Chapter 290 - Time For New Members - Chapter 290

Late into the night, Elena quickly bought a ticket for an aircraft and headed towards the hotel where Mizaistom was staying in order to meet him.

By the morning hours, Elena had arrived in a nearby town where Mizaistom was located.

She took a taxi to the hotel and, after arriving at the entrance, stepped inside and knocked on the door to Mizaistom's room.

The door opened, and she entered. Mizaistom was alone.

"Come in," he said.

Elena stepped inside and immediately began paying attention to her surroundings.

"He looks alone, but he isn't. There's a Nen user in the bathroom."

Elena did not consider this a bad sign. It was perfectly natural for Mizaistom to have Hunters or unknown Nen users working for him as protection or support during special situations.

"I want you to explain everything in detail." Mizaistom said after pointing towards a chair.

Elena sat down. Mizaistom poured himself a coffee and glanced at Elena as if asking whether she wanted one too.

Normally, Elena would never refuse coffee, so she didn't refuse this time either.

Acting out of character could make Mizaistom suspicious.

Mizaistom poured another cup for Elena.

Elena began explaining the events and all the details.

She did not leave out how difficult it had been or how Conrad had been suspicious.

If she claimed she had taken control of Conrad too easily, it would not sound believable.

"Especially when I started pushing into sexual topics, Conrad began reacting repeatedly, and after that I managed to take control..." she explained.

Ten minutes later, Elena had fully explained how she controlled him and the entire situation in detail.

Mizaistom took a deep breath and sipped his coffee.

"So what exactly did he know? You said he didn't know the truth about the matter. Explain precisely what he knew, and don't leave out any details," he said.

Elena nodded and explained that Conrad had become suspicious because he could not understand why Mizaistom had contacted him in that way. She added that Conrad believed Mizaistom's real goal was to make him indebted through favours and kindness before eventually turning him into a personal subordinate and "his man".

Those details reinforced Mizaistom's earlier mistake, but at least they also showed that Conrad's awareness had not reached the point Mizaistom had feared.

"Yes... I'd rather have him think this way than discover the secret."

"If he thinks like this, the relationship can still be repaired."

"But if he discovered the secret and refused to agree to keep it hidden, then the matter would become one of life and death." Mizaistom thought.

Elena looked directly into his eyes, clearly wanting something.

"Ah..."

"Yes."

"There was still another one billion Jenny payment that needed to be made..." Mizaistom said after realising why Elena was looking at him, and he immediately transferred the payment through his phone.

If Elena did not appear eager to take the money or forgot about it, that itself could become suspicious.

Elena finished her coffee, looked at the one billion Jenny that had arrived in her account, and smiled.

"Thank you," she said.

"I'll never accept another mission involving Conrad again... I barely succeeded. I only managed it during the final moments before the time limit ended," she added.

Mizaistom nodded, and Elena left the hotel.

Conrad had called all the group members into his room. Each of them was holding something to drink.

"So this is the overall situation." Conrad said while looking into each of their eyes and measuring their reactions.

Anisa thought for a moment before responding.

"It would've been much better if we knew exactly what the Nen ability placed on the Hunter Exam and Hunter License could actually affect."

"Without knowing the extent of its influence, it's very difficult to discuss this properly," she added.

Conrad nodded.

"You're right."

"But according to Nen rules, the exam itself, the risk of death, the conditions required to obtain the licence, and the fact that you must carry it around — these are all extremely serious conditions. If those conditions and rules are involved, then the ability shouldn't be limited to simply locating people." Conrad said.

Conrad's words caused every one of them to sink into deep thought.

"The thing I'll focus on... is removing this Nen ability from myself."

"And when I do remove it, I may also create hostility. You'll become targets too," Conrad said.

Every member looked into Conrad's eyes and smiled.

"When we joined this group and accepted you as our leader, we already accepted that risk." Reginald said while placing a hand on Conrad's shoulder.

After that action, Conrad once again realised the importance of having a group and supporters behind him.

As long as he had people he trusted, there was no reason for him to fear even the Hunter Association.

Conrad smiled in response to Reginald's words, sat back in his chair, and allowed the others to continue talking.

"I need one or two more members..."

At that moment, Conrad's two main goals were clear.

He needed one or two more powerful members.

And at the same time, he needed to develop a Nen ability capable of removing dangerous Nen curses and persistent Nen abilities attached to himself.
