Chapter 15 - A SURPRISE AFTER THE EXAM

After getting snacks from the cafeteria, we found a table near the window. Andrea immediately unwrapped her bread roll and took a huge bite.

I raised an eyebrow. "You act like you haven't eaten in days."

She mumbled something incoherent through a mouthful of bread.

"Chew first, talk later," I said.

Andrea swallowed and grinned. "I said, food tastes so much better after suffering."

I shook my head, taking a sip of my drink. "You make everything so dramatic."

She wagged a finger at me. "But it's true. After all that stress, this snack is like a reward from heaven."

I smirked. "If you studied earlier, you wouldn't have suffered in the first place."

"Shhh," Andrea said, putting a finger to her lips. "Let's not talk about past mistakes."

I chuckled.

For a while, we just ate in comfortable silence. The cafeteria was still buzzing with students, but for some reason, it felt quieter now.

Then, out of nowhere, Andrea nudged me.

"Hey," she said, looking a little hesitant.

"What?"

"...Thanks."

I blinked. "For what?"

She twirled a loose strand of her ponytail. "For helping me study. And for believing I could do it."

I stared at her. Andrea wasn't the type to thank people so seriously.

Something about the way she said it made my chest feel weird.

I looked away. "It's not a big deal."

"It is a big deal," she insisted. "If it weren't for you, I'd probably still be panicking right now."

I scoffed. "You'd survive."

"Yeah, but it wouldn't be as fun."

I glanced at her, but she was already stuffing the rest of her bread into her mouth, acting like she hadn't just said something weird again.

I shook my head.

Andrea was exhausting.

But somehow, I didn't mind.
