Chapter 27 - Duka’ao, on the Verge of Tears — Really Wants to Slap His Past Self Twice

Boom!

The sudden situation caught A'Jie completely off guard.

Fortunately, it wasn't an explosion. It was more like a shockwave sweeping past, blasting open the wall on the side of Liu Chuang's hospital bed.

There was no intense heat, nor any secondary destructive force reaching them.

A'Jie stared blankly at what had once been a solid wall, now completely gone.

Through the gaping breach, he could clearly see the scenery on the other side.

Opposite them had originally been a continuous part of the hospital building, but now it was split cleanly in two, as if something had punched straight through, leaving a hollow gap dozens of meters long in between.

That side was pitch-black now.

The hospital staff had already gone off duty—only the doctor tending Liu Chuang remained in this room, along with two nurses in a nearby ward on this side.

A'Jie reacted quickly.

After a moment of shock, he immediately looked at Liu Chuang.

Liu Chuang hadn't been directly hit by the incident… well, not entirely.

Because the hospital bed had been pressed right up against the wall.

The sudden blast shaved off a large patch of Liu Chuang's hair, leaving his scalp bare in the middle, with hair only on both sides—almost like a cross-section of the hospital itself.

But that was nothing serious.

So A'Jie hurriedly called Duka'ao to report the situation at the hospital.

The call didn't go through.

A'Jie immediately grew anxious.

Could the general have been attacked too?

His thoughts instinctively turned to Lin Fei.

Mainly because Lin Fei had left too deep an impression on him—and this was happening inside the Super Academy.

Whenever something big went wrong, his first association was Lin Fei.

Could this really be Lin Fei's doing?

Did he clash with the general?

Meanwhile, at the training ground—

Duka'ao stood there in a daze, staring at the vast empty swath ahead of him, like scenery that had been cleanly parted down the middle.

He felt his phone vibrating nonstop in his pocket.

Taking a deep breath, he finally steadied himself and pulled out his personal phone. Without even checking who was calling, he answered.

"Hello. What is it?"

"General! Are you alright?! The hospital was just attacked! Could it be Lin Fei—"

The moment he heard Lin Fei's name, Duka'ao felt his already-high blood pressure spike again.

"A'Jie, I already know about all of this."

"General, why does your voice sound like it's shaking? Are you hurt?"

"…I'm fine."

Duka'ao let out a long breath, forcing himself to suppress his agitation with the calm he'd cultivated over tens of thousands of years—born from endlessly regretting past mistakes.

Then he spoke again.

"A'Jie, don't worry about the hospital side. I'll handle it."

"I'll contact you again shortly."

With that, Duka'ao ended the call.

His gaze once more fell on the gaping void that cut straight through the Super Academy.

When he'd confirmed that Weiwei was unharmed, and then turned to truly take in this shocking scene—

To be honest, his first reaction had been utter disbelief.

He never imagined that such terrifying destructive power could come from just one punch by Lin Fei.

What was even more inconceivable was Lin Fei's exquisite control over that power—so precise that he could bypass Weiwei completely and release all that force behind her.

But just as Lin Fei and Weiwei were chatting and joking—

Duka'ao suddenly snapped back to reality and realized a very serious problem.

The Super Academy…

Was basically gone.

In an instant, his blood pressure shot through the roof.

"Old Du, what's wrong? You don't look so good."

At that moment, Lin Fei and Weiwei walked over.

Both of them had already removed their armor.

Seeing the strange look on Duka'ao's face, Weiwei asked curiously.

Following his line of sight, she looked toward the massive hollow zone carved out by Lin Fei's punch—an area so tall it nearly reached out of view.

Only then did Weiwei realize the blind spot she hadn't noticed earlier.

Right… this was the Super Academy—their main base.

All future training, education, housing, and logistics for the Super Soldiers were supposed to happen here.

Yet the people hadn't even fully arrived—

And the place had already been punched straight through the middle by Lin Fei.

"Lin Fei, you this…"

"Well… about that."

Even with his thick skin, Lin Fei felt a hint of awkwardness at this point.

Back then, he'd only been focused on venting his extraordinary energy and completely forgot about the consequences.

But he quickly returned to his usual self, casually placing a hand on Weiwei's shoulder.

With a grin, he leaned closer to her and spread his other hand.

"Weiwei, honestly, I didn't want it to turn out like this either."

"But if I was going to let you truly feel my power, I couldn't hold back too much, right?"

Feeling the warmth of his palm on her shoulder—and his closeness—Weiwei's face flushed slightly.

But she didn't shrug him off.

After thinking it over, she nodded in agreement. He wasn't wrong.

"And besides," Lin Fei continued,

"didn't your dad say it himself before we started? He told us to go all out, no need to worry, and that he'd take responsibility for all the losses."

"That's why I dared to use this much power."

Then Lin Fei turned to Duka'ao.

"Even if I wanted to compensate you, or pay damages, you wouldn't let me, right?"

"…Right."

Duka'ao forced a stiff smile.

Thinking back to what he'd said before Lin Fei and Weiwei started fighting, he couldn't help wanting to go back half an hour in time and slap his past self a few times.

Why did you run your mouth like that?

'Go all out, don't worry, I'll take responsibility for everything.'

If he hadn't said that, maybe he could've bargained something out of Lin Fei.

Who knew—maybe with a bit of persuasion, Lin Fei might even have agreed to join the Super Academy.

That way, the losses could've been minimized.

After all, Lin Fei was simply too strong, too mysterious.

But now…

Forget it.

There was nothing left to think about.

He could only swallow this bitter pill whole.

All the suffering had to be endured in silence.

The more he thought about it, the angrier and more aggrieved he felt—so much so that even now, he wanted to slap himself twice.

"Don't make that face," Lin Fei said, stepping away from Weiwei and coming over to Duka'ao's side.

"Even though things turned out like this, I, Lin Fei, still have principles."

"The two conditions you agreed to earlier—let's reduce them to one."

"..."

Duka'ao nearly burst into tears.

Wasn't that basically the same thing?!

Those two conditions had already been squeezed out of him by Lin Fei in the first place.

Weiwei knew it, he knew it—yet Lin Fei still insisted on saying this.

Wasn't this just him agreeing to Lin Fei's demands for free?

Using one condition to cancel out the other—wasn't that the same as getting nothing at all?

Left hand to right hand, the bill was still his to pay.

If there was any silver lining to what Lin Fei had said—

It was that it barely allowed Duka'ao to convince himself that his losses weren't quite as catastrophic.

At least… it served as a bit of psychological comfort.
