Nora's POV
The number of times I've actually ridden a horse could be counted on one hand, and every single one of those occasions involved a docile, well-trained animal being guided by an experienced instructor. So naturally, I have absolutely zero clue how to control a horse, much less one that happens to be an ancient malevolent spirit masquerading as every young girl's dream pet.
Gripping the leather reins tightly, I burst into laughter at the sheer absurdity that this plan actually worked. But my triumph is short-lived as the creature suddenly rears up, its hooves striking the air violently. Something feels fundamentally wrong, like opposing magnetic forces trying to repel each other. The horse dances restlessly beneath me before lowering its head and launching into a vicious bucking motion.
I'm airborne in seconds, crashing hard onto my side and tumbling across the frigid, gritty ground.
