Chapter 90: Susanoo, Third Form (Bonus Chapter)

"...Huh?"

Otonashi Chiya was momentarily dazed. He truly couldn't fathom why Shingetsu cared so much about something like this... Was the reason Shingetsu had been so cold toward Ian also because of this?

This only made him more confused. Taking someone around to familiarize them with local spots or teaching them the ropes of Soviet protocols—weren't those exactly the kind of tedious chores people found troublesome? Why would anyone fight to do them?

Chiya's previous two rejections of Shingetsu's invitations hadn't been out of spite. It was simply because he had already promised Ian beforehand. His principle was that once a promise was made, he should do his best not to break it. Therefore, he was utterly baffled as to why Shingetsu was so obsessed with these menial tasks.

Seeing Chiya's delayed response, Shingetsu pressed, "I want your answer."

"You've really got me spinning," Chiya sighed softly. "It seems you truly have too much free time on your hands. Since you're so fond of those troublesome chores, I'll leave them to you."

This time, there was no prior agreement with Ian. Furthermore, Ian had been getting busier with his training lately, and Chiya hoped he would focus more on that. Otherwise, a Military Devil Hunter lacking training would be in much greater danger when out on missions. Chiya hadn't actually wanted to trouble anyone else to help him adapt to the Soviet environment—he could have done it slowly on his own—but since Shingetsu was being so strangely "passionate," he decided to indulge this bizarre obsession.

It wasn't that Chiya was too dense to realize Shingetsu was a girl in disguise. It was because... Ian was a guy! If Ian had been a girl, Chiya might have guessed that Shingetsu was a girl in disguise who was acting out of jealousy.

"Very well." Chiya's answer left Shingetsu highly satisfied. "Once this mission is over, I'll take you to the Winter Palace."

"Before thinking about that, we should probably deal with that big guy first," Chiya said, his tone turning solemn.

In the vast plains ahead, a hurricane had appeared. And it wasn't just any hurricane—it was the Typhoon Devil.

The Typhoon Devil's cyclone was composed entirely of intestines. In the center sat a massive half-head resembling a human child. The creature was gargantuan, standing at least dozens of meters tall. It was wantonly destroying everything in its path. Even from a distance, Chiya and Shingetsu could feel a powerful suction—and the devil likely hadn't even begun using its full power yet.

Hurricanes and typhoons were essentially the same thing: natural disasters with extreme destructive power that invoked deep fear in humanity. Although it was killed by the combined efforts of Denji and Beam in the original story, the Typhoon Devil's strength was absolutely formidable.

And more importantly...

"According to Director Lev's intelligence, the devil appearing this time has consumed a flesh fragment of the Gun Devil, right?" Chiya spoke, half to himself and half to Shingetsu.

"That should be the one." Shingetsu's expression also turned slightly grave.

A devil of such gargantuan proportions, and one so difficult to approach, presented an obvious and extreme challenge to hunt. In the original story, the reason Chainsaw Man could get close to the Typhoon Devil was through a combined effort with Beam; as the Shark Fiend, Beam could swim through the hurricane itself.

"It's tricky, but we have no choice but to go in. Otherwise, it's going to tear right into the densely populated residential areas," Otonashi Chiya said, his tone remarkably calm.

A Typhoon Devil bolstered by a fragment of the Gun Devil's flesh was arguably the strongest opponent he had encountered to date. This creature had appeared in the original work without such a power-up and had already demonstrated formidable strength. In the original timeline, the Typhoon Devil knew Reze, likely because it had been subdued by the Soviet Union previously—after all, Reze was the Soviet military's "Secret Weapon." If the Military Devil Hunters couldn't handle the Typhoon Devil, they would send in their Secret Weapon.

In that scenario, the Gun Devil fragment would have been seized by the Soviets, but the Typhoon Devil wouldn't have been killed. Later, it was likely controlled by Makima; even Reze was surprised to see it appear in Japan, when in reality, Makima was pulling the strings from the shadows.

"It can't be stopped," Shingetsu said, shaking his head.

Though he was confident in his own power, that confidence was limited to his personal combat ability. The Typhoon Devil was about to invade a residential district; he couldn't physically block a storm of that scale, and the area was about to suffer catastrophic damage...

"Let me handle it," Chiya said. He had already devised a strategy.

His offensive Kamui certainly couldn't one-shot a Typhoon Devil this massive, especially one reinforced by the Gun Devil's flesh, so he didn't even bother trying. To block a monster about to flatten a city and prevent mass casualties, he would have to unleash the power of Susanoo!

No matter how strong the Typhoon Devil was, it wouldn't surpass Susanoo; no matter how large its body, it wouldn't dwarf Susanoo.

Under Shingetsu's bewildered gaze, a giant, light-blue ribcage erupted from Chiya's body, surrounding Shingetsu as well. Even in its Initial Form, it almost completely neutralized the powerful suction generated by the Typhoon Devil.

"What is this?" Shingetsu asked, his voice laced with shock and suspicion. He had never seen Susanoo before.

Chiya didn't answer immediately. Instead, he continued to evolve the form. To completely halt the Typhoon Devil's advance, he needed to reach at least the Second or Third Form.

The Susanoo began to grow rapidly from its skeletal ribs, forming a skeletal upper body before being layered with muscle and robes. It even sprouted a complete lower body, reaching the Third Form. Its height doubled from the Second Form, standing eye-to-eye with the Typhoon Devil—perhaps even slightly taller! (This version refers to Madara's Third Form Susanoo, as Madara's Third and Fourth forms differ greatly from Sasuke's.)

The Sword of Fury was manifested in the Susanoo's hand, scaled up into a colossal blade dozens of meters long.

[Ding! Allocation complete. Vitality +40!]

[Vitality: 440]

Pushing Susanoo directly to the Third Form placed significant pressure even on the current Chiya. Consequently, he dumped all his available attribute points into Vitality.

By now, Chiya and Shingetsu were positioned within the head of the Susanoo rather than on the ground. Standing suddenly dozens of meters in the air, Shingetsu struggled to maintain his composure. While this was clearly Chiya's devil power, he had never imagined Chiya possessed a power of this magnitude!
