"The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse?" I repeat, though Kevin's words rang crystal clear.
"Exactly," my cousin confirms.
"Those nightmare riders who gallop around spreading death and destruction?" I press, my gaze darting between Kevin and Hugo with growing alarm.
Beneath my feet, Alberto goes rigid. When a demon tenses up like that, you know the situation has gone from bad to catastrophic.
My hand instinctively traces circles over my swollen belly, feeling Simona's gentle movements within. The sharp pain from earlier has faded, replaced by an odd warmth spreading through my womb. It's going to be okay, sweetheart. We'll find our way out of this mess.
Right now, I'm not sure which terrifies me more - being stuck in the depths of Hell, these legendary harbingers of doom breaking free, or the very real possibility that I might deliver my baby while all hell literally breaks loose around us.
