Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Perceptive Eye

Fu Xian's assumption wasn't unfounded.

The room he was in was rather small, like a dao cultivation room. How could it house the dozens of cultivators living in this neighbourhood?

Another reason is that he could also clearly spot a prominent spiritual inspiration in the centre:

A piece of jade, surrounded by immortal light, in the shape of a crescent moon. The light falling off from this inspiration was ethereal and seemed to freeze time, yet at the same time, it also created an illusion: four seasons, winter, autumn, summer and spring.

He, too, was drawn to it, but he quickly shook his head.

'This eye improves perception. Not only normal perception, it would likely even allow lower-stage cultivators to perceive spiritual power easier and improve their cultivation. At later stages, it might even allow one to perceive the deeper machinations of the dantians, allowing one to advance more smoothly.

And this book, made of jade and having an air of wisdom, improved comprehension! Haha, these two, they are huge! A huge bonus!

Others might think that their effect is too weak at the current stage, and even when upgrading them to the maximum rank of a spiritual inspiration, it wouldn't be as efficient as simply spending the resources and time to focus deeper…

But for me, this is actually a great boon!

It doesn't have to be strong to me – with its great abilities, it can aid my clones immensely!

Haha, I can already imagine…

Giving these two to a clone, this clone with have supreme perception and divine comprehension!

Together, they are the foundation to analyse all matters and clearly understand the dao!

Even more, it's a divine chance to have a unique analytical comprehensive clone!

All others might only use these two as an aid to help their comprehension, but a clone focused on these two, maybe even fusing them…

Hahaha! Won't he be just as strong and full of potential like my Gu clone?!'

He was excited and quickly forgot the inspiration in the centre of the room.

For that inspiration, he would have to spent years. And clearly, it was one focused on the change of times, the cycle of the seasons. He looked back at his own clones and saw instantly that it was best fit for his spiritual planting clone.

That clone… with low foundation and a difficult path, even if it waited a few more years or even a decade, it wouldn't be too late…

Having made a choice, Fu Xian didn't hesitate anymore and focused fully on comprehending the two treasures in his hand.

First he started with the Eye – it's fundamental power, to enhance perception, wasn't very effective on him. Or rather, his perception was too high for it to have a deep influence. In this case, his own power worked as well as if he had a strong perception talent, making it easier to understand it.

"Vision comes from the Eye… with a supreme Eye, one can perceive the Great Dao in a single glance…" he contemplated and meditated as he observed the eye.

Time passed and just forty minutes later, he woke up.

Between his brows, there was a wisp. The eye in his hand disappeared and seemed to be hiding between his brows, but unfortunately, no matter how strong the wisp fought, ultimately, it couldn't condense.

In the end, there was only a glint in Fu Xian's eyes, seemingly perceiving something.

He tried it out a few times until he sighed "Well, even though it's not strong, at least I can… zoom a bit more… and switching between normal vision and spiritual vision is extremely easy now, no need for deep concentration or a special spell."

There was no disappointment in his eyes.

To be honest, no matter how great these inspirations were, to him, they were more like passive spells.

He could only gain the largest benefit from them once he found corresponding spells and finally draw a talisman together.

Even then, with the low level of the spiritual inspiration, the resulting talisman would probably not reach a high grade.

The grade of crafts depend on three things.

First, materials, which are the foundation. Higher materials forcefully enhance the upper limit of the craft while lower materials degrade the final work.

Second, the crafter's skill. It determines the lower limit of the craft. With a high skill, you may get the greatest value of a certain material, and with a low skill, even supreme materials will only result in rubbish.

Third, the crafter's specifications. A greatly skilled weapon crafter who specialises in swords and can craft peak-grade swords might not even craft a mid-grade bow. Therefor, a crafter's specification is the upper limit of a craft.

Spiritual inspiration, in this way, are the main expression of a crafter's specification. A sword crafter will definitely have a sword inspiration, probably of the peak grade of spiritual inspiration or even higher. Meanwhile, he might have a bow inspiration, but it would only be of the lowest level. This would allow him to craft a bow, but the resulting bow could only be of a lower grade, if he didn't forcefully push its grade with higher materials.

"The art of crafting is supreme, I shouldn't get distracted…" Fu Xian said, calming down his thoughts. His final thought was of various perception spells and talisman, finally shaking his head. This was not his specification and would ultimately not even allow him to draw a higher grade talisman diagram.

The 1500 library points he got were because he had drawn a peak-grade talisman diagram…

Focusing back on the matter at hand, he took the jade book and began contemplating.

"Supreme knowledge dispels ignorance. With a will to seek the dao and a book to guide one's heart, comprehending the supreme laws is as easy as drinking water and breathing air…"

This time, a full hour passed, leaving only a few minutes remaining.

He quickly tested the inspiration – thinking of the spell he had been comprehending and trying to convert, he felt that some points that had been unclear before were revealed right away. Although these were minor and he would've understood them in a few moments if he sought it out, he understood the depth of this matter.

"Although these issues are minor, they are numerous. At the final stage, I would have to debug and patch them all before the talisman diagram finally transforms from high-grade to peak.

Hehe, it seems my decision was right!"

Even though it was only a little help, this help would save him a lot of time over the three years (since his two hours equal two years of comprehension) if he'd not have taken this inspiration right away but focused on comprehending the spiritual inspiration in the centre.

Anyways, the most important function wasn't this one right now, but no one would complain about additional benefits!
