Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 The Elder's Gift

Only after the old man's figure completely disappeared did Xiu Ran withdraw his gaze and look at the item in his hand.

The old man hadn't given him the physical item directly, but had placed it in a storage ring.

Xiu Ran only needed to use his soul power to probe the ring to discover that the space inside was exceptionally large. A space ring of this level would cost at least ten million Federal Credits, making it extremely precious.

This was already a rare treasure, but after probing what was inside, Xiu Ran's eyes were slightly shocked.

Inside was a wristband, a defensive soul tool, but its exquisite craftsmanship and the power it contained were abundant.

Defensive soul tools are much more precious and rarer than offensive soul tools, and although Xiu Ran had never used one before, he could sense that if the power contained within this soul tool were used for defense, even an ordinary four-ring Soul Master would find it difficult to break through in a short time.

Besides this defensive soul tool, there was also a check for ten million Federal Credits. Of course, this was the least valuable item compared to the previous two.

Looking at these items, Xiu Ran suddenly looked up in the direction the clan elder had left, and for some reason, his heart tightened.

These items could completely solve the problems Xiu Ran was currently facing. He wouldn't have to worry about money anymore, and he could continue to acquire more soul spirits, absorb them, and see if he could restore his soul rings.

Thinking about this, Xiu Ran heard the bell ring for class and quickly ran towards the classroom.

However, before he even reached the classroom, Ye Yingluo blocked his way at the door.

  "Teacher Ye,"

Ye Yingluo nodded, looked Xiu Ran over, and then said, "You've been acting strangely lately. Is something wrong?"

In her memory, although Xiu Ran's martial soul quality wasn't high, he had always been very hardworking, and his soul power improvement was relatively fast in the class. He never spaced out in class, but recently this had been happening frequently, which inevitably worried Ye Yingluo.

She had always paid close attention to Xiu Ran as a student; she had heard that his family situation was complicated, and although his financial situation wasn't good, he had always been very sensible, so she liked him and naturally paid more attention to him.

Xiu Ran glanced at Ye Yingluo, then, without further worry, simply told her about his soul ring situation.

After listening to Xiu Ran's explanation, Ye Yingluo's brows furrowed deeply. Soul rings disappearing—this was unprecedented.

Even in her many years of teaching, she had never heard of such a thing.

"You go to class first, I'll go ask around for you," Ye Yingluo said hurriedly after instructing Xiu Ran.

Seeing how busy Ye Yingluo was with him, Xiu Ran was deeply moved. It felt good to have someone care about him; it was far better than dealing with his family.

Before the class was even over, Ye Yingluo rushed back, even calling Xiu Ran out from the classroom.

She wasn't the only one there; behind her was a man, over 1.9 meters tall, with long, slender legs clad in white trousers. He appeared somewhat thin, but his eyes were bright and piercing. He had a high nose bridge and thin, well-proportioned lips, giving him an exceptionally imposing presence. His long hair cascaded down his back, and in the wind, one could vaguely see that his lake-blue hair reached his waist.

His eyes were dark green, which, combined with his blue hair, gave him a strange air. He stood expressionless behind Ye Yingluo, his gaze icy.      It turned out that Ye Yingluo had gone directly to the Dean of Students, Long Hengxu, and explained the situation.

The Dean of Students was completely unaware of the situation and could only tell Ye Yingluo to go find Wu Changkong.

Although young, Wu Changkong was a top student from Shrek Academy, even from the inner academy, and a Soul Saint. His mastery of Soul Master knowledge was certainly superior to theirs.

Fortunately, although Wu Changkong was usually cold and aloof, he didn't ignore his student's situation and immediately went with Ye Yingluo to find out what was going on.

Ye Yingluo pulled Xiu Ran in front of Wu Changkong and introduced him, "This is my student, Xiu Ran. He's the one who's in trouble."

"Xiu Ran?" Upon hearing the name, Wu Changkong subconsciously repeated it, a slight change appearing in his usually cold and unchanging eyes.

"What's wrong, Teacher Wu?" Ye Yingluo asked, somewhat puzzled.

Wu Changkong shook his head, placing a hand directly on Xiu Ran's shoulder, and a blue halo immediately shone there.

Xiu Ran felt a cool sensation instantly spread from his shoulder throughout his body. Although it was refreshing, it didn't have any real effect.

Wu Changkong frowned, and after a long while, he finally released his hand from Xiu Ran's shoulder.

After checking him, Wu Changkong fell into thought and didn't say anything for a while.

Naturally, Ye Yingluo and Xiu Ran didn't disturb him, and the scene became quiet.

"After absorbing the soul spirit, have you noticed any changes in your body?" Wu Changkong asked expressionlessly, but there was a hint of thought in his eyes.

"I just feel that my soul power and spiritual power have indeed increased," Xiu Ran answered truthfully, without any concealment.

Wu Changkong pondered for a while, then looked at Ye Yingluo and said, "His body may not be very compatible with the soul spirit."

  "Not very compatible?!"

Not only Xiu Ran, but even Ye Yingluo was surprised. After all, in their understanding, it was a matter of course for Soul Masters to absorb soul spirits, and it was something that Soul Masters had to do. They had never heard of any Soul Master who couldn't absorb soul spirits.

Wu Changkong explained, "Originally, Soul Masters obtained Soul Rings by killing Soul Beasts. This primitive method is quite dangerous due to the resentment of the dead Soul Beasts. However, this method can also provide a certain degree of Soul Power boost while giving Soul Rings to Soul Masters. Soul Spirits, on the other hand, are simpler and safer, naturally requiring less Soul Power. His current situation is likely that artificial Soul Spirits are insufficient to support him in forming Soul Rings. It's possible that his body doesn't accept artificial Soul Spirits; although it absorbs them, it won't form a Soul Ring."

After listening to Wu Changkong's explanation, Ye Yingluo thought for a moment and said in a deep voice, "In other words, artificial Soul Spirits won't work." Wu

Changkong nodded slightly and then said, "But it's not impossible. Perhaps we can try Soul Beasts."
