wings. How could I argue with that? Perhaps I was now one of those people who had a supernatural encounter.

At least I wasn't abducted by aliens or anything.

"We've wasted enough time talking, and now we don't have any left to spare. I'll explain it all later. We need to do this quickly. I have no idea when they might come for me." she said, once again evading my questions.

"Just be still for a second, and let me confirm whether or not you really are the one I sensed. I'll be quick, I promise."

Luna looked deep into my eyes once more, this time, more intensely. Her tongue played with the corner of her lips in anticipation, as she began breathing heavier. It seemed like she was getting excited.

"Turn your head to the side." she commanded.

"Why?"

"Please, just do it."

As I lay pinned under her, her hands grabbed both of my wrists and held them above my head once more.

Ugh. Her strength is incredible.

She leaned down to my exposed jugular vein and drew a long breath through her nose before falling silent.

"Uhh, Luna? Is everything… alright?"

She briefly paused, holding her breath as if to savour my scent.

"O-Oh, my…" she whispered, "This smell…"

"…"

She exhaled briefly before inhaling sharply once more. The warmth of her breath caressed my neck.

"I'm positive. You've got to be the one. The one I've been looking for…" she exhaled.
