Chapter 14 - Temptation

This is not the opportunity to let this infection help out... I won't kill a bunch of assholes like this. The best thing I can do here is just fight it without any sort of help.

It might be a dumb idea but I don't think I want to run away. The Zierel who broke into my house didn't scare me enough to just run away.

I fought back against that thing so this is nothing.

SWING!

He doesn't hesitate and swings his fist towards me, it felt like it was slow for a moment... until it went across my face.

"Is that enough for you to back off now dumbass," he says with the same look on his face.

The pain in the left side of my face isn't anywhere near the pain I felt the day my arm got torn open. I clench my right fist as I quickly lift it up and swing.

POW!

A punch right across his annoying face... it knocks him back a few steps as he tries to comprehend what just happened. I can see a bit of blood dripping down from his mouth.

Drip.

PATTER. PATTER.

The punch was a lot harder than his since I'm not even bleeding from his hit. That might've just put me in a bad position since I'm outnumbered here.

It is probably better to take him out as fast as possible before the others jump in.

"You piece o—

I swing my fist into his face before he can even finish that sentence, then another with my left. Back and forth until he falls back against the door.

Four other kids from his group are still standing around me with each one wondering how he got beat.

I'm not going to sit back again. I won't be stopped by some assholes who think they know better. I don't care if people like me or not anyway.

"Jordan!!" One of them shouts before rushing towards me.

Just barely I manage to duck under his swing before slamming my fist into his gut.

"Huff!" He lets out as he stumbled for a moment.

If they come at me like this I can win this, but a whole fight against me will not end in my favor. I'm getting lucky the way it is.

Just using what I saw in some boxing movies that I watched with my dad in the past. I didn't actually expect any of it to work since I'm not experienced in the slightest.

SWING!!

I dodge his swing once more and decide to catch his arm this time. I hold it with one hand before swinging back at him with the other.

A clean right hook across his face that sends him falling back onto the ground like the other guy.

"F*ck this! Jump him already!" One of them shouts.

I try my best to counter as many of the punches as I can but I'm clearly outnumbered. My arms get taken from behind as I'm held in place.

1, 2, 4, 6, and two more for good luck.

All those punches to the gut felt like shit but yet it never will feel the way it did that day. The pain in my gut still sucks regardless of what I compare it to.

But now I'm watching my own blood hit the floor as I take this beating.

"Why won't you just do it already." The voice echoes.

I'm not going to kill them just because they decided to bully me. These guys won't go far if this is how they behave in this academy anyway.

The teachers will eventually catch up to them without me doing a damn thing.

Taking a beating before I leave isn't really the end of the world anyway, we've already experienced the end.

Thud!

I fall onto the floor as I watch the other two guys finally get back up. The main one "Jordan" kicks me in the gut before walking away.

After a few moments I push myself over to look up at the ceiling, taking in everything that just happened to me.

Each punch they delivered to my gut felt like shit. Definitely broke a rib or two, how am I supposed to push forward with this kind of injury.

It was definitely tempting to just let this infection help me out but then I'd truly be a monster. Fighting against a bunch of assholes taught me that I have it in me at least.

The world is going to be ruthless, a lot more on the outside than on the inside of some academy. Out there I won't be given the chance to get back up like this.

I'll probably lose a lot more blood in a fight outside of this place.

I force myself to sit up as the pain radiates in my ribcage. It doesn't take much since I didn't want to be stuck here on the floor.

"Not leaving today it seems..." I say weakly.

CLANG!

I fall towards one of the lockers but manage to keep myself from falling back onto the floor. Probably the best way to make it to the next class.

I use the lockers to keep walking forward as I try to keep an eye out for anyone else.

My right eye was a bit blurry from one of the punches they landed across my face before. At least I can still see period, that's a pretty big win in my book.

Drip.

Blood was still dripping down my face, but my attention shifts the moment I hear someone running towards me.

I really hope it isn't one of those guys because I don't have the strength to fight another one right now. Even if it is a one on one.

That fight was unfair for someone with no fighting experience... and the fact that I'm not some superhero. Either of those things would've made a big difference.

My left arm lifts up and I can feel it go over someone's shoulder.

"You just can't be left alone," a familiar voice says.
