KAI POV
It's been two years since then nothing much has changed Kate is still as annoying as ever except the only thing is that am here urging Kate to hurry cause if she doesn't were gonna be fucking late, am starting to think she's carrying along her hole room.
" Kate come on were already running late"
" Hold on am almost done" she replied stuffing the rest of her clothes into her bag with Mrs Wilson help
" Come meet me in the carriage" I carried my bag going down the stairs all the way to the carriage I spot mr Wilson standing beside the carriage, I went over to him
" Hey kiddo you excited"
" As if anyone would be excited walking straight to their death "
"Your gonna be just fine kid "
" As if ,I have been an E rank guardian since I can remember I don't even know my element"
"You will be just fine I am sure of it beside you have Zane and Kate with you"
" Am just gonna be a burden to them'
'no your not I believe in you "
" Thanks mr Wilson"
" I told you to call me dad "
" Yes dad "
" That's much better "
Just then Katy came pulling her bag along with Mrs Wilson behind ,we all entered the carriage and headed for the train station.
Upon our arrival I could see many students greeting their families goodbye,
" Well this is it "Mrs Wilson said wiping fake tears away
" Come on mum could you at least pretend you're gonna miss us "Kate asked crossing her arms across her chest
" You not so much, am only going to miss Kai" she replied
" And you say you don't have favorite's "
" I do and it's Kai "
" Okay stop arguing the kids are going to miss their train " mr Wilson interjected and just on cue the whistle was heard urging students to board the train.
" Good bye mom and dad wish us luck" Kate said hugging the both of them
" Bye Mr and mrs- "
"It's mum and dad" Mrs Wilson interrupted me
" Okay bye mom and dad" I corrected hugging the both of them
" Bye kids have a safe trip and come back alive" Mrs Wilson stated
" Okay mom" Katy replied turning to grab her bag " come on twin let's get going " she added taking my hand with her other free hand dragging me along with her towards the train I turned back one last time waving the Wilsons good bye before boarding the train.
Third person POV
Upon entering the train there were many cadets sitting on both sides,Kai and Kate took a seat Kai taking the seat by the window and Kate right beside him, just as they settled down a man wearing guardian uniform came in on his jacket was a b rank guardian crest
" Hey kids listen up I want you all settled down" he shouted putting his hands behind him
" Am a b rank guardian and I will be your guide to the academy my name is Wiggins and I expect you're full cooperation or you could very well choose going to the mines am sure they would appreciate extra help, you wouldn't want that would you "he added with a smile that sends shivers down their spine
" No sir" all cadets replied in unison
" Good so now rest well cause this is the only rest u will get in three years" he added heading to the front of the train, Kai looked around and could see how anxious some of them were while others were already closing their eyes planning on sleeping he turned his head to see Kate already closing her eyes and putting her head on his shoulder, seeing this he also put his head on her head closing his eyes ready to sleep.
They were all awakened by the sound of a whistle, the instructor stood at the middle looking them over " wake up kids your good times are over, I want you all to strap your bags around yourself or put them on your head I don't honestly care but I want you and bags together, your running the rest of the way" he shouted his voice loud enough for everyone to hear.
Kai look out the window noticing the train has come to a stop, the places they were was deserted not a single sign of life even the empty land were dry like something had burned them a clear testament of war " oh come on" he heard Kate groan beside him jolting him back to clarity he simply looked at her trying to strap her bags around herself, he stood up and helped her having done that he picked up his much lighter ones and put them around himself before they both followed the cadets out the train.
When the last of them were out the instructor stood in front" since everyone is out let me say this again your all to run to the academy on your feet , the academy is straight ahead , you will be given serial numbers according to when you arrive at the academy those who don't make it will be assigned cleaning duty for a year" he stopped letting the word sink in " best of luck " he added going back to the train as it headed towards the academy leaving them alone in the chilling evening sky, they knew they had to leave and be in the safe walls of the academy before sunset, that's when night creatures hunt their prey, without a second thought Kate grabbed Kai's hand taking off towards the academy, with a sudden rush of adrenaline with pure instinct on survival, even if it was just for an additional day Kai bolted running alongside her from the danger lurking no far away from them.
With fiery lungs and and bursting hot breaths Kai ran sweat pouring from every spore on his body , legs numb from exhaustion but sheer willpower has long taken over, they were instructed to run from the stopping point to the academy as if it were only a couple miles away but here they were going endlessly towards a mountain climbing as if their lives depends on it, well it technically did because if by night fall they haven't made it they will be eaten by the creatures of the night.
A couple steps in and there still wasn't any sign of the gate, cadets around them were dropping like flies some even fainting , yet here Kai was thinking he would have been the first to drop, he could have sworn he had no stamina left yet somehow he still kept moving, a mystery for another time because all he could think about right now was when the fuck this was gonna end.
