Night in Lungmen was still loud and dazzling—especially in District 19, where the Hungry Wolves Gang ruled unchallenged and the neon seemed brighter than anywhere else.
Karaoke lounges, bars, and casinos lined the streets. A haze of indulgence hung over everything, luring people in with easy pleasure and false glamour.
"Woo—ain't that our Fire Dragon?"
"Hey, hey—look over here, Fire Dragon!"
"Damn… he's gorgeous. Just looking at him gets me wet."
Idiots. These bottom-tier punks really had no idea what he was capable of.
Carrying the box in both arms, Chen Mo kicked the woman who sidled up to grope him—sent her flying several meters with a single strike. His irritated expression only made them more excited.
"Get lost," he said flatly. "This is something your boss wants. If you damage it, go pay her yourself."
That single sentence scattered the crowd instantly. The women backed off at once, only daring to stare from a distance.
Chen Mo clicked his tongue. He stomped past two thugs stationed outside the KTV entrance and headed straight for the VIP suite.
A scream erupted from inside.
Chen Mo's hand—raised to knock—paused in midair. Hearing the continuous, agonized cries coming through the door, he frowned and immediately wanted to leave.
He'd seen Hungry Wolf's methods. The last thing he wanted was to lose his appetite for dinner.
He turned to head downstairs and kill time in the main hall—
—and the heavy suite door opened.
A female thug in a black suit stepped out, blood on her hands. She bowed and moved aside respectfully.
"Fire Dragon, sir. The boss has been waiting for you."
"Then let her wait longer," Chen Mo snapped. "You knew I was coming and you still pulled this?"
"Uh…"
The woman stood there stiffly, unsure what to say. Unlike the street-level trash, she was one of the few who had actually witnessed Chen Mo fight.
So even if he spoke rudely about Hungry Wolf—the underground empress of District 19—she didn't dare contradict him.
From inside the room came Hungry Wolf's smooth, irritating voice.
"Come in, my Fire Dragon. The room's been cleaned for you."
"Tch. If I see anything disgusting, you're the first one I'm punching."
Chen Mo lashed his thick tail in annoyance and walked into the suite.
Outside, the woman quietly exhaled in relief. Only after Chen Mo was fully inside did she lock the door again.
The VIP room was bright and spacious, decorated with gaudy luxury. Expensive Victorian liquor filled an elegant long table. Soft music drifted through the ornate karaoke suite.
It would have looked tasteful—if Chen Mo could ignore the Feline woman on the floor, soaked in blood and wailing, and the line of gang members standing behind Hungry Wolf like a wall.
Without the slightest hesitation, Chen Mo swept a row of bottles—worth tens of thousands of LMD—off to the side and set the Penguin Logistics box down in front of Hungry Wolf.
"Here. Your delivery. If there's nothing else, I'm leaving."
"Wait, Fire Dragon." Hungry Wolf smiled. "Don't you want your payment?"
Payment?
Was she actually going to hand it over today?
Suspicious, Chen Mo folded his arms and stared at her like she'd grown a second head.
"What, did you take the wrong medicine?"
Hungry Wolf didn't mind the hostility. Still smiling, she gestured to the seat beside her.
"Sit. Let me finish handling this first."
Chen Mo didn't bother being polite. He dropped onto the couch opposite, leaning back comfortably.
"Make it quick."
Hungry Wolf nodded. Then, when she turned to the Feline woman on the floor, her expression flattened into something eerily calm.
"Five times," she said. "This is the fifth."
She looked down at the bloodied woman as if at a broken object.
"Li Hua—what gave you the confidence to think I would forgive you after refusing to pay your debt for the fifth time?"
She tilted her head, voice almost conversational.
"Was it your pretty husband?"
"Or your young son?"
Under Chen Mo's unblinking gaze, Hungry Wolf stepped forward. Her long legs lifted—slowly, deliberately—and then came down like a hammer.
THUD—!
"AAAH—!"
The pale floor tiles cracked, spiderwebbing outward under the impact. Li Hua didn't even pass out—she still had enough strength to cough blood and beg.
"Please… boss… one last time… this is the last time…"
Her voice broke into sobs.
"I'll… I'll have my man serve you again, okay? Please—give me time. I swear I'll pay the rest…"
What a scumbag.
Chen Mo looked at Li Hua with open contempt—yet his eyes never left the scene. Who didn't enjoy watching a scumbag get punished?
He even grabbed a fruit platter—one that looked painfully expensive—and started eating as if he were at a show.
"Your man?" Hungry Wolf laughed.
When she smiled like that, the pressure she gave off was genuinely frightening. Even the elite enforcers around her instinctively looked away.
Only Chen Mo sat there like nothing was happening, chewing loudly while Li Hua's pleading screams echoed through the room—creating a grotesque, surreal duet.
Hungry Wolf ignored his rudeness. She simply clapped her hands.
Clap. Clap.
"Bring them in."
The woman who had greeted Chen Mo at the door nodded, unlocked the suite, and opened it.
"Mom!"
"No—son, don't go—come back!"
The cry of a child made Chen Mo freeze mid-bite.
A small boy rushed into the room, throwing himself onto Li Hua and sobbing. Behind him came a man—arms spread wide, shielding the child—his face ashen with fear.
Chen Mo stared, surprised.
"So that's how it is," he murmured. "The scumbag's husband and kid… are you two."
"B-Big brother…?"
The boy glanced at Chen Mo—then at the elite enforcers who stood behind him with unmistakable deference.
Fear flooded the child's eyes.
He immediately buried his face in Li Hua's back and refused to look up again, clearly lumping Chen Mo in with the Hungry Wolves' "bad people."
Which, honestly, was fair.
What "good person" worked as a gangster's enforcer?
Hungry Wolf turned, amused, and looked at Chen Mo.
"Do you want me to forgive that woman—for your sake?"
"No." Chen Mo had already put the fruit down, his face cold. "Handle it however you want."
He wasn't going to involve himself in Li Hua's mess.
At most… if Hungry Wolf tried to lay a hand on the boy, then Chen Mo would step in.
Hungry Wolf seemed pleased by his answer. She curved her lips slightly and opened the box Chen Mo had delivered.
"This is—"
Medicine?
Chen Mo stared at the vials, startled by the company mark—one he recognized all too well.
"That's Rhodes Island's Oripathy suppressant, isn't it?" he asked. "You're not Infected. What do you want this for?"
Hungry Wolf's smile didn't change.
"The name 'Hungry Wolf' doesn't only refer to me, Fire Dragon."
Before Chen Mo could press further, she pulled out a box and tossed it to the husband—the man still standing stiffly in shock.
It slapped into his hands.
"You've got a decent face," Hungry Wolf said lightly. "And you're skilled with your mouth."
The man flinched, but didn't dare speak.
"From today onward, you'll be a dealer at the western district casino. This is your advance pay."
Then Hungry Wolf pointed down at the woman on the floor.
"But I want one more thing."
Her voice was calm, clinical.
"Your wife."
The man stared at the box of suppressants—his dream, his salvation—then looked at his son, who had cried himself into limp exhaustion on Li Hua's back.
He didn't hesitate.
"Thank you, Boss."
He spoke softly, as if repeating lines he'd rehearsed a thousand times. Then he picked up his son and moved to leave the suite.
"Wait," Chen Mo said.
The man's body jolted, as if struck by lightning. He stopped mid-step, hugged the child tighter, and turned back—head lowered, trembling.
"What… what else do you need, sir?"
Chen Mo didn't care about the man's fear. He pulled a paper slip from his pocket and pressed it into the man's hand.
"This is the phone number of someone at Penguin Logistics. She can get you a lot of supplies you'll need. If you ever need anything, call her."
He paused, then added bluntly,
"And don't forget to mention my name. She'll give you twenty percent off."
The man's lips trembled. He wiped his tears with the back of his hand and bowed deeply.
"Thank you, Fire Dragon, sir."
