Chapter 13 - The Aftermath of the Broadcast

The miraculous broadcast caused a sensation across the entire continent of Teyvat.

Whether it was Mondstadt, Liyue, Inazuma, or the other four nations, everyone was left in awe. The Tsaritsa of Snezhnaya questioned why they hadn't been invited to the Elite Live Room. After analyzing the situation with Childe and La Signora—the only two Harbingers currently in the room—they concluded it was likely because the broadcast currently covered the three nations where they were stationed.

Every tavern, teahouse, and social club spent the following days discussing nothing but the broadcast. Since the next session was only a few days away, the atmosphere was a mix of dread and excitement. The broadcast was impossible to resist, but watching others suffer through punishments was unexpectedly satisfying.

As Bolai, the owner of Wanyou Shop in Liyue, put it: "Watching my competitors make money feels worse than losing money myself."

In Mondstadt, on the plaza above the fountain, not far from the windmills, Glory sat on her usual bench. Being blind, her daily range of activity was small.

"The weather is quite nice today."

Glory: "An unfamiliar voice. Are you a friend from out of town?"

"I suppose you could call me a traveler. Mondstadt is certainly lively lately."

Glory: "Everyone has been talking about that mysterious broadcast. It is lively indeed. Though it's a shame I can't see it; it would be quite troublesome if I were chosen to answer."

"Hmm... that is true. Perhaps next time you'll be able to see it within your mind."

Nearby, at the Knights of Favonius headquarters, the captains were gathering for a meeting.

"Reporting, Grand Master Jean... the fish in Starfell Lake have been blasted again."

Knight Aramis reported in a low whisper. Kaeya and Amber immediately covered their faces, while Eula and the Mage Captain, Nymph, gave awkward smiles.

Who else could it be? Jean stood up and threw open the window: "Klee!"

The Immortal-Binding Rope was thrown. It streaked across the sky. Just as Klee was skipping through Whispering Woods, the golden rope descended.

"Aaah!"

Bound tight, she was pulled back to Jean's office in an instant. Jean caught the little girl in her arms, while Klee's eyes were still spinning from the speed of the flight.

"Klee! You went fish-blasting at Starfell Lake again, didn't you!"

[Lisa: Klee looks so desperate right now.]

[Amber: Acting Grand Master Jean is terrifying now. She doesn't even have to leave the headquarters; she can catch anyone within range.]

[Eula: I... I certainly don't want to experience that.]

[Amber: I've experienced it. Actually... it's not too bad.]

Ever since obtaining the Immortal-Binding Rope, Jean's reach extended from Whispering Woods in the east to the Sumeru border in the north, the edges of Stormterror's Lair in the west, and Springvale in the south. Whoever Jean targeted was caught; no one could escape. She could drag someone back from tens of thousands of meters away.

"Klee! Did you go blasting again?"

Klee held her head: "Klee will go report to the solitary confinement room."

Poor Klee was now under even stricter supervision. Jean sighed and sat back down: "Let us continue the meeting."

Eula: "The broadcast has made everyone realize the strength of Master Diluc and the power of the Acting Grand Master's new treasure. Things near Dornman Port have become much more peaceful."

"That is a good thing."

Kaeya: "Those who weren't in peak physical condition only finished their punishments two days ago. I checked on them today; aside from their legs still shaking, they are fine."

Amber smirked with her hands on her hips: "And what about you, True Lord of Ice-Bridging the Sea?"

Kaeya: "Haha, I'm fine of course. Though it would be better if the Grand Master gave me a day off."

Lisa held several books: "Per Jean's request, I have been leading a team to organize data on Liyue, Inazuma, and Sumeru over the past few days."

Jean: "When that mysterious broadcast returns in four days, everyone must take it seriously."

Nymph: "May Lord Barbatos protect us."

Jean: "Thanks to the performance of the Traveler and Paimon, as well as the broadcast, the pressure from the Fatui has lessened significantly. Do not be careless. Report any sightings of Stormterror or other anomalies immediately."

"Understood!" they shouted in unison.

At the Angel's Share, the atmosphere was boisterous.

"New customer? What can I get you?" Charles asked. "Would you like to try our new specials: The Darknight Hero?"

"Won't Master Diluc be angry about that name?"

"Not at all. This one and the 'Justice Man' are selling like crazy. We can't keep up with the demand."

Nearby, Venti was singing—he had no choice, he had debts to pay.

[Venti: I owe Master Diluc exactly 200,000 Mora.]

[Rosaria: Venti, if you include your bar tab, you actually owe 280,000 Mora.]

"I'm really looking forward to the next broadcast!"

"I'm going to snatch the answer next time! Those rewards are 30,000 or 40,000 Mora!"

"Aren't you afraid of the physical punishment?"

"Why would I be? I, Joseph, exercise regularly."

"Is that so? I know you better than that, Johnny. Wait until you're forced to run ten laps; you'll realize how miserable it is. My legs are still soft."

Outside, the children of Mondstadt were playing together, roleplaying the events.

"Don't run! I am the Darknight Hero!"

"I'm not afraid of you! I am the True Lord of Ice-Bridging the Sea!"
