Jamie slammed the door behind him and pressed his back against it, chest heaving.
What the hell just happened?
He placed a hand over his heart, feeling it thunder like it was trying to escape his ribcage.
His face was burning, actually burning, and for a terrifying second, he wondered if he might be running a fever.
He'd just punched Jett.
And not because he hated him.
Because.... because-
"Oh, no. Nope. Not going there." He muttered to himself, shaking his head as if he could rattle the thought loose. He fanned his face with both hands. "It's just adrenaline. Or embarrassment. Yeah. That's it."
"You look haunted." a voice said behind him.
Jamie yelped, spinning so fast he nearly tripped over his own feet. "Jesus Christ, Jace! Don't sneak up on me like that!"
Jace blinked, standing in the hallway with his IV bandage still taped to his arm, looking far too amused for someone who'd just been stabbed a few days ago. "Are you being chased by a ghost?"
