Chapter 116 - Chapter 114:The Death List

Chapter 114: The Death List (Bonus Chapter)

Otonashi Chiya ignored the guards entirely. Utilizing his "Kamui" ocular technique, he moved like a phantom, flickering rapidly through the hallways. Each flash was accompanied by a sense of spatial distortion, a result of him constantly opening and closing miniature spatial vortexes to blink forward.

Though he became physical during the split second of each dash, he immediately returned to an "intangible" state upon landing. Even a hail of bullets couldn't touch him.

Soon, Chiya reached the doors of a specific chamber. Standing outside, he could already hear the frantic voices within.

"What's the situation now? Did that giant just disappear?"

"Dammit! We've lost contact with all the Hybrids. They couldn't have been defeated this quickly, could they?!"

"Impossible! How could that many weapon-humans die all at once?!"

"Wait! That kid... he's broken in! He's... right outside the door..."

Hearing this, Chiya was certain that the majority of the high command was gathered inside. He simply phased through the reinforced door, which usually required biometric fingerprint authorization to open.

At that exact moment, just as someone had announced his presence outside, everyone in the room instinctively looked toward the entrance. They watched in horror as a red tiger-patterned mask slowly emerged through the solid metal.

Chiya walked in calmly, his gaze sweeping over the room to identify his targets. Aside from the high-ranking officials, there was no one else present—not even a bodyguard. Under normal circumstances, no one could breach that door. With five Hybrids and a small army of armed personnel outside, plus elite Devil Hunters patrolling nearby, the security was theoretically impenetrable. These men should have been in the safest place on earth.

But Chiya's "Double Kamui" defied all logic. To him, these defenses were non-existent.

"You! What do you think you're doing?!"

One man questioned Chiya with a harsh, demanding tone. He clearly hadn't grasped his current situation yet, still clinging to the illusion of his superior status. As it happened, this man was on Chiya's "list."

Ignoring the outburst, Chiya began to speak in a voice as cold as ice: "Yekniv, Makor, Kairich..."

Like a teacher taking attendance, he recited every name on his list. The officials who heard their names felt their hearts tighten, terrified of what would come next. If the Hybrids—their strongest assets aside from the Gun Devil itself—had been wiped out, these men, who rarely made contracts with devils themselves, stood no chance.

To be called out one by one in that chilling tone, knowing they were utterly defenseless, pushed their anxiety to the breaking point.

"Rogerko. We'll start with you."

Chiya's gaze locked onto Rogerko—the man who had just spoken so arrogantly. The chain hidden in Chiya's left sleeve shot out, instantly coiling around Rogerko's throat.

"Gah! Ack!—"

Rogerko clawed at the chain around his neck, his face turning purple as he began to suffocate. He was powerless against Chiya's immense strength and was dragged across the floor, his legs thrashing desperately.

"Save... save me..."

Rogerko was already suffocating so badly he could barely speak; he could only manage unintelligible gurgles as he gestured for help from the others. But the others were too busy trying to save their own skins—paralyzed by terror, they couldn't have cared less about him.

When Chiya dragged Rogerko to his feet, the man looked at him with a face full of agony and despair. He wanted to beg for mercy, but the words wouldn't come. He couldn't even see Chiya's face—only a single, blood-red Kamui eye filled with icy killing intent. He was utterly hopeless.

Without a word, Chiya swung his tachi, slitting the man's throat in one clean stroke.

"Aaaaaahhh—!!"

As Rogerko fell, several people in the room broke out into frantic screams.

"Next: Yekniv."

Like the Grim Reaper himself, Chiya killed every person whose name he called. The man named Yekniv turned pale, scrambling away like a headless fly, looking for any exit. However, aside from the window, the only way out was the door directly behind Chiya. Jumping from this height—hundreds of meters up—was a death sentence.

Chiya didn't even give him the chance to reach the window. The chain shot out again, coiling around Yekniv's neck. Chiya walked over personally and, under Yekniv's terrified gaze, cut him down.

By now, many in the room had suffered total mental breakdowns. Because they were the ones whose names had been on Chiya's initial list, they knew it was only a matter of time before their turn came. Some tried to flee in a panic; others, driven mad by fear, charged at Chiya to fight for their lives.

Those who tried to strike him simply passed through his body. He would turn and deliver a casual counter-slash, leaving another body on the floor.

Chiya then flickered to the doorway, raising his tachi and pointing it at those attempting to flee. The blade, shimmering with a cold, blood-red light, forced them back half a step, their courage to escape instantly vanishing.

"I am only killing those on the list," Chiya said coldly. "But if the rest of you keep moving, I will execute everyone without exception."

Those whose names hadn't been called let out a massive collective sigh of relief. It seemed they might survive. However, their hearts remained in their throats; they didn't dare move a muscle or make a sound, fearing that a slight shift in his mood might lead him to kill them too.

As for the officials on the list, they were in a state of total collapse. They couldn't run, and staying meant waiting in line for death. Some begged hysterically for their lives, but Chiya remained unmoved, as if he heard nothing. His face, hidden behind the mask, betrayed no emotion.

"Makor. Kairich."

This time, Chiya called two names at once. The chain lashed out, binding them together. He simply held the tension, letting the two suffocate to death—a far more painful end than a quick blade to the throat.

With every person Chiya killed, the psychological torture intensified for those remaining. They could do nothing but wait in agonizing, excruciating anticipation for their own end to arrive.

The officials who hadn't been named gradually began to calm down and piece together his objective. Every victim was someone who had authorized the operation against him. Those spared had either remained neutral or opposed the decision at the time.

It was clear now: this was a calculated mission of pure revenge.
