Daigo, staying alert, activated the First Breath. He dodged the rock spears heading his way and then ran toward the man.
The man didn't hesitate and, forming the same seals, another Doton: Doryūheki shot toward Daigo, who could only shake his head and form his own hand seals.
Doton: Moguragakure no Jutsu.
he started to sink into the sand as if it were water evading the attack and disappearing from the field.
The rogue ninja looked around, surprised that this brat knew a technique even he himself didn't.
Daigo didn't take long to appear, emerging behind him. A strong blow connected with the rogue ninja's back, sending him flying from the force. Without waiting for him to recover, Daigo sank into the sand again, appearing once more behind the man to strike him—connecting.
The rogue could only endure and avoid the continuous hits until he seemed to tire.
"You've worn me out, you damn brat. I'll show you my strongest technique," he said, as his fist began to grow, covered by stones formed from the sand.
The already large fist was now triple the size, making the sand beneath him start to solidify from the weight of the stone fist.
The ex-ninja didn't hesitate and slammed his fist into the ground, making everything shake. Even the surrounding dunes began to move as if they had life.
Daigo, emerging from the sand, could only hold himself with one hand on the ground against the strong shockwave from the punch.
"Huh, that's an interesting technique, though it won't be enough to survive or beat me," Daigo said, this time activating the Second Breath.
His body seemed to become faster, along with the pink aura that appeared, making the ex-ninja look at Daigo in surprise as he charged at full speed toward him.
Diago just Splitz blitz him The fist, moving at full speed, struck him in the stomach, the force of the blow sending him flying backward, dragging all the sand with him and crashing into the dunes behind him.
Daigo wasted no time in continuing his attack, sending the former Chunin's body flying from side to side with his strength and speed. Seeing that his body couldn't withstand any more of the second breathing technique, Daigo leaped into the air, then descended at full speed with his fist extended to finish the fight.
The ex-ninja, tired and injure didn't give up and, threw his stone fist at Daigo's figure with all the strength he have left.
The giant stone fist was stopped by Daigo's fist, with the force of gravity and his own strengh little by little began to push it back.
The stone fist started to crack as both used more strength to finish the other.
Daigo, feeling his time with the Second Breath of the Seven Heavens was almost out, didn't hesitate to give it his 120% — managing to shatter the stone fist and punching the ex-ninja full in the face, whose eyes widened in surprise that a normal fist could break his stone fist.
Seconds later, he fell to the ground completely knocked out, and Daigo deactivated his technique, dropping to the ground and holding his knee, trying to catch as much oxygen as possible with a blood coming out from his nose.
The fight ended, and all threats were defeated.
The convoy was safe.
Daigo panted. He could only smile from ear to ear at his victory against a chūnin. Looking to his side, he noticed Takumi watching him.
"Good work, though before using your secret cards, make sure you're certain of winning and there are no more enemies, you are okay?."
"Yes sensei this blood is just for alittle overused, I Understood, Sensei," Daigo said, then feeling a hand lift him from the ground—it was Sasori's.
"I won. My puppets killed 6 bandits while you only took down one," Sasori said, looking at Daigo, who quickly shook his head.
"In your dreams you won. I beat a chūnin. That doesn't compare to a group of bandits," Daigo said, annoyed.
"That sounds like an excuse, right, Sasori?" Shizuka said with a fox-like smile, adding fuel to the fire so both would continue.
Soon after, with the ex-ninja captured, they continued their way without any issues. Once the supplies were delivered at the border outpost, Takumi spoke to the team.
"Officially, mission complete. It turned into a B-rank. Organized bandits, ex-shinobi."
Daigo, with his body still recovering, asked:
"Do you think there's something behind that attack, Sensei, or was it just that?"
"Maybe, though once they extract information from the captive, we'll know. Even though we're in peacetime after the war, that only means no large-scale war. Small attacks continue," Takumi explained to his students.
They all nodded at his words, understanding that though there was peace, it was only held by a piece of paper that could break at any moment.
The night at the border outpost was quiet, and then, at dawn, they set off back to Suna.
It took them a day to return to Suna, where Takumi gave them a week off to train or do whatever they wanted before more missions.
Daigo accepted and didn't wait long to start training the latest jutsu Chiyo had given him: Doton: Tsuchi Bakuhatsu (Earth Release: Earth Explosion). It sounded very strong, but in reality, it was just a C-rank that could be useful in situations.
The main function of this jutsu was to strike the ground with chakra to create a small explosion of sand/rock that blinds or unbalances nearby enemies—in short, create a quake similar to Tsunade's punches, though not as explosive as hers.
So he began his training as the week passed.
With Takumi, about three days of the free week had passed for his students—and for himself—and he had just received a call to go to the Kazekage's tower.
Not wanting to keep the Third Kazekage waiting, he used his beloved shunshin, arriving at the main door in seconds.
He entered quickly; the secretary, knowing he had to pass, said nothing. Arriving at the door, he knocked three times, and a voice told him to come in.
Without delay, he opened the door, walked a few steps, and bowed to show respect to the Third Kazekage.
"It's a pleasure to see you again, Kazekage-sama. To what do I owe the reason for my summons?" Takumi said in a respectful voice.
"Thank you for coming quickly. It's nothing too important—just curiosity. I've heard a lot about your students from Chiyo and many others. What are your thoughts on them?" the Third Kazekage asked.
"My students... I'd say they're special, Kazekage. There's potential in Sasori—his puppet skills are at the level of someone with years of experience, and the more he gains from missions and training, he could become an elite jōnin if trained well, like his grandmother Chiyo.
As for Shizuka from the Museifu clan, I can say she's the clan's jewel. She has perfect control over her bloodline, along with her combat style—she could perfectly be an ANBU captain and go further," Takumi said, giving a brief description of two of his students.
"One's missing, right? Daigo, I think his name is. What do you think of him?" the Kazekage asked more seriously.
"Do you want my opinion or that of his teacher?" Takumi asked.
"Yours."
"From the little time I've had with him, he has a very intense training routine, which has given him a very strong body for his age. Even in a small test I gave them, my wind clone had to use more force than normal to stop his punches.
Though that's not all—his chakra is already jōnin level at 9 years old, and his earth affinity is not normal. I spoke with Chiyo recently to learn more about him, since she's known him since he was little, and she said the reaction of the chakra paper to his affinity was completely different," Takumi explained.
"I see—a well-formed body from a young age, high chakra capacity at 9 years old, and very strong earth affinity. Sounds like a diamond being polished with good tools," the Third Kazekage said.
"I think the same. I believe the whole group is the most talented—thanks to him not just focusing on ninjutsu. His taijutsu is strong, along with his mindset—for the future war, we'll see what he's made of," Takumi said.
"I thought the same. Do you know anything about his dreams or goals?" the Kazekage asked.
"It's curious—he says he wants to become the Fourth Kazekage to lead Suna to be the strongest village in the world."
"Fourth Kazekage... curious. I have this technique—it's from the ninja you captured on the mission. It's a B-rank jutsu: Doton: Kengan no Jutsu (Earth Release: Fist Rock Technique). Give it to him to see if he's capable of learning it. It might be complicated for him, since we couldn't get more information from the corpse.
So it'll be a test for him. Train them well—the village needs these geniuses to stay strong for the next ninja war. You may go," the Kazekage said.
Takumi just nodded, taking the scroll, then disappearing from the room. Seconds later, a shadow in the room seemed to open, and from it emerged a ninja with a white mask.
"What do you think of this boy, Rasa?" the Third Kazekage said without looking at him.
"Promising, Sensei, but without the power to control sand like us, he'll never become Kazekage," Rasa said, looking at his sensei.
"Do you really believe that, Rasa? Even though we have a powerful technique, it doesn't make us invincible. If it did, we wouldn't be having these wars," the Third Kazekage said.
"Sensei, I understand that, but you know no one has come close, and I don't think there ever will be a ninja from this village who can do something like Magnet Release. The closest is Scorch Release, but there's only one available user left," Rasa said.
The Third Kazekage just shook his head at his disciple's closed-mindedness. Sometimes he wondered if training him had been the best choice—and though he had gotten another person to use Magnet Release, he wasn't sure if it was worth it.
Rasa, seeing the Third Kazekage wasn't speaking, thought he was considering it.
"Think about it, Sensei. Would Konoha be the strongest village without their bloodlines? That's why our Kazekages should have one," Rasa said.
"Rasa, don't you have something more important to do? You're making me want to have a training session with you if you keep talking," the Third Kazekage said, looking at Rasa with a piercing glare that made him feel a drop of sweat on his back.
"Yes, Sensei. I'll go now. We'll talk later," Rasa said, disappearing in a whirlwind of Gold Dust.
Finally, the Third Kazekage could only sigh and look at the desk to see the scroll on his table that Chiyo had delivered about Daigo.
"Maybe if he does something different, I'll take a new disciple. But for now, it's not possible," he said, standing from his chair and leaving the room, leaving everything as it was.
