"So," she said, unwrapping her sandwich. "What's your name, Seat Stealer?"
"Rest," I said.
She paused mid-bite. "Wait. Rest? Like… resting?"
"Yeah."
She stared at me. Then, suddenly, she burst out laughing.
I frowned. "What's so funny?"
"Your name is Rest! That's the laziest-sounding name ever!"
"I'm not lazy," I said flatly.
"I didn't say you were lazy," she said, still laughing. "Just your name."
I rolled my eyes. "And what's your name, then?"
She wiped away a fake tear, finally calming down. "Andrea."
I smirked. "Andrea's pretty common."
"Yeah, but at least it doesn't sound like a nap."
"Whatever," I muttered.
Andrea grinned, taking another bite of her sandwich. "So, Rest. Since we're apparently eating together, tell me something interesting about you."
I raised an eyebrow. "Why?"
"Because I don't wanna sit in awkward silence for the next twenty minutes."
I sighed, thinking. "...I'm good at math."
Andrea groaned. "Boring."
"You asked."
"Yeah, but I wanted an interesting answer. Like, I don't know, 'I have a pet tiger at home' or something."
"Why would I have a pet tiger?"
"See? That would've been a cool fact."
I gave her a blank stare. "Your turn, then. What's an 'interesting' fact about you?"
Andrea grinned. "I can eat five burgers in one sitting."
I blinked. "...That's your fact?"
"Yeah."
"That's not impressive. That's just unhealthy."
"Hey!" she pouted. "It's a talent!"
I snorted. "Sure."
Andrea smirked. "Bet you can't do it."
"I don't want to do it."
"Because you can't."
I sighed. "You're ridiculous."
She only grinned wider. "And you're fun to mess with."
I wasn't sure how, but by the end of lunch, we had somehow become friends.
