Bang! Bang! Bang!
With one stride the Giant covered a hundred metres; in a few steps he caught up to the fleeing Fem-boy.
Boom!
Amid Zi Wen's look of terror, a huge foot slammed down five metres to his left, the ground exploding as stones and dust gusted over him.
Whoosh! A wall of water appeared on his left, blocking the flying rubble.
Zi Wen didn't pause; right now he was running faster than he ever had in his life.
Arrows of water shot out again and again, aiming straight at Yu Shuanghua.
Yu Shuanghua didn't even dodge; he let the water arrows strike his body, the spray not even scratching his defence.
He curled his lip in disdain. "Giving me a bath?"
A moment later he lashed out with a kick at the already-overtaken Zi Wen.
Feeling the titanic foot and its howling wind, Zi Wen knew he couldn't evade; a thick current of water gushed out across his back.
Bang! The Giant foot smashed the water apart, the impact blasting Zi Wen straight at a hundred-storey skyscraper hundreds of metres away.
A woman's heart-rending scream accompanied Zi Wen's flight toward the building.
Crash! Zi Wen slammed into the tower; the wall burst like tofu, leaving a ten-metre hole.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
His speed undiminished, Zi Wen tore through wall after wall inside the building and shot out the far side.
His clothing was shredded, only a few scraps still clinging to him.
He flew another hundred metres before his momentum finally spent itself and he crashed onto the roof of a two-storey shop.
After finishing the two, Yu Shuanghua grinned savagely. "Haha—time to eat! Two Level Fives will give me a nice boost!"
Rumble! A bluish-white bolt of lightning suddenly cracked above Yu Shuanghua's head.
Crackle! The strike hit him squarely, the paralysis locking his colossal frame in place.
"Not bad—only paralysed after one hit of mine." A flippant voice came from behind.
"Who goes there!" Yu Shuanghua roared, forcing his body to turn.
On a ten-storey rooftop behind him stood a cocky young man with yellow hair, hands in his pockets, white shirt under a black jacket.
The youth smirked. "Me? I'm the newly appointed captain of Xuanjian Division's First Unit—Qin Musheng!"
"I don't care what stray cat or dog you are—ambush me and you die!" Yu Shuanghua howled.
"Woof! Woof! Woof!"
The Blood-Dogs scattered by the flood came charging back, racing toward Qin Musheng.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Yu Shuanghua's titanic frame also thundered straight at Qin Musheng.
Watching them come, Qin Musheng grinned fearlessly. "This is my first fight since joining Xuanjian Division—so how about you just drop dead?"
Though he hadn't climbed the Division's internal ranks to Level Five, as captain tasked with defending Town City and providing support, his strength rivalled former captain Long Zhengqing.
Crackle! Crackle! Bluish-white arcs danced across his body.
Boom! Boom! Boom! The lightning suddenly expanded, blasting down at the pack of Blood-Dogs.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Every bolt within seven or eight metres turned the dogs into charred husks.
In one second the entire pack was wiped out; the air reeked of burnt flesh.
Eyes wild, he looked up at the oncoming Giant. "You're next!"
Several kilometres away, Zhu Tianxiao lay inside a half-collapsed three-storey roadside building he had demolished on impact.
Clatter! Some loose stones fell.
"Tch—" A stab of agony shot through him the instant he tried to move, drawing a sharp hiss.
'Every bone on my left side must be shattered; organs too.' A quick self-check told him how bad it was.
"That Giant's terrifying. If I weren't Body-Type, I'd be unconscious—or worse." Zhu Tianxiao's eyes flickered.
All he could do now was wait for rescue; with the city blanketed in surveillance, a healer Awakened would arrive soon.
Whoosh! Four Black Spheres suddenly appeared downstairs.
The spheres fused and shifted, forming a white-masked, pitch-black humanoid on the floor.
Liu Zhiyuan had barely landed when he glanced aside at the second floor. "Lucky—an injured Level Five. Perfect top-up."
This space-like ability drained him massively and could only shift him a few dozen kilometres.
Whoosh! Liu Zhiyuan vaulted effortlessly up to the second floor.
Buried under rubble, Zhu Tianxiao heard movement and rasped, "Quick… my left side's shattered—start there…"
Tap… tap… tap… Only silence answered, footsteps drawing closer.
He managed to lift his head—and saw a white-masked, inky-black creature. Despair filled his face.
Right now he couldn't even beat a Level Two Awakened, let alone this monster.
"Aaaaargh!" A scream tore from the second floor.
After all the battles against the Flesh-and-Blood Beings, humanity's first Level Five casualty had appeared.
"Hurry—Captain Zhu's just ahead!"
Liu Zhiyuan had only just absorbed Zhu Tianxiao when hurried footsteps reached him from outside.
'Too many of them; I can't fight head-on. I'll mop up these small fry first, get stronger.' Hatred flashed in Liu Zhiyuan's eyes.
He hated his own weakness—unable to finish a Level Five in a straight fight, forced to scavenge scraps and minions.
With that thought he flickered outside.
"Ahh—!" Several short screams rang out, then silence.
West District, a deserted alley without cameras.
An Awakened was instantly swallowed by a swarm of insects—man and clothes vanishing in a second.
Motley leaned against the wall. "Thirteen."
He had been heading for the city centre to devour that lump of flesh, but halfway there he sensed it disappear.
He changed tactics: devour sub-Level Five Awakeneds to grow, then hunt lone Level Fives if possible.
Bzzzt! A peculiar Spatial Ripple suddenly wrapped around him.
Motley's face changed. "How did they find me?"
Whoosh! The scene in front of him shifted instantly.
Motley now stood in a yellow-earth expanse under a star-strewn black sky, a cold moon glowing at its centre.
"An isolated pocket realm—only one person can own a space like this." Motley's pupils shrank.
Unless he was Space-Type himself, or could defeat the owner outright, he was trapped.
