Savannah's POV
"Let's go!"
"Come on, let's grab coffee with them, sweetheart! You were excited to see them, and it seems wasteful to leave so early!"
Dennis put on his wounded act, his body trembling as though he'd been caught red-handed. Everything with Dennis was theater, pure performance art. But even the best show had to end somewhere before it became absurd.
"We'll cover the bill! No worries!" he announced cheerfully.
"Feel free to enjoy coffee with your precious brother and his shiny new wife. I'm taking our son home!"
I straightened my spine and stepped away from him deliberately. His green eyes flashed with annoyance, but I ignored it completely. His displeasure meant nothing to me anymore.
Nothing Dennis did could truly hurt me now, because when he destroyed what we had years ago, he'd sealed his own fate in the process. He'd made himself just as trapped as I was.
