The Tree of Might originated from the Dragon Ball movie The Tree of Might.
It was a legendary treasure of the cosmos, said to be something only beings at the level of the Supreme Kai were qualified to consume.
The Tree of Might was an extremely mysterious plant. Its fruit possessed terrifying, almost divine power.
After consuming the fruit, one's strength would increase dramatically—but at a terrible cost.
Once the Tree of Might took root, it would greedily absorb all nutrients from the planet itself, draining the land dry and turning fertile worlds into lifeless deserts.
In the movie, Turles and his subordinates planted the Tree of Might on Earth, intending to use its fruit to boost their combat power before conquering the universe.
To protect Earth, Son Goku and the others fought Turles in a desperate battle.
In the end, Goku defeated Turles and stopped the Tree of Might from completely destroying the planet.
"How could Vegeta have something like this?" Bardock muttered, reaching out and picking up the Tree of Might seed.
The female Saiyan lowered her head respectfully.
"My King, when Old Vegeta was imprisoned, we conducted a routine search and discovered an exquisite brocade pouch on him."
"When he saw this item, Old Vegeta went completely berserk trying to snatch it back. He only calmed down after the guards beat him half to death."
Bardock walked toward the throne hall as he asked, "Then how did you confirm this was the Tree of Might seed?"
Ordinary people wouldn't even know such an object existed, let alone be able to identify it.
The female Saiyan answered quickly, "At first, we weren't certain. So we sent it to the Imperial Research Institute. After Dr. Mu's appraisal, it was confirmed."
Bardock nodded slowly.
"Dr. Mu… then that makes sense."
Dr. Mu had come to Saiyan Star seeking refuge one year after the planet was unified.
In Bardock's previous life, Dr. Mu wasn't very well known—but if one mentioned Baby, the main antagonist of Dragon Ball GT, almost everyone would remember him.
In the original timeline, Dr. Mu created Baby, a parasitic bio-android designed to take revenge on the people of Planet Tuffle.
That monster went on to possess most of Earth's population and even took over Vegeta, causing enormous trouble for Son Goku.
Naturally, Bardock had no intention of letting such a talent slip away.
He immediately established the Imperial Research Institute in the royal city, placing Dr. Mu at its core and surrounding him with surrendered researchers.
"Alright," Bardock said calmly. "Leave this item with me. It's extremely dangerous—don't let anyone else know about it. You may go."
As for the Tree of Might fruit, Bardock didn't think highly of it at all.
The power boost was limited, the growth time was long, and it consumed absurd amounts of planetary resources.
Spending that time sweating inside a Gravity Chamber wouldn't be any slower—and it had no side effects.
The female Saiyan hesitated, her gaze lingering on Bardock.
"My King… I don't want to leave yet. I want to stay with you a little longer."
Bardock sighed helplessly.
"Stop fooling around. Go do your work."
The female Saiyan gave him a reluctant look before turning and leaving.
Bardock rubbed his temples.
"Why does every female Saiyan want to have children with me…?"
Soon after, Bardock headed toward the prison.
He intended to personally uncover the truth behind the seed—and Old Vegeta.
Inside the royal city's anti-gravity prison, Old Vegeta floated helplessly in midair. Power limiters were locked onto his wrists and ankles, completely suppressing his strength.
Bardock stood before the transparent barrier.
"Vegeta," he said coldly, "I've come to see you."
Old Vegeta glanced up briefly, then lowered his head again.
"Hmph. You're here to ask about that thing, aren't you? Give it up—I won't say a word."
Bardock waved for the guards to leave.
"You mean the Tree of Might seed? I'm not here to ask about that."
Old Vegeta's eyes widened in disbelief.
"How could a low-born Saiyan like you know about the Tree of Might?"
Bardock shrugged.
"But I do."
Old Vegeta frowned deeply.
"Then why are you here? If you know what it is, you should also know what it does."
Bardock chuckled.
"I'm just curious—how did you get it?"
Old Vegeta suddenly burst into laughter.
"Hahaha! You think I'll tell you?"
"I hate it… I hate that I overestimated Reg's strength. If I had known, I would've acted three years ago, the moment we landed on that desolate planet!"
Bardock's expression darkened.
"So you won't talk?"
He pressed a button.
Crackling high-voltage currents surged across the prison walls, violently arcing over Old Vegeta's body.
"AHHHH—!" Old Vegeta screamed, his entire body convulsing.
Bardock watched him coldly.
"Will you speak now?"
Old Vegeta clenched his teeth and endured the pain, still refusing.
After more than ten minutes, his will finally broke.
"I'll talk… I'll talk…"
Bardock shut off the electricity and waited in silence.
It turned out the Tree of Might seed had been stolen long ago by Vegeta I from the royal treasury of Planet Salad.
Young and reckless, Vegeta I secretly planted it on Planet Salad.
Within months, the planet's nutrients were completely drained. Vast lands turned into endless deserts.
Because the Tree of Might grew too large to conceal, the Saiyans erupted into a brutal civil war, all fighting to seize its fruit.
Amid the chaos, Vegeta I grabbed the only remaining seed from the treetop and fled Planet Salad with a portion of his clansmen aboard a spaceship.
Planet Salad, no longer able to support life, was abandoned.
Bardock nodded thoughtfully.
"So that Turles—who looks suspiciously like me—must have stolen a Tree of Might seed from the Vegeta lineage."
"Unfortunately for him," Bardock muttered, crossing his arms, "he crashed on Earth and was killed by my grandson Gohan."
Old Vegeta, his body scorched and trembling, laughed weakly.
"I've told you everything… now kill me. Kill me!"
Bardock ignored him and turned to leave.
At the doorway, he stopped and looked back with a grin.
"You can't die yet."
"Who told you to have two good sons? Hahaha!"
Old Vegeta's furious roars echoed through the prison.
Walking away, Bardock gave the guards a final order.
"Don't let him die."
"Yes, My King."
Looking at the bustling streets of Saiyan Star, pride welled up in Bardock's chest.
Then he turned toward a familiar destination.
"Time for a surprise inspection," he muttered with a smile.
"Let's see how the future of the Saiyan race is doing… in kindergarten."
