Morning arrived with steel and noise.
The Kingdom Trial Grounds opened for Kenji's team under royal order—an unusual honor for outsiders. Massive stone arenas stretched endlessly, each layered with karma-pressure fields designed to crush the weak.
"This isn't training," Ryo muttered.
"This is judgment."
Chairman Daku observed from a high platform, hands folded over his cane. Beside him stood Kei, eyes fixed on Kenji like a measuring blade.
"Begin," Kei announced.
The ground shifted.
From the arena floor, Royal Test Constructs rose—armored golems infused with Wind, Fire, and Lightning karma. Their presence alone pushed A-Rank pressure.
Toya stepped forward, barrier flaring.
"Formation Delta!"
The team moved instantly—proof they were no amateurs.
Aiko supported from behind, perception sharpened.
"Kenji—center construct is adapting!"
Kenji nodded.
He stepped forward.
No explosion.
No flashy aura.
Just a calm breath.
The construct lunged.
Kenji vanished.
A shockwave followed—not outward, but compressed inward. The construct's core shattered like glass from within.
Silence fell.
Chairman Daku's eyes narrowed.
"So that's it…" he murmured.
"Control without leakage."
More constructs attacked.
Kenji didn't dominate.
He led.
Orders precise. Movements minimal. Every strike calculated to protect the team first.
When the final construct fell, the arena locks disengaged.
Kei exhaled slowly.
"…They passed."
Chairman Daku spoke softly, but the words carried.
"Kenji is no rogue Battler."
He paused.
"He is a leader in formation."
Kenji felt the weight settle.
This kingdom wasn't testing his strength.
It was testing whether he deserved to exist within it.
