Finally Kai could see the gate from a distance it was foggy at first but as he kept on going he could see it clearly, although he was exhausted he kept pushing through he was almost there with one final burst of energy, he surged forward collapsing onto the ground the moment he passed through the gate, he could see others standing on the other side with a man but he did not have much energy left, he needed to catch his breath. Moment later he could hear the footsteps of other cadet approaching, panic surge as he scrambled to claim his spot, he saw a man sitting behind a desk, he went over and stood there.
" Your serial number is 106 out of 1200" he said writing his name and serial number beside together " go stand over there" he added pointing to were Kate stood, without second thought Kai went over " hey Kate, what number did you get" he asked sitting beside her " 003" she answered " really congrats and here I am with 106" Kai said with a sigh" it isn't bad there still like one thousand cadet that are still out there"
" Yeah I guess it isn't bad, getting into trouble with with Zane and always running away finally come in handy"
" Yeah you two always get into trouble" Kate said laughing soon Kai also joined her people around them looked at them like they were crazy
"What's so funny" a girl sitting besides Kai asked, he turned to look at her he hasn't noticed her at first
" Oh didn't notice you there, nice to meet you am Kai by the way and the one beside me is Kate " he said offering his hand for a hand shake
" Nice to meet you Kai and Kate am Emily" she took the hand he offered " so which serial numbers did you get" she added
" I got 003, Kai got 106" Kate answered to her question,
" That's cool I got 036"
" Why am I the one with the lesser number "
Kai said dramatically laying down spreading his arms and legs they both laughed also laying on either side of him,
" Don't beat yourself up, you'll get better eventually " Kate said with an encouraging smile, that what he likes about her she is always positive.
The three just lay there, you could here whisper's from other cadet as they awaited further instructions Kai caught snippet of some conversation about how intense the training was, he had doubt about himself but he pushed it aside, he had Kate and Emily their new addition and together they will navigate this strange world even if just for a while.

The academy was filled with chatters as the last of cadet arrived indicating that they were about to enter into the academy, you could see their faces a mixture of nerves and anticipation.light filtered through the clouds indicating they have been there till dawn, the air was thick with tension. Just then the double doors of the academy open and a hush fell over everyone it was so quiet you could here if someone had dropped a pin.
Standing at the forefront was a middle age man adorned in the white and sky blue of the guardian uniform with an A rank crest on him. He stepped forward along with some other people who seemed to be officials his commanding presence captivating the cadets even before he spoke a word.
" Congratulations to you all" he said his voice clear and resonant " my name is maverick Lawson and the principal of this school, today you embark on a journey that will decide the fate of the world and your future" he added.
" I see lots of potential in you but let's get straight to the point before we get carried away, I would first like the first six cadets to step out" as she said those words six students stepped out five boys and one girl Kate being the girl Kai couldn't help but feel proud of her.
" You will be divided into six division each group will have one of them as your team captain, there would be two hundred students in each team since all one thousand two hundred of you made it what ever team you are will be the one you will remain in for the coming year so I hope you will learn to stick together and help each other out in times of need" ...." Since you six made it I will be giving you the privilege of choosing three people as you team mate starting from 001 to 006" as she said that the first person stepped out choosing three male cadet from the smile on their faces you could tell they are friends, soon it was Kate turn she stepped out " 106 and 036" as she said those words Kai and Emily came forward standing besides her " who do you think I should call next " she asked both Kai and Emily " well I have this friend his really good" Emily suggested" what's his number"
Kate asked "013" Emily replied, having heard that Kate stepped forward again calling out the number Emily suggested.
A tall red haired guy stepped out with a boyish grin on his face he came towards them standing besides Kai.
" Hey am Tyler nice to meet you guys" he said
" Tyler this is Kate and Kai , and this is Tyler"
Emily introduced them to each other
" Nice to meet you Tyler " Kai said offering a hand shake Tyler took it shaking him before doing the same with Kate " nice to meet you too" he said with the same smile on his face.
Soon the rest of the team captains were done, seeing this the principal stepped forward again " now that that is done the rest of you would be appointed under the six units, when that is done you will be appointed to a commander that will guide you for the rest of the semester you are to obey their every word and failure to do so will put you in a very compromising situation, I hope you will all do your best because the hope of the world rest in your hands and I hope that buy the end of your stay in the academy you have learned what will help you in your future endeavors so work had or you might be left behind, I wish you all good luck " having said that he turned to leave with the official's leaving behind a man.
" Okay kids listen up the rest off you will be assigned to a unit among the six I will call your number and the Unit you are to join" saying that he took a clipboard and start calling out numbers.
