Nora's POV
"James!" I scream, racing forward with every intention of using magic to drag him back inside before he turns to ash. He has already made it down the front steps and is walking along the cobblestone pathway when I burst through the door. Mack and Evangeline follow close behind, sensing my terror.
But James is not burning. His skin shows no signs of charring or blistering. He blinks in wonder, holding his hands up to examine them in the bright light.
"Does the sun always feel this incredible?"
I freeze in front of him, my mouth hanging open in shock. "This is nothing compared to summer heat." I shake my head frantically. "How is this possible?"
"The Horsemen walk in daylight."
"So you decided to test if you could too?"
"I felt it deep in my bones," he admits, turning toward me. "Your hair catches fire in the sunlight. Much more beautiful than when you stand by a window." His fingers slide through my hair. "Your eyes are like emeralds."
