Chapter 291 - Decisions and Choices - Chapter 291

A few days later, Conrad had locked himself inside his room and entered a deep state of thought and planning.

From what he could feel, the time he needed to create a new ability was approximately three months, and that duration coincided with the week of the Underground Yorknew Auction.

"There's not really much to do for now," he thought.

"First, I should search for Nen users and recruit at least one more Nen user into the group within these three months," he thought to himself.

Even though finding members sounded easy in theory, it was not easy at all. The conditions that new members had to accept were harsher than those of the first members, but there still had to be a way.

"How can I find a strong Nen user?" he asked himself.

If possible, Conrad wanted the Nen user to be someone who already existed within the series rather than raising and training one from scratch.

At the very least, even the Nen user's base level needed to be strong enough to fight in Battle Olympia, and preferably at the level of a Floor Master.

"In that case, there's no harm in visiting Heaven's Arena and doing some research," he thought.

With that thought, Conrad immediately bought a ticket and boarded an airship at noon, heading directly towards Heaven's Arena.

After entering his personal room in Heaven's Arena, he smiled.

"It's been a while since I came to this room," he thought with another smile.

After entering the room, Conrad opened his computer and began actively examining the profiles of the Floor Masters.

Because the Floor Masters had fought many times and were considered the most valuable fighters, there were numerous sources and videos about them, especially on the Hunter website.

Although Conrad had developed some doubts regarding whether the Hunter website should or should not be used, he still chose to use it and accessed deeper information in exchange for a small payment.

After an hour of research, he narrowed his targets down to three people.

The people he selected needed to meet specific conditions:

"1 – They must want to join the group and have a reason for doing so."

"2 – They must accept payment in exchange for joining the group."

"3 – Their combat power must be at a high level even among the Floor Masters."

After finding three people who met these conditions, he began reading their details.

"Erina Lileth."

"Transmuter – Close-Combat Fighter".

"Nen Ability – Erina possessed the ability to transform her body, and through this transformation, she gained a body resembling ancient vampires. Her speed and strength increased dramatically; she could grow claws, and her teeth resembled those of a vampire. At the same time, although detailed information was scarce, it was also clear that the act of 'Drinking Blood' granted her certain enhancements and effects."

Conrad could not help but smile while reading the details about the woman. He found it interesting that someone was using the Transmuter Nen Category to transform into a vampire.

"I'm sure that even if the information is incomplete, her power is much lower during daytime hours, and she probably suffers from a major negative effect. Without a limitation like that and significant potential, there's no way such a Nen ability could be this powerful," he thought.

Conrad then looked at the details of the second person.

"Arteum Nelfi."

"Emitter."

"Long-Range Fighter – Capable Close-Combat Fighter."

"Arteum could shape his Nen into something resembling a long-barrelled tube-like firearm. At the same time, he could create Nen bullets within that tube, and in exchange for fulfilling certain conditions, he could hit his target exactly where he aimed and deal tremendous damage."

"At the same time, Arteum could use the tube-like long-barrelled weapon he created like a staff in close combat and fight with it."

Conrad took a deep breath.

"He must be quite a straightforward yet powerful Nen user. If the conditions required to hit his target really allow him to fire Nen bullets as strong and destructive as they say, then he's serious," he thought.

Arteum had caught Conrad's interest, but he still chose to examine the last person as well.

"Valian Revil."

"Transmuter – Conjuration".

"Strategist – Mid-Range Fighter".

"Valian could create a weapon with two forms. One of these forms was a kind of medical injector, while the other was a long spear-like needle made entirely of silver."

"As long as certain conditions and requirements were fulfilled, Valian could use his medical weapon to attack his target from a distance with small needles and apply effects such as destabilisation, weakening, and enhancement. At the same time, he could fight in close and mid-range combat using the large needle, and if he pierced his opponent, he could affect them with various additional effects."

Conrad let out a light breath and nodded.

"Out of the three of them, Valian's ability is genuinely very interesting and would probably be far more useful for the group," he thought.

-

Conrad's main reason for thinking this way was that compared to the others, Valian's ability, at least in its known form, was far more versatile and could be evaluated from many different angles. Yes, Arteum was more of a long-range fighter, while Erina was completely specialised in close combat.

What Conrad wanted right now was someone who possessed mastery in fighting on both sides. By that, he meant someone capable of fighting both from a distance, meaning mid-range combat, and up close, while also being able to disrupt enemies, deal damage, and support teammates with various effects on the battlefield.

"But... how can I invite someone like that?" he asked himself.

Conrad knew that every Nen user was unique in their own way and that most of them needed to make careful decisions before joining a team, especially a team like his that was formed through a Nen ability and bound by conditions.

"I'm not dealing with idiots right now."

"These people are at least around the level Reginald was when I first met him, maybe slightly weaker."

"But each of them is strong and intelligent in their own way."

"Perhaps the best tactic is to be direct and honest."
