Chapter 9 - God

Why ?

Just why did such a sight had to exist.

A perfect fairy tale.

Ruined.

Destroyed by these imperfections.

Just why did such a world exist.

A god thought to himself.

Ah I know how to fix it..

It thought.

Or did it even think?

No one could tell.

It was a god after all.

I will create it.. my treasure.

*

I swung the knife, narrowly missing it's neck.

It was fast . Immensely fast.

Too fast for my eyes to track, so I had to rely on every other sense I had.

The smell.

It intent to kill was clear in the smell that came off it.

Like a line guiding my hand, I struck following the smell.

*Slusshh*

It eyes was now out of its socket and hanging on by the tip of my dagger.

Again it struck.

"Ah fuck! "

My leg , it had huge chuck of it gone.

The fight was in the first floor hallway.

One wrong step and I fall down, into that almost suffocating ground floor. Then my death would be certain.

It was my 3rd time fighting this thing.

Each death I came back physically stronger but spiritually weaker.

The smell on the ground floor affected me much more now.

*Clank*

My blade hit it's paws or tentacles or whatever those things were that came out of its back.

* Clank*

Again .

And again.

* Clank*

His speed showed no signs of reducing, but neither did mine.

I had come to know everything it could do in our previous fights.

I knew it all too well.

The one spot it would protect the most.

Its tongue.

I took a step back and observed my surroundings.

I had to stab his tongue or pull it out with my bare hands.

Somehow.

A window to my left.

A fall to my right.

I looked for any opening.

None.

Expected.

It's eyes glowed in the dark .

*Spat*

I dodge.

Getting closer to the window than I would have liked.

It's spit was both acidic and highly poisonous.

Even if you didn't melt , you'd rot.

But that spit gave me the chance I wanted.

I jumped on the guardrails, one foot in the air, climbing using the wall to fuel my jump higher.

It followed, its mouth still open, closing slow so as to not get the spit on it exterior.

In the air it had no way to run.

I threw my dagger straight at his tongue.

Ripping it out of mouth and pinning it to the floor.

*Slash*

My chest was pierced.

I too was defenseless in the air. But unlike it, I wouldn't just roll over and permanently die.

I hit the floor.

Slowly losing my consciousness.

My body decomposing into dust.

*

The god laughed as it wrote about his treasure.

Perfection.. Truly my greatest creation.

The god laughed as it looked at it's creation.

Happy with its work it left it on a small mountain.

Hidden away from mortal eyes.

In a place only it could see it.

You are to remain there little one. Forever, and ever and ever even after the happily ever after you will remain there.

It spoke to its creation before leaving the realm.

Unguarded.

Undefended.

*

I opened my eyes.

It was the same room where I first found Elisa.

I borrowed some clothes and went out .

The corpse of the creature laid there, silent in its presence.

I picked up the dagger , examining the tongue it caught.

It was enchanted.

Beautifully, enchanted.

The magic it had was beyond anything I had ever seen..

Complex, yet so easy to comprehend.

Almost as if it was meant to be easily replicated.

I dropped the grotesque thing onto the ground as I made my way over to the study.

"Welcome back undead.

Good work."

Elisa greeted me. It seems that in the time I took to comeback she had changed her clothing.

"What? Are you checking me out?" She asked teasingly.

"No. I am not interested. How long was I gone for?"

I wanted to know how long it took for me to comeback. My spirit was weak. The weaker the spirit the longer it took for me to come back from death.

"An hour or so. I didn't exactly keep a count.

Anyways it's time for me to reward you isn't it."

She said as she handed me a letter.

It was made out of velvet, the inside of it was pure silver.

"What's this?" I asked.

"Your noble status. Show it anyone affiliated with the king and you'd be treated like true nobility, that is if you haven't been going around causing too much trouble."

She said.

I took the letter and put it in my pocket.

" Now as for your other reward." Elisa said looking at me.

"It's time I taught you the basics of enchanting."
