Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Powers of the World

In this world, once a person reaches a certain age, if they possess talent, their power awakens through a specific event.

Powers are divided into two categories.

The first category is elemental powers, which are associated with seven elements: Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Spirit, Darkness, and Light. Four of these are commonly encountered elements—Fire, Water, Earth, and Air. The remaining two are extremely rare and are passed down through generations within certain bloodlines: Darkness and Light.

For example, Aeth's father—the previous emperor of the Chaos Empire—possessed the Darkness element. This was an element inherited through their lineage. Through the power of darkness, one could cast dark magic and even annihilate enemies directly. For this reason, Aeth's ancestors named the empire they founded after their power: Chaos. The power they possessed and passed down through generations was, in essence, the embodiment of Chaos itself.

However, power depended on the user's energy. Because of this, Aeth had never been able to inherit this generational power. As the successor of this bloodline, he was considered extremely weak. To awaken such a power required immense energy, harsh training, and a personal, emotionally overwhelming energy surge.

The Goddess of Light, Lisa, as her name suggests, is a Light emissary. Those who possessed this power were the founders of the ancient Claritas Temple of Light. According to legends, they received their powers from angels. Light power is primarily used for protection, healing, and in many cases, offense. However, for offensive use, the individual must undergo warrior training. The goddesses of the Claritas Temple—those who possessed this power—used the angels' power more for protection and healing than for warfare.

Ultimately, among all these elements, the one almost never found is the Spirit element. In this world, there is only one person known to possess it. People are afraid not only to speak about her, but even to mention her name. This individual is said to be stronger than even the Demon Kings. Though not confirmed, rumors claim she has lived for over ten thousand years. She is known as the Queen of Death, Alice.

To awaken the Spirit element, the number of people killed must exceed one million. Like other powers, it awakens after a deeply personal and emotionally intense event. Spirit power allows one to control souls and resurrect enemies killed in battle as one's own army. Since there is only a single known wielder of this power, there is no detailed information about it anywhere.

The second category is auras. Auras are divided into four classes: Warrior, Heroic, Demonic, and Divine auras. While the Warrior aura is not as rare as elemental powers, the other three are considered extremely rare. Every experienced and fearless soldier in the army possesses a Warrior aura. Those with this aura often serve as royal guards or heavily armored warriors. For example, Lukas, the warrior of Lisa, possessed a Warrior aura.

While the people believe Aeth possesses a Heroic aura, Lukas believes that Aeth possesses a Demonic aura. As for the Divine aura, it is nearly nonexistent. At present, Lisa is striving to attain this aura.

While elements grant magical abilities to an individual, an aura amplifies the individual's source of power and refines all of their abilities. Possessing both an aura and an element allows one to fully master that element. According to circulating rumors, the Demon King possesses both a Demonic aura and the Fire element, making him an almost invincible being. This is because possessing two powers simultaneously is generally considered impossible. Ultimately, everything depends on the individual's willpower.

In general terms, whether elemental power or aura, possessing even one is estimated to occur in only one out of ten thousand people. Only the Warrior aura appears once in a thousand individuals. In other words, not everyone in this world has power or an aura—but that does not mean no one can attain them. Even the most common power, the Warrior aura, requires tremendous effort and willpower. Therefore, many people choose to live ordinary lives rather than endure such hardship.

Aeth(thinking):

Even though our lazy friend did not attend classes regularly, at least he was present for the basic lessons. That alone is sufficient to understand the powers of this world. Ultimately, someone who possesses the Chaos element and also acquires a Demonic aura becomes, in essence, a walking atomic bomb. But I do not want to see that cursed weapon in this world either. As for the Spirit element, I have no understanding of it at all. Personally, I find the Darkness element far more dangerous.I think it makes sense to fear an emperor with the Dark element more than a devil with the widespread Fire element. The vast experience within me and this intuition suggest that certain aspects of this world's past differ from what is known. In my own world, I killed countless people and spread terror everywhere, earning the title "Angel of Chaos." Here, they speak of Chaos emperors and Chaos power. It is mentally exhausting. I will have time to focus on this later. For now, the approaching war is what matters.

Fredrin knocks on the door and asks permission to enter..

Aeth:

— Come in, Fred. I was waiting for you.

Fredrin approaches Aeth and bows.

Fredrin:

— Your Majesty, as ordered, I have sent five hundred architects and the thirty thousand newly recruited soldiers to Thalkeria. The force is being led by the old general, Ulric.

Aeth:

— So Ulric agreed to return to the army. Excellent.

Fredrin:

— Ulric once fought shoulder to shoulder with your father. He left the army due to injury. However, he remains an experienced general.

Aeth:

— That is precisely why I sent him there. I have informed him of all the plans. They will not face too many difficulties. Given the shortage of trustworthy individuals, we must rely on the old guard. Fredrin, your brother Ferdinand will not disappoint us, will he?

Fredrin:

— Your Majesty, my brother is more eager than anyone to fight by your side. I will bear responsibility with my head for any mistake he makes!

Aeth:

— Fred, stop putting that head on the line so easily. I will need that head for a long time. My intent is clear!

Fredrin:

— That thought alone is a great honor for me, Your Majesty.

Aeth:

— However, your brother will not be fighting alongside me.

Fredrin:

— My apologies, Your Majesty… I do not understand.
