The beginning of The Law of Kings Arc .
The royal summons arrived at dawn.
Not as a request—
but as law.
Golden-sealed documents were delivered to Kenji's residence, stamped with the crest of the Battle Kingdom Crown Council. The message was brief.
"Foreign Battlers are required to attend Royal Judgment."
Ryo scoffed.
"Judgment already? We just got here."
Toya adjusted his gloves.
"Expected. Power without roots scares rulers."
Aiko looked at Kenji.
"This isn't normal court. This is… testing obedience."
Kenji folded the document slowly.
"Then we go."
The Royal Hall of Kings was vast—pillars carved with the names of fallen monarchs, the floor etched with ancient karma runes that reacted to intent.
At the throne sat King Itsuki Imoja.
Calm.
Regal.
Dangerously observant.
To his right stood Royal General Kim, his presence alone radiating near–V Rank pressure. To his left—Chairman Daku, silent as stone.
And behind the king—
Yumi.
Her eyes met Kenji's for a brief second.
She looked away first.
A voice echoed.
"Kneel."
The command came from the High Council.
Ryo stiffened.
Kenji stepped forward.
"We kneel to law," he said calmly,
"not to intimidation."
The hall went silent.
Royal General Kim's fingers twitched.
King Itsuki raised a hand.
"Interesting," the king said.
"You speak as if you understand our law."
Kenji met his gaze.
"Then teach it."
A ripple spread through the hall.
The High Council murmured angrily.
"The Law of Kings," one elder spoke,
"is simple."
"Strength decides worth.
Blood decides authority.
And disobedience is punished."
A symbol ignited on the floor.
Royal Trial Mark.
"You will be tested," the elder continued.
"Refusal equals exile—or death."
Toya whispered,
"They planned this."
Kenji nodded once.
"We accept."
Yumi's breath caught.
