Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

Daniel woke up from a strange dream. In the dream, he was in a city escape, but all of the buildings were covered and filled with blood, and the sky was blood red. When he walked around, the only other person he saw was a skinny boy on his knees with a large metal wolf mask, holding a swaying stopwatch. The boy didn't say a single thing. But after he woke up, he went about his day relatively normally.

It was the first day of Daniel's junior year of high school, and as he walked over, he was dreading it. Daniel was not dreading the school work; he was actually pretty good at his school work and had always maintained straight A's, but he was more dreading the hassle of getting there and being trapped for 8 hours a day every day. Jeffers, on the other hand, was excited for school, again not related to the school work, as Jeffers was awful at class work and, at this rate, was not going to graduate, but Jeffers simply enjoyed messing around, which he did all day. Daniel walked by Jeffers house, and Jeffers walked out of his house and began walking with Daniel. They had done this routine of Daniel picking up Jeffers every day since they were in kindergarten; they had never strayed from it. "You look a little bit bigger," Jeffers stated. "Like fat?" Daniel asked. "No, like lean muscle, I guess you've been training with that Michael for a little while, but it's pretty impressive for just two weeks." Daniel thought for a moment and looked at his arms, which he had now just noticed were in fact bigger. "Maybe it's because of the powers. They might enhance the results of any training that I get." "Yeah, that's probably it." Jeffers then promptly changed the subject, "You think we're gonna get some play this year or what?" Daniel laughed, "Jeez, man, I think you have other things to worry about. Like those grades, aren't you still on algebra 1?" Jeffers turned to a pout, "Hey, that class is hard." Daniel began laughing harder, "I finished that class in eighth grade, dude." "Maybe I'd have finished it in eighth grade if I had superpowers." Jeffers continued to pout. "Dude, half our grade took algebra 1 in eighth grade, you're just a dumbass." Jeffers then stopped and began scrounging around in his bag. "God damn it." Daniel then stopped, "What's wrong?" "I left my laptop at the house," Jeffers answered. "It's not like you were gonna use it." Daniel laughed. "What does Michael like personally? Has he said anything about your parents?" Jeffers asked to change the subject. "He's very," Daniel tried to think of the word, "Nostalgic." From that point on, they walked to school still talking, but not about anything notable.

When Daniel got to school, he had an unnerving feeling, like something was up. Was this intuition some form of instinct? He walked through the halls to his homeroom, and Jeffers kept talking, but a hush had fallen over Daniel. Something wasn't right. A fight was coming, and he knew it. "They're here," Daniel said, interjecting in Jeffers rambling. "What?" Daniels' focus grew, "vampires, they're here." When they walked into their home room, there were indeed several new faces, five to be exact. He could see their I.D.'s with their names. He hadn't thought about it much until now, but he was starting to suspect that his senses were enhanced by his powers. The names he saw were Dylan gay who was dressed in a normal outfit he had a weird face and blonde hair, Mylei Hubbard she was small but very pretty, but she was also suspicious in a way, Donald Dwire he looked smart but something about it came off as a lie, Ken Koxly he wore a zip up jacket and a ridiculous mullet, and last was a I.D. That said, the only doctor with no last name had a nice suit that was too nice to wear to school and very well put-together hair. They all seemed weird to Daniel, but he took no note of the fact that he hadn't met them, as he wasn't particularly social and had a bad habit of not noticing those around him. Then she came right behind him, "What are you scanning for, huh?" The voice arrogantly asked. When Daniel turned around, he saw her, Jubilee. He had known Jubilee forever; she always followed and 'investigated' Daniel. Jeffers was convinced that she had some sort of crush on him and that she was just doing this as an excuse to be near him or a weird stunt to bring his interest. Whatever it was, Daniel pretended like he didn't like it, but he actually didn't mind. Before his powers, Daniel was extremely bored, so when weird stuff happened, like a girl who accusatorily followed him, he generally was happy and would engage with it. "Oh, it's you," Daniel replied to her side eyeing her. "I know something's up." She got Daniel's face, eyeing him before walking off. "Dude, you should definitely ask for her snap. She's so into you." Jeffers peeped in. Daniel dismissively chuckled. "I'm being serious, dude, I know girls." Jeffers proclaimed. "The only girl you know is your mom," Daniel commented, much to Jeffers annoyance. Jeffers frowned before making his way to a seat, and Daniel made his way to the seat next to it. When their homeroom started, their teacher walked in front of the class and wrote his name on the board 'Mr. Nortyawn'. "I'm Mister Nortyawn. If I'm being honest, you know your homeroom is a study hall. Don't get me in trouble or yourself in trouble. I'm happy to say I usually get along with my students, and this should be a good time to study. Anyways, just stay off your phones." Mister Nortyawn said, then sat down in his chair and immediately started gambling on RainBet on his phone. Daniel and Jeffers then went about their day normally.
