Nora's POV
"Vampire?" I repeat, my voice catching. "In Vivian Hill?"
"I'm afraid so," Charlette confirms, her expression grim.
Besides James and Antonia, only two registered vampires live in our town. They're young, and around Halloween, I had James meet with them. He laid down the basic rules: don't mess with any residents because most of us are witches, and as new vampires, they might not sense our magic properly.
Those vampires agreed to follow our unofficial guidelines. James didn't think they'd cause trouble, and they haven't. I've heard nothing about them since, which means they're blending in well with the non-magical humans.
"How serious is this?" Ophelia asks, pulling Dahlia tighter against her chest.
"Strangely, no one died," Charlette says, her eyes narrowing. "Thirteen victims were hospitalized for blood loss with no memory of what happened. Most were treated and released, and everyone should recover fully."
