When Noah and Malcolm stopped, they were all in the middle of the forest at a cabin. The cabin was covered in overgrowth like vines with thorns and flowers sprouting from those vines. There was moss on the side of the cabin; whoever was here clearly hadn't taken care of the place. "So is this the place?" Daniel asked. No one had spoken the whole walk over to the cabin, so it was a bit presumptuous to expect a response now. When they walked through the door, the inside of the cabin was dark. The walls were lined with weapons, and it smelled of fresh-brewed coffee more than anything else. The cabin was relatively cool compared to the exacerbated heat of the Texas summer. Daniels' eyes adjusted to the darkness, and he scoped around the perimeter before seeing her on the couch. It was the girl from the night before, exactly who he had assumed Jessica was. "Are you Jessica?" Daniel asked. She stood up and walked over to Daniel and grabbed a water bottle out of a refrigerator that Daniel hadn't noticed before. She then walked over and sat down on the couch. She took a drink of her water before replying, "Yes, I am, and your Daniel, right?" Daniel quickly nodded his head, "if im being honest, we need your help. I want you to join us and help us hunt vampires." Daniel paused for a second before asking, "Who is us exactly?" She nodded as if she knew exactly what he was going to ask, "We are a vampire hunting group called the mighty 4." Daniel looked at her for a moment, counting how many he had met in his head. "Obviously, there's another one of us," Jessica caught her breath for a moment, "would you like to be one of us? Make it the mighty 5?" Daniel stood there for a minute, thinking about what they had just asked him. He thought about the responsibilities his father had laid out for him and what his goals should be. In Daniel's mind, by this point, his soul's goal right now should be completing the obligations that his father had left for him. He then kind of started to think back on the things the members had done in the past. Were they really professionals? I mean, he had knocked out Noah in a single punch; he didn't even have the reflexes to dodge one punch. How would someone like that fare against a vampire coming at his throat? Is this really someone he had the time to support? Daniel had taken out a vampire before, but it had taken quite a bit of energy to do so. Then Daniel finally answered, "No, I'm sorry. I have to reject your offer. I cannot join your team." Jessica sat back in her chair. "So then, what is your goal?" she asked, "To defeat Dracula and prevent him from accomplishing his goals." When Daniel said this, a hush crept over the room. The hush continued before Noah spoke up, "You do know who Dracula is, right? You're absurd. Not in a million years could you possibly defeat him. He's too strong for-" Jessica shushed him, and he immediately stopped talking, but he did not lose the fear in his eyes. Something about what Daniel had said really messed with Noah the wrong way; he was beginning to sweat, and visibly began shaking. "I assume you know the threat that you face from Dracula?" Jessica eventually intervenes. Daniel nodded, and Noah sighed. "Well were open anytime you need us, or want to join in the future." Jessica said. Noah huffed again, "If that's really his plan, he won't be alive much longer. He might even become a vampire in the future. You almost look like one already." Then there was a knock at the door to the cabin. They all stood for a second, but the knocking continued. Noah walked up to the door and stared through a peephole, "oh its just Blake," he remarked as he began opening the door, "you know it's unlocked, you can come in, you id-" then suddenly, when the door came fully open, a hand went through his stomach.
Noah gasped and stared at the arm that had impaled him, as the arm pulled out, his guts fell with it, and he stood there for a moment before collapsing to the floor and bleeding out, gasping for air before his gasps became silent. A head then dropped to the ground presumably the one Hoah had seen through the peephole, and a hand wrapped around the door and ripped it off its hinges. Malcolm and Jessica jumped up. As the door fell, Daniel saw a tall vampire, maybe almost 7 feet tall. He then noticed it had grown dark outside. Malcolm pulled out a wooden stake and swung it at the vampire, but the vampire simply stepped out of the way, grabbed Malcolm with both hands, and snapped his neck. Malcolm collapsed to the floor, the sound of the thud ringing in Daniel's ears. The vampire attempted to grab Jessica, but she dodged. The vampire was not just tall, but it was extremely pale and had extremely long hair that had clearly not been taken care of whatsoever. Jessica attempted to pounce and land a wooden stake to the vampire's heart, but it grabbed both her shoulders and bit her esophagus out, ripping it out of her neck. She immediately dropped to the ground, her throat bleeding out, though she had clearly already lost consciousness if she wasn't already dead. The vampire then looked at Daniel and grew a twisted smile on its face, and it said, "You're the only one left, huh? Didn't do anything to defend your friends, aye boy?" then suddenly, the vampire leapt at Daniel. Daniel narrowly dodged the vampire, and he ran out of the cabin. As Daniel ran through the woods, tears streamed down his face. Daniel felt shame as he thought to himself, calling Noah a loser when he himself was a coward, running away from the very threat he had accused someone else of not being able to handle. Then it hit him, he just watched those people die, not a vampire like Chad, he just watched those people die, then the realization of what he had done to Chad hit him, he himself had taken life. There had been so much life lost, and for what reason?
