Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: The Battle of Caelmor

Ralden marches out of Caelmor Castle with a massive army and begins his journey toward Eryndor. All developments are immediately reported to Ferdinand.

Orlan (Ferdinand's aide):

– (Joyfully) My lord, Eryndor has been conquered! The Emperor's warriors have delivered the news! The unconquerable Eryndor has fallen to Emperor Aeth!

Ferdinand:

– (Excited) This is wonderful news, Orlan!

Ferdinand (thinking):

Brother Fredrin was right. He is stronger than the other emperors. This means the Chaos Empire has a great future. I can feel that I chose the right side.

Ferdinand:

– (Serious) Now it is our turn. We cannot afford a single mistake. By conquering the unconquerable Eryndor, the Emperor has proven that every land can fall. We must not fail.

Orlan:

– My lord, the other news is that Ralden has set out with a massive army. There is almost no military force left in the city.

Ferdinand:

– Not surprising. As far as I know, Ralden is a very cowardly man. Frankly, I didn't expect him to leave his castle. But this works in our favor. Because of his cowardice, he took the entire army with him. Prepare everyone — we will conquer Caelmor!

Orlan:

– I will carry out your orders immediately, my lord!

Caelmor Palace…

Guards:

– My lord, the castle is under attack! The castle is under attack!

Jorvan:

– What nonsense are you spouting? Lord Ralden left the castle this morning. Perhaps they have returned.

Guard:

– No, my lord. The banners are different. A massive army stands outside the castle walls. What are your orders?

Jorvan:

– Of course, defend the castle immediately! It seems they waited deliberately for Lord Ralden to leave. Mobilize the castle's defensive forces at once. They must believe the entire army left with Ralden.

Jorvan (thinking):

Fortunately, Ralden had requested additional troops from the capital to strengthen defenses against popular uprisings. Who would have thought his cowardice would turn out to be useful?

By Jorvan's command, the additional twenty thousand warriors sent from the capital were immediately mobilized to defend the castle. The reason Ralden did not take them was that these forces had been dispatched directly under the Chief General Gervan's orders for Caelmor's defense.

At that time, Caelmor was plagued by frequent civilian uprisings. After the capital's forces arrived, the unrest temporarily subsided. The troops under General Gervan were especially known for their cruelty and brutality.

Jorvan:

– Summon Rasen immediately.

Guard:

– Yes, my lord.

Rasen arrives. He is the commander of the forces sent from the capital.

Rasen:

– You summoned me, Lord Jorvan.

Jorvan:

– Rasen, can you defend the castle? Or should we begin evacuation?

Rasen:

– Lord Jorvan, do not underestimate the General's ruthless warriors. The castle will be fully defended. A bunch of fools is not capable of taking this place. As for evacuation — forget it.

Jorvan:

– Why!?

Rasen:

– Because this group of fools came in excessive numbers and we are completely surrounded. If you attempt to flee, your survival chances outside are zero. Here, however, we can protect you.

Jorvan:

– I understand, Rasen. Do everything you can. Win this battle, and I will grant you whatever you desire.

Rasen:

– What I desire is not something you can give me, Lord Jorvan.

Jorvan:

– You want that rebellious woman again — the one who incites the people? I swear I have no idea where she is. Once found, we will execute her.

Rasen:

– No. I will slowly butcher her with my own hands… and enjoy it.

Jorvan:

– Do as you wish, Rasen. Just save our lives.

Rasen:

– (Smirking) As you command, my lord.

Rasen (thinking):

Leona… I will kill you with my own hands. Hide as much as you want.
