Chapter 40 - CHAPTER 34 — “SCP-████: THE INFINITE HOTEL” Part 1: Alex vs. The Foundation

Alex awakens from a peaceful nap (hotel sleep-mode = low lights, soft hum, windows closed). The Infinite Hotel senses space-time distortions near one particular universe.

The SCP Foundation Universe.

Alex has heard whispers of it—not firsthand, but in the "every universe that exists, exists" sense.A universe where anomalies are as common as vending machines, and where paranoia is a structural pillar of society.

Interesting.

He manifests his avatar.

Alex POV

Alex steps forward through the internal dimensional veil.He pushes open a doorway.

And—

He manifests directly beside Site-19.

A concrete fortress.

Barbed wire.

Watchtowers.

Gun emplacements.

Every relevant alarm activates simultaneously.

SIRENS SCREAM.

Red lights spin.

Dozens of loudspeakers come online:

"ALL PERSONNEL TO LEVEL 4 LOCKDOWN. UNKNOWN STRUCTURE DETECTED.""UNIDENTIFIED OBJECT BREACHING PERIMETER REALITY BARRIER.""FULL MTF DEPLOYMENT AUTHORIZED."

Alex slowly looks around his lobby.

"…oh.I landed in some kind of heavily fortified military base.Lovely."

The front door slides open.

And he sees them:

Hundreds of Foundation personnel

MTF Tau-5 ("Samsara"),

MTF Nu-7 ("Hammer Down"),

MTF Epsilon-11 ("Nine-Tailed Fox"),

dozens of armed security,

researchers in lab coats,

guards in full ballistic gear—

And every single one of them is aiming a weapon directly at his faceless avatar.

Some guns are normal.

Some are antimemetic.

Some are anti-entity.

Some are anti-reality.

Some are anti-everything.

Alex blinks (metaphorically).

Alex: "Okay, wow. That's… a lot of guns.Let me help with that."

He snaps his fingers.

Rule 2 Activates Automatically

Every weapon instantly vanishes.Dozens of Foundation personnel suddenly jolt forward from the sudden lack of resistance.

All their firearms rematerialize neatly inside the Confiscation Room, sorted alphabetically by type, serial number, and potential lethality.

Alex: "You'll get those back later."

He lifts a hand and points at the glowing lobby wall:

THE RULES:

No fighting.

Weapons confiscated.

Censoring near kids.

Automatic injury healing.

Pay before leaving.

Silence.

MTF Nine-Tailed Fox stares.

MTF Hammer Down stares.

MTF Samsara stares despite being semi-robotic.

Alex gives the friendliest wave a faceless avatar can produce.

Alex: "Welcome to The Infinite Hotel!""Please do not panic. Or fight. Or explode. Or do whatever it is you people normally do on Tuesdays."

He pauses, thinking:

…I hope these aren't the kind of soldiers who shoot first and explode later.

Foundation POV — Ten Minutes Before

Site-19, the most infamous, dangerous, overused, overcrowded, and narratively abused Foundation Site in existence, was having a normal day.

Meaning:

SCP-173 needed repairs on its containment cell.

SCP-682 screamed obscenities that broke 17 microphones.

SCP-999 hugged someone without permission (and was forgiven).

SCP-106 escaped containment (routine).

Someone forgot to feed SCP-131.

And in the middle of a normal Tuesday Briefing—

Every scanner detected a structure manifesting out of nowhere.

Not appearing.

Not teleporting.

Not materializing.

Not phasing.

Manifesting.

Like reality decided this building should exist.

The head researchers present at Site-19 immediately assemble:

✔ Dr. Bright ✔ Dr. Clef ✔ Dr. Gears ✔ Multiple MTF Commanders ✔ Ethics Committee representatives (crying)

Containment breach alarms go off.

Spatial displacement sensors go red.

The Overwatch Command receives 89 conflicting reports in 10 seconds.

Foundation Response Begins

Dr. Clef lights a cigarette.

Clef: "Well. That's not good."

Dr. Gears stares at the live feed.

Gears: "It is… a hotel."

Dr. Bright grins.

Bright: "I wanna go in."

Clef and Gears (simultaneously):

"NO."

Bright ignores them completely and signs a form labeled:

"DR. BRIGHT DOES WHAT HE WANTS — FORM 1075-B."

He pockets the form and walks directly toward the Infinite Hotel's doors.

Dr. Bright Breaks Reality (and the Rules)

Bright pushes open the Infinite Hotel door.

He enters.

He sees Alex.

He smiles.

Alex sees him.

And instantly realizes—this is the kind of man who will break every rule by accident and enjoy it.

Bright opens his mouth.

Alex barely whispers:

"Oh no."

In less than ten seconds, Bright:

Tries to pick up a Hive Staff member

Swears loudly

Tries to steal a lamp

Touches an extradimensional vending machine

Throws a punch at a floating cookie

Attempts to lick the infinite window

Begins asking omniversal-level questions

Tries to adopt a Hive member

Swears again

Swears a third time louder

Somehow starts a food fight with no food

Insults the Infinite Hotel carpet pattern

Attempts to order "one room for SCP-682"

Says the words "What happens if I push this?"

Alex has had ENOUGH.

He snaps his fingers.

Alex: "I'm done.Out."

Dr. Bright is instantly teleported outside, landing on his face in front of 200 horrified personnel.

A bright neon sign floats above him:

"BANNED:3–5 BUSINESS WEEKS(REASON: BEING DR. BRIGHT)"

Clef starts laughing.

Gears writes notes.

MTF steps back nervously.

Bright groans.

Bright: "Totally worth it."
