Chapter 13 - Unexpected

She sits my paper down on the desk and looks at me. "We will talk after class," she says with a casual tone.

"Alright." I respond.

I go back to my seat with all the eyes lingering, giving me the feeling that I am not wanted here. Tess still seems to be alright with me but I don't really know who is worth trusting here.

"I'll take the rest of your papers now!" Miss Rose shouts with excitement.

I don't know what she is playing at since my paper is completely blank but I'll find out after this class ends. It wasn't my intention to be here longer than I have to.

This whole infection is feeling like it is going to cause me problems from now on. How did those guys even know to come in here?

Thud.

I look over to see Tess back next to me again.

"I'm surprised she didn't say anything about your paper being blank," Tess says with a bit of shock in her voice.

"I don't really know what it is about either." I reply.

I couldn't help but watch as the other students walk past me. Each one with a different look on their face as they look towards me.

Looks like something is wrong with me, not that they are wrong.

Two guys came in here to talking about taking me without saying some sort of reason for it. I know that it has to do with my arm since that is the only logical answer to it all.

Someone is watching me closely but the only one I could make that guess about is... Tess.

She would be the only one who makes sense for who could have told them something but how would she do it? I'm pretty sure most technology is fried.

The bell finally rings after an hour of sitting around listening to a bunch of useless garbage. Now it was time for me to see the teacher for whatever reason.

"Good luck," Tess says before walking past me.

I didn't respond and just make my way to the front of the classroom. It didn't take long for everyone to funnel out of the classroom.

Her happy expression still seems to remain as it comes down to just the two of us in the classroom. I took one quick look around to see if someone was hiding but didn't notice anyone.

"A blank paper, do you really not know?" Miss Rose questions with a curious tone.

"I just haven't had the chance to awaken. It has been pretty chaotic these last few weeks for me." I answer with a calm tone.

She takes a seat and begins to lean back in it.

"It has been chaotic for everyone, but I can see what the real problem is. The same problem with why those men came into here earlier," she says while looking towards my arm.

"There's nothing wrong with it though." I respond while trying to keep myself confident.

"Infection from the Zierel, yet Alice still sent you forward. That means she believes you aren't capable of killing any of us here. I was given the chance when I first arrived too," Miss Rose says with a bit of understanding in her voice.

I can feel the wriggle in my arm once again as it goes up my entire arm.

This thing is really annoying to deal with constantly. I honestly thought I would finally get a break since nothing was going but maybe it was just hiding.

On other note, Miss Rose seems to be well aware of what's wrong with me. I don't know if that is good or bad yet.

"I definitely don't have the intention of killing anyone here. I'm just a little confused about what you meant by you were given a chance when you arrived." I respond with a bit of confusion in my voice.

Instead of giving me an answer I can see that a series of dark black veins form around her chest. Each one moving around just like mine do.

"You're infected too... how do you keep it hidden?" I ask while watching it disappear.

"It took a bit of time but I finally found a way to suppress it. My magic is capable of nullifying it temporarily." Miss Rose answers with a calm tone in her voice.

"Will I ever be able to hide it?" I ask with curiosity in my voice.

She stands up from her seat and walks over to me, lifting up my left arm to see it better herself. Tracing along the veins for a few moments.

"Honestly I don't know. Something about your infection is a lot different than mine," Miss Rose says with a bit of a concerned look on her face.

"Great," I reply with a bit of disappointment.

"For now just take this and head to the next class. I'll do some research myself," Miss Rose says before handing me my schedule.

I take it before leaving the classroom without a word. My objective was crystal clear to me anyway.

So I make my way down the hallway towards the exit but I can see a group of kids standing around over there. Most of them seem to be waiting by the door.

I am going to take a guess and assume that they don't trust me. I would feel pretty weird if people came into my classroom looking for one of the students.

I'm just not in the mood to deal with any of this right now. My arm is already a ticking time bomb with when it'll fully transform again.

As I reach the door I am stopped, in front of me is one of the guys from the group here.

"Leaving already? We have a few more classes," he says with a mischievous smile.

"I don't have time for this, just move." I respond with a serious tone.

SHOVE!

He pushes me back away from the door as the others begin to laugh.

Too many of them for me to fight without any sort of magic or power. I'm about to get my ass kicked here if I don't figure something out.

"Tear them open, pull out their insides. They started it anyway." A sinister voice echoes.

WRIGGLE.
