Chapter 15 - The Category and Effect Of The System - Chapter 15

After finishing his notes on the martial artists and instructors he might contact later, Conrad didn't even realize how much time had passed.

The city outside the window slowly changed as daylight faded, replaced by artificial lights and distant noise.

Conrad closed his notebook and stood up.

"This is the right time," he said quietly.

He didn't want distractions, and he didn't want to delay it anymore.

Understanding his Nen category was a foundation-level matter.

Everything else training, ability design, combat style would be built on top of it.

He prepared the Water Divination carefully.

A clean glass.

Fresh water. Calm breathing.

Nen controlled and stable.

He placed the glass on the desk and gently laid a leaf on the surface of the water.

Sitting straight, Conrad activated Ten, making sure his aura flowed evenly without spikes.

Then he released a controlled amount of Nen into the water.

At first, nothing happened.

Then the leaf began to move.

It didn't tremble or sink.

Instead, it started to spin, slowly at first, then faster and faster.

The rotation was smooth but intense, clearly counter-clockwise, gaining speed until it looked almost unnatural.

Conrad watched silently.

No waves formed.

The water itself didn't overflow or freeze.

Only the leaf moved, spinning at a constant, powerful rate.

After several seconds, Conrad nodded.

"A Manipulator," he whispered.

There was no surprise in his voice.

Manipulation made sense.

Control, separation, multitasking those ideas aligned well with how his mind worked.

Even his "Infinite Nen Abilities" system leaned toward precise management rather than brute force.

He exhaled slowly and let the aura fade. The leaf stopped spinning and floated calmly again.

But Conrad didn't move.

Something felt… off.

Not wrong.

Just incomplete.

He frowned slightly and leaned back in his chair.

This wasn't the first time he had felt this sensation.

Ever since he arrived in this world, there were moments especially when interacting with the system where it felt like part of him was operating under different rules.

"As if I'm wearing a limiter," he thought.

Conrad closed his eyes and focused inward.

"The system," he said silently. "I'll use it properly this time."

He entered what he referred to as system mode.

It wasn't flashy.

Just a mental shift.

His awareness sharpened, his thoughts became structured, and his aura felt more layered like multiple streams running in parallel rather than a single flow.

He opened his eyes again.

The glass was still there. The water calm. The leaf untouched.

Conrad repeated the process.

This time, when he poured Nen into the water, the response was completely different.

The leaf didn't spin immediately.

Instead, it rose.

Slowly, gently, the leaf lifted off the surface of the water, hovering a few centimeters above it. Conrad's eyes narrowed, his focus sharpening further.

Then, while levitating, the leaf began to rotate much slower than before, but perfectly stable.

That alone was abnormal.

But it didn't stop there.

Symbols began to form.

They weren't carved or written physically, but faint shapes appeared on the inside of the glass, like reflections or etched light.

Lines, circles, abstract patterns none of them letters from any language he recognized, yet they felt deliberate, structured.

The water itself responded subtly, forming barely visible currents that didn't spill or ripple outward.

Conrad didn't interrupt.

He watched, analyzed, and memorized everything.

After several seconds, the symbols faded. The leaf slowly descended back onto the water's surface. Everything returned to normal.

Silence filled the room.

Conrad leaned back and closed his eyes.

When he opened them again, there was clarity.

"In my normal state," he said quietly, "I'm a Manipulator."

That much was undeniable.

"But when I focus… when I enter system mode…"

He paused, choosing his words carefully.

"I become a Specialist."

Not a pure one but close enough.

More importantly, it wasn't random.

"I retain high-level compatibility with Manipulation, and strong affinity with Conjuration."

That explained a lot.

The system didn't just give him freedom to create abilities.

It changed how his Nen behaved when active.

It allowed him to bypass certain mental limitations, distributing control, memory, and aura management in a way normal Nen users couldn't.

Conrad rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

"Manipulator as a base… Specialist when enhanced…"

That meant flexibility, but also responsibility.

"This changes my path," he said softly.

Weapon choice, combat style, ability structure all of it needed reconsideration now.

A Manipulator-Specialist hybrid wasn't common.

He was lot like Kurapika, he becomes a specialist as his eyes turns red and he activates the Emperor Time, but he, himself becomes a specialist when he enters the system mode.

It wasn't safe either.

Specialists were unpredictable, and many ended up weaker because they did not know what can they do with their abilities.

Conrad turned away from the window and deactivated Ten completely, letting his body rest.

"I'm still an amateur," he admitted. "But at least now, I know what I am."
