I find myself eating with a girl who, although extremely beautiful, is here for one reason only: to kill me.
We both enjoyed some hamburgers, but neither of us said anything.
(If I stay like this for too long, she might suspect something. I will have to talk about something.)
That was the only thing I thought about at that moment.
"And do you do this every time you run into a cute guy?" I said in a slightly mocking tone.
"Nope, only with guys I am really interested in," she replied, somewhat serious, but it was clear she was telling the truth.
(Of course, currently all boys or girls who have magical power or a sacred gear.)
I thought as she stared at me.
"You are not very social, are you?" she said with a slightly mocking tone, as if she could almost read my soul completely.
"Well, you are right. It seems you can read people very well," I replied, putting my hand to my head in a slightly embarrassed, though feigned, tone.
"It is not that I am great at reading people. It is just that you are too obvious. Usually, sociable people would ask about my interests or start a natural conversation. But you have been quiet for almost five minutes, and the first thing you think to ask is something really silly."
She said this with an arrogant expression.
"Okay, I admit it. I am not very sociable. I barely have two friends, and the three of us are the most hated kids in school for being considered the Perverted Trio. But I have wanted to change, you know? To be a better person."
I confessed a little to her, and she laughed at what I said.
"Alright, kid. I will help you with your change," she said, stifling her laughter.
"Really?"
"Okay, let us begin now. Give me a compliment on how I look," she said, striking a pose as she took off her jacket.
"Simply beautiful," I blurted out, and she smiled arrogantly.
"You are learning. Now, let us go to places you would not normally go," she said, taking out her wallet, and we both paid our bills.
We went to a nightclub.
Upon arrival, a guard interrupted us.
"Kid, you are too young to be coming in, do you not think?" he said, looking at me. He was practically the definition of a behemoth.
But Kara stood by my side.
"He is coming with me," she said, showing an identity card that, judging by her expression, was probably fake.
The guard nodded and let us through.
Everything was illuminated by lights of different colors, and there was a DJ in the background. People were going crazy, dancing and jumping while holding light sticks.
Then I felt Kara move closer to me, her enormous breasts brushing against my shoulder. The fact that she was taller than me did not help at all.
"Shall we dance?" she asked, and all I could do was nod nervously.
She started doing provocative dances, attracting the attention of many men, while I got more and more nervous until I felt her hold my head.
"Just let yourself go," she whispered in a sensual voice, sending shivers down my spine before she provocatively licked my cheek.
Before I knew it, I started dancing with her. This time, even the women on the dance floor blushed when they saw me move.
We spent hours dancing. I think it was already two in the morning when we left.
"Motohama, I did not know you could attract so much attention," Kara said, remembering the women's blushing looks.
"You did great too. I have never had so much fun in my life," I said, remembering how the men looked at me with envy.
"You know what? The night is still young. What do you think about going somewhere quieter?" I suggested.
She simply looked at me with a small smile.
So we walked to a forest while she laughed.
"What is wrong?" I asked.
"This forest is famous for being visited by couples on dates," she replied with a mischievous smile.
(Damn, now I understand the incomplete memories of the Perverted Trio camping in this forest. They were spying on couples.)
"Well, if you want it so badly and you do not mind being out in the woods," she said, beginning to unbutton her dress. But her magic was growing.
"Wait, this is not what I wanted to show you. What I want is further ahead," I said, as she looked at me curiously.
"Okay, I am curious," she replied, as I let out a sigh of relief.
We walked until we reached a bridge, where the reflection of the moon illuminated the landscape and the cherry trees were dropping their leaves.
"This is beautiful," she said, her face lighting up at the sight.
"I know. I remembered this place and wanted to bring you here."
She did not say anything, but her gaze shifted from bright to sad, then to completely serious, and I knew what would happen next.
"Is something wrong?" I asked her.
"It was splendid. It has really been years since I last liked a human so much."
I stepped back, knowing what would come with those words.
"Motohama, I hope that one day, in the afterlife, you will forgive me," she said, revealing her true form as a fallen angel.
I immediately jumped into the water, knowing that things here were about to get much worse.
Normal narrator
Kalawana watched as the boy jumped into the water, trying to escape.
"It will not work," she said, creating a spear of light and throwing it at him.
She knew it was impossible to dodge that, but suddenly she felt magic underwater.
"That?"
Before she could say anything else, she had to dodge several water sharks heading toward her.
"What the devil?"
That was all she said as she flew higher, seeing the boy standing on the water, staring at her.
"What are you?" she asked, agitated.
"I think I told you I wanted to bring you here," he replied.
Finally, she understood completely. He already knew exactly what she was, and not only that, he already had a plan prepared against her when she made her move.
"You are a magician with a strong affinity for water. Being in this lake, you are in your element," she thought seriously, knowing she could not flee without consequences.
She summoned another spear and prepared for battle. He made the water turbulent.
They exchanged attacks, sharks and columns of water crashing against her spears. Kalawana tried to escape, but he kept her cornered.
From the water came immense swarms that turned into different creatures like sharks, eels, and she even thought she saw a small whale.
For her part, the fallen angel dodged everything. She realized he was a novice. He had a lot of skill, she would not deny it, but he was wasting magic. She knew that was dangerous in a fight.
Finally, she tried to open a portal, but was hit directly by a blast of water.
"Do not get distracted. We have barely begun," Motohama said mockingly.
Kalawana withstood the impact but crashed into a nearby tree. The best thing to do was to get out of his range, since being in his element gave him plenty of room to maneuver.
(This guy took me by surprise.)
The fallen angel thought as she watched the wizard begin to tire. She was truly cornered now, as he would not allow her to use a portal or warn the others.
(If I hit him directly, he will die.)
She flew between the trees, taking advantage of the fact that he was wasting too much magic.
So she watched as his plan came to fruition when he began attacking her with several jets of water.
She dodged the immense creatures by moving between the trees, getting as far away from the lake as possible.
She could see him clearly now. He was standing on a magic seal that allowed him to control the entire lake.
She had never heard of such a thing in her life. Usually, water mages created large amounts of water for themselves.
But instead, he was using a seal to manipulate the lake itself, allowing him that level of maneuverability.
Even so, it was not efficient, and she knew it. She could slowly feel herself growing exhausted.
That was how she saw it.
Motohama was exhausted too, but before she could deliver a killing blow, he dodged her spear and kicked her in the stomach, knocking her unconscious. Beneath the kick was a seal that further enhanced its power, a fact she realized just before losing consciousness.
He had set that trap all along, only pretending to be completely tired in order to deliver the final blow.
"You are good, but I am better," said the protagonist.
The fallen angel landed directly on the magic seal, floating helplessly in the lake.
"And now what am I going to do with you?" the protagonist wondered as he watched the fallen angel drift on the water.
