Trunks suddenly halted, his eyes fixed intently on Android 16 as he emerged from the hibernation pod.
"Brother Gohan, is this the Android you mentioned, the one even more terrifying than 17 and 18?"
Trunks couldn't sense any dangerous aura emanating from 16, but he remained cautious, unwilling to let down his guard.
After all, Android 17 and 18 had once appeared harmless as well, but in reality, they were two great demons.
The Android standing before him might be another monster of the same kind.
"Brother Gohan, allow me to take him out."
As Trunks spoke, his aura rapidly swelled, whipping up a gale in the laboratory that snapped at their clothing and threatened to tear the roof off.
"Trunks, hold your attack," Gohan quickly interjected.
One second more, and Trunks would have erupted into violence.
Although Trunks didn't understand the reason for Gohan's abrupt command, he obediently suppressed his ferocious aura for the moment.
Android 16 stood motionless, giving Trunks a wary look before turning his attention to Gohan.
After a few seconds of silence, he spoke in a deep voice: "Are you Son Gohan?"
"Yes, I am.' Gohan nodded, studying him with curiosity."
Following another brief silence.
Android 16 continued, "You are different from the records in my database."
Gohan replied, "Of course I'm different. I'm over twenty now. When Dr. Gero died, I was only nine years old, so the information in your database is likely only about my childhood."
Upon hearing the news of Dr. Gero's death, Android 16's pupils visibly contracted, though they quickly returned to their calm state.
"So the Doctor is already dead. That is a great pity."
"And who is he?" He looked toward Trunks.
Trunks was completely absent from Android 16's database; it was a very outdated version.
Gohan replied, "He is Trunks, Vegeta's son."
He then added, "Android 16, now that Dr. Gero is dead, do you still intend to fight us? Or what are your plans going forward?"
Android 16 shook his head. "No, I do not enjoy fighting."
He thought for a moment, then continued, "I do not know what I should do. Perhaps I will wander, eventually settling in the mountains to protect small animals."
Gohan nodded. "Yes, that sounds suitable. I know you love peace and nature, so if any crisis arises on Earth in the future, please defend the planet and protect this home together, provided it is within your capabilities. Can you do that?"
Android 16 looked at Gohan intently, then replied, "I can."
His expression was as cold and impassive as ever.
He spoke very little.
Android 16 nodded. "Good. May I leave now?"
Gohan stepped aside, clearing the path. "You may. However, 16, you have an extremely powerful bomb installed inside you. If you wish to have it removed, you can come find either me or Trunks, and we will take you to see Bulma. She can help you disarm it."
"Understood."
Android 16 accepted the offer, then strode out of the laboratory.
Watching 16 depart, Trunks was utterly bewildered.
Completely confused, he asked Gohan, "Brother Gohan, what exactly was that all about?"
Gohan explained, "He is not the target we are looking for. Although Android 16 is a very powerful creation, he lacks aggressive intent and poses no threat to Earth. There are advantages to letting him go."
"Oh.' Trunks responded, still half-confused, then pressed on, 'Brother Gohan, how can you be sure 16 isn't aggressive? Android 17 and 18 didn't look malicious either, but they turned out to be demonic."
Gohan said, "I cannot explain this to you now, but if anything goes wrong, I will personally step in and destroy him."
"Alright, if you are unavailable, Brother Gohan, I can take care of it. By the way, we've searched the entire laboratory, but the intelligent computer you mentioned—the one still creating Androids—isn't here."
Gohan pointed to the floor beneath his feet and chuckled, "Who said we finished searching the lab? There is still a secret base down below."
"Ah!!!' Trunks exclaimed in shock."
"Watch this.' Gohan grinned and stomped down hard with his right foot."
"Boom!!!"
"Crack, crack, crack!"
The floorboards beneath them violently burst apart, revealing a huge, dark hole.
"There really is a hidden world down there,' Trunks said, astonished."
"Come on, let's go check it out.' Gohan said, taking the lead and leaping down the dark opening."
Trunks followed immediately after.
In just two seconds, both landed firmly on the floor of the underground chamber.
The basement was extremely dim, making it difficult to discern the environment.
Trunks fumbled around for a moment until he found the power switch for the lights. *Click*, the room instantly illuminated.
The previously dim underground room suddenly became bright.
The two could finally clearly see the layout and size of the basement.
Compared to the spacious laboratory above, this basement was several times smaller.
Its structure was also very simple.
In the center stood a massive intelligent computer, three meters tall and five meters wide, its screen emitting a faint glow, indicating it was still operating autonomously.
Next to the computer was a machine about half a person's height, topped by an inverted, cylindrical, transparent glass vessel.
A power tube as thick as a thigh connected the intelligent computer and the machine.
The glass vessel itself was filled with a shimmering green nutrient fluid.
Small bubbles continuously formed at the bottom of the fluid, all floating up toward the top of the glass container.
And right in the dead center of the nutrient fluid, an incredibly hideous embryo was clearly being incubated.
It was none other than Cell.
Cell was currently the size of an arm. Although it was curled up, its strong, powerful heartbeat was visible.
Trunks pressed his palm against the transparent glass.
Cell's eyelids twitched slightly, as if it could awaken at any moment.
"Brother Gohan, we've got the right one this time, haven't we? Is this the ugly thing?' Trunks asked."
Gohan nodded. "Yes, that is the one."
Trunks said, "Why does it give me a feeling of familiarity?"
Gohan replied, "It's probably because this creature contains some of my cells."
"What? How does this monster have your cells?"
"That is because Dr. Gero used mechanical bees to collect the cells of many powerful fighters and fused them together to create this monster."
"As far as I know, its body contains not only my cells, but also the cells of my father and your father."
"The cells of many of our predecessors were collected by Dr. Gero. It even contains the cells of Frieza and King Cold."
"That truly is a monster,' Trunks said, utterly astonished."
Gohan said, "Trunks, step aside for a moment. I will destroy it."
"Oh, alright.' Trunks responded, decisively moving to the side."
Gohan raised his hand, spread his fingers, and fired a ki blast that instantly shattered the glass container holding the Cell embryo.
"Boom!"
As the glass container exploded, the green nutrient fluid splashed everywhere.
The Cell embryo, now separated from the nutrient fluid, tumbled across the floor, began to tremble, and let out a series of 'squeak, squeak' sounds.
It looked exactly like a struggling, dying, hairless rat.
Gohan showed no mercy, stomping down with his foot, instantly crushing it into a pile of flesh.
Immediately afterward, he raised his hand and unleashed another energy blast onto the remains.
After a series of crackling sounds, only a scorched black mark remained on the ground.
The Cell embryo was utterly annihilated.
