Chapter 5 - The Inhumane Cube sent from Hell, Part 2

"Alright, class, eyes up here." the teacher says, tapping the board to get everyone's attention. "This part of the chapter is actually important, so don't just stare into space pretending you understand. If you follow the steps, it's not even that hard. You just gotta slow down and actually look at what the problem is asking you."

He walks across the room, hands behind his back like every teacher ever. "And yes, before anyone asks, this will show up on the test. No, you cannot skip it. No, I'm not moving the due date. I've already given you guys, like, way more time than I should've." He points at the board again.

At the far left side of the room, a ceiling fan made a faint clicking noise every time it rotated, like something tiny inside it was loose. A few students kept glancing upward whenever it clicked, even though they pretended not to notice.

"Alright, pay attention. Let's go through it one more time so nobody freaks out later."

A loose sheet of paper drifted off someone's desk in the third row and slowly floated to the floor. Nobody bothered to pick it up, even though it landed in the middle of the aisle where everyone could see it.

In the middle row of the auditorium sat Kawakami, Yuki and Gumpei. Yuki sat professionally and maturely, sharply studying her books, making sure her eyes were glued to the page in front of her. She gripped her pencil tightly, as she took learning very seriously.

A student two seats behind her tapped the end of his pencil on the desk over and over, not out of boredom but because he was trying to remember a formula he forgot. The tapping made a soft, steady pattern that blended into the background noise of the room.

On the opposite side of the auditorium, someone kept adjusting their chair because one of the legs was uneven. Every time they shifted their weight, the chair made a tiny wooden creak that echoed slightly under the high ceiling.

Beside Yuki sat Kawakami with one leg crossed and texting her mother who lived all the way in Hokkaido. She looked at Yuki beside her, smirked and thought 'She's so nerdy.'

Yuki looked at her and thought 'She's so improper.'

A small beam of sunlight from the high windows caught the dust in the air, making a slow-moving trail of particles drift lazily above their heads, glowing softly each time it passed through the light.

Sitting next to Kawakami was Gumpei. Both of his legs were crossed, and he had his hands tucked inside of his crossed legs. Meanwhile, he was balancing a pencil on his nose, making it wobble every few seconds. Safe to say he wasn't paying attention to the lecture at all.

Both Yuki and Kawakami gave him a sly side-eye and thought to themselves 'How weird.'

"Hey, uh, Yuki." Gumpei said, gently waving to draw her attention.

"Oh, yes? What do you need, Gumpei?" Yuki replied.

"Well uh..."

Meanwhile, with Fumi...

As the car raced towards Fumi, he was only left to wonder, 'Is this the end?' The car engine roared throughout the room as it was now only inches away from Fumi. As it was about to hit him, he seemingly jumped 5 meters in the air, avoiding the car. The car raced by, crashing into the wall opposite it. As Fumi landed back down onto the ground, a soft 'pfff' noise came from his shoes. "I used my spheres to assist me in jumping 5 meters into the air. I put 10 spheres under each foot." he said as blue, hollow spheres emerged from his shoes and floated up to his face and stayed about 30cm away from the surface of his skin.

"Now," he said, taking a fighting pose where his hands were slightly extended out in front of him.

"Come at me, asshole!"

But nothing came out.

Instead, Fumi was met with a deep and frightening voice.

"Freeze! Police! Put your hands in the air where I can see them!"

"Huh?" Fumi said as the voice emerged from the dark room that the car crashed into. Then, a police officer built out of those purple cubes walked out with a gun. "Oh shit!" Fumi quickly spurted out, covering his head and sprinting away. "Don't shoot, damn it!" Fumi screamed, running down the street. "Eat led, bitch!" the cop said, firing multiple shots towards Fumi. 75% of the shots hit Fumi, making him fall down to the ground. "G-Gauh... Damn it all... What is this thing's power?" Fumi asked himself, slowly trying to stand up, little by little.

"Fuck... Is this where I die? Is this where I, Fumi, meet my maker?"

The cop walked over with a sly smirk on his face.

"You thought you could out run me? A cop with a loaded gun. You stupid bastard." he said, pointing the gun at Fumi.

"I'm gonna kill you!"

He pointed the gun at Fumi faster than he could react.

"No, not at all. Actually, Mr. Police Officer-san, that's where our minds differ. You see, I've got you trapped, but you don't even know it yet." Fumi said, looking up at the purple police officer. The police officer formed a confused look on his face as a sphere floated over his eyes. With zero hesitation, the gun fired his gun, but the bullet missed.

"I used my spheres as a lens to distort your vision, making you miss the shot." Fumi said, standing up and karate chopping the cop's neck and knocking him out. He then began running down the street, knowing the unconscious cop would turn back into those weird cubes.

"Just who am I?!"
