Chapter 35 - 034: The Bet

But what should I give him?

The Supreme Kai was stumped.

As the Supreme Kai, he simply had too many things at his disposal.

"Ahem!"

Gohan cleared his throat and said, "Supreme Kai, to be honest, I want to learn Kibito's Instant Transmission."

"Uh..."

The Supreme Kai and Kibito froze, then were simultaneously shocked.

They hadn't expected Gohan to know Kibito's name and even mention his signature technique.

Yet, he had only seen Kibito use Instant Transmission twice.

How was this possible?

Moreover, they didn't recall ever introducing Kibito's name.

Therefore, there was only one truth.

Gohan, standing before them, had actually known about their existence for a long time.

It was truly terrifying to think about.

Who exactly was the real god here?

Shock aside, the Supreme Kai quickly composed himself and said, "Mr. Gohan, I'm afraid that won't work. It's not that Kibito is unwilling to teach you, but his Instant Transmission has limitations. It cannot be learned by anyone who is not an attendant of a Supreme Kai."

"Uh, something like that exists?" Gohan asked in surprise.

In truth, he had been coveting Kibito's skill for a long time.

Kibito's Instant Transmission and the Yardratian Instant Transmission were not on the same level.

The Yardratian Instant Transmission required locking onto a target's Ki signature before it could be used.

Kibito's Instant Transmission, however, had absolutely no such restriction.

Kibito's Instant Transmission didn't require locking onto a target's Ki; as long as he had a destination, he could teleport there.

In other words, Kibito's Instant Transmission could instantly take him to any planet or location under the Supreme Kai's jurisdiction—it could truly be called a divine technique.

But he couldn't learn it? That was utter crap.

Gohan instantly felt like he had missed out on a fortune in a single moment.

Alas, what a pity, a real shame.

The Supreme Kai said, "Yes, that's right. This is a technique reserved for the gods; it cannot be performed without the aura of a god."

Huh?

The aura of a god?

Gohan's eyes lit up, and he immediately asked, "Are you saying it can be learned if one possesses the aura of a god?"

He knew a way to acquire the aura of a god, but for his current self, it was a task of hellish difficulty.

The Supreme Kai said, "That is only one requirement. There are other requirements..."

"..."

Holy crap!

Gohan said helplessly, "Ugh, forget it then. It seems our fate is too shallow. I'll see if there's a chance later."

The Supreme Kai continued, "If Mr. Gohan wants to learn Instant Transmission, I do know of a planet that teaches this skill. Although it's not as powerful as Kibito's Instant Transmission, it's still quite good."

Gohan replied, "You're talking about the technique from Planet Yardrat, right? I know about that one."

The Supreme Kai said, "I didn't expect Mr. Gohan to know about Planet Yardrat's existence. I spoke out of turn."

"Haha, no offense, Supreme Kai, but my deceased father knew that technique, so it's perfectly normal for me to know about Planet Yardrat."

The Supreme Kai suddenly understood. "Oh, so that's it. That explains things."

Next, Gohan asked the robot to serve a few new dishes, urging the Supreme Kai to eat quickly while continuing to ask:

"Supreme Kai, what do you think is the hardest metal in the universe?"

The Supreme Kai replied, "The hardest metal? Hmm, it should be Katchin. That metal is probably the hardest in the entire universe."

"Oh? Could you show it to me?"

"Yes, of course."

As the Supreme Kai spoke, he waved his hand in the air, and a black, fist-sized cube appeared in his palm.

"Here." He handed the Katchin to Gohan.

Gohan reached out and took it, realizing that this fist-sized piece of Katchin weighed several hundred pounds.

The density was insane.

He flicked it with his finger; it gave off a dull thunk, confirming its hardness.

He wondered if this metal would be useful to Bulma.

"Hmm, it looks pretty good. Supreme Kai, could you give me a little more? I'd like to study this metal," Gohan said.

"Certainly. I'll get more for you later. If I brought it out now, this house might collapse under the weight."

"Alright, thank you very much, Supreme Kai."

"No need, no need. We are friends, after all. It's just a small favor."

"Supreme Kai, what about the sharpest sword in the world? Do you know what that is?"

The Supreme Kai thought for a moment before answering, "Well, the sharpest sword in this world should be the Z Sword in the Sacred World of the Kais. Mr. Gohan, you don't want that divine sword too, do you?"

Gohan laughed heartily. "Hahaha, you saw right through me! Your vision is truly sharp, I'm impressed."

The Supreme Kai said, "To be honest, Mr. Gohan, even if I wanted to give you this divine sword, I couldn't."

Gohan asked knowingly, "What do you mean?"

The Supreme Kai smiled bitterly. "To tell you the truth, although the sword is currently on the Kaioshin Planet, it has been sealed for over seventy million years. It's impossible for anyone to pull it out."

"How is that possible? I don't believe it," Gohan stated directly.

The Supreme Kai said, "Mr. Gohan, I'm truly not lying to you. Every Supreme Kai throughout history has tried to pull out that sealed longsword, but not a single one has succeeded."

Kibito, standing nearby, chimed in, "Yes, I can confirm that. I've also tried to pull out the Z Sword, but I couldn't budge it. The Supreme Kai has also tried, and it didn't move at all."

"So it's impossible for anyone to pull that sword out."

Gohan smiled and said, "Have you two ever considered one thing?"

"Wh-what thing?" Kibito asked.

"Your power is too weak to pull out the Z Sword."

"Uh..."

The Supreme Kai: "..."

Kibito: "..."

Both were completely speechless.

Couldn't he be a little less blunt?

They felt like they were suffocating.

Gohan declared confidently, "Well, I'd be willing to help you with this task. I can definitely pull this sword out."

Kibito immediately grew anxious. "I don't believe it! That's impossible!"

Not only did Kibito disbelieve him, but the Supreme Kai didn't believe him either.

While he might be weak, previous generations of Supreme Kais were certainly not lacking in strength, and those gods had certainly tried to pull the Z Sword.

The Supreme Kais of the East, West, South, and North.

One generation after another.

Countless Supreme Kais had attempted to draw this divine sword, yet none had succeeded.

Therefore, it definitely had nothing to do with strength.

Gohan curled his lips into a confident smile and said, "How about we make a bet? If I can pull out the Z Sword, then it's mine."

Hmm?

The Supreme Kai raised an eyebrow and said seriously, "And if you can't pull it out?"

"If I can't, you can do whatever you want with me," Gohan declared firmly.

"Fine, agreed. It's settled then," the Supreme Kai laughed, his heart overjoyed.

He was absolutely certain that Gohan could never pull out the Z Sword.

This meant that Gohan would have to obey him from now on.

Having such a powerful fighter at his beck and call—just the thought of it gave him sweet dreams.

What the heck was there to fear about Majin Buu then?

Bring it on, Majin Buu!

Ha, even if Gohan really did pull the sword out, so what?

He could just give it to him as a gift.

After all, the Z Sword had been sealed in the Sacred World for over seventy million years; having it or not having it made no difference.

Crucially, he genuinely wanted to see what kind of existence this treasured sword was.

Was it really the number one divine sword in the world?

However, even now, the Supreme Kai and Kibito still didn't believe Gohan could pull out that divine sword.

With the wager set, both sides were delighted.
