Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 Ancient Moon

  East Sea Spirit Pagoda.

In many parts of East Sea City, even some remote corners, this Spirit Pagoda is clearly visible. It stands over a hundred stories tall, exceeding four hundred meters, a landmark even amidst the towering buildings of East Sea City.

The base of the Spirit Pagoda is octagonal, occupying a vast area. Every ten stories, it narrows inwards until reaching the spire.

Even from its exterior, one can feel its immense grandeur.

After all, the East Sea Spirit Pagoda is one of the eighteen branch pagodas of the Spirit Pagoda Organization, and these eighteen large Spirit Pagodas are exaggeratedly called the Eighteen Heavenly Pillars.

The Spirit Pagoda Organization has a history of ten thousand years. Due to their importance to Soul Masters and their epoch-making research into artificial Soul Spirits, their status has risen dramatically, spreading across three continents and becoming one of the most powerful forces.

This wasn't Xiu Ran's first time here, but even here, he was still amazed by the Spirit Pagoda's imposing presence.

Even the first floor of the Spirit Pagoda... The reception area was decorated in a magnificent, opulent style. The floor was paved with dark gold stone, displaying dazzling natural patterns. Massive stone pillars supported a dome tens of meters high, and even more breathtaking were the pillars and the exquisite, colorful murals on the dome.

These murals, resplendent in gold, depicted landscapes and figures, seemingly telling a story.

Xiu Ran knew very well that this was the story of Huo Yuhao, but he was somewhat puzzled as to not see the figure of Tang Wutong, Huo Yuhao's wife with the pinkish-blue hair, who should have been beside him, in the murals.

After all, an organization as large as the Spirit Pagoda wouldn't make such a mistake, but Xiu Ran didn't dwell on it. The events of ten thousand years ago were irrelevant to him; his current goal was the soul.

Although Xiu Ran had bought a soul spirit once before, it had been several years, and fearing the location might have changed and he might go to the wrong floor, he still went to ask.

This was easy; the Spirit Pagoda was similar to a hospital, with a counter-like area at the front and a Spirit Pagoda master in a gray robe sitting behind it, responsible for answering questions. After all, the Spirit Pagoda was huge, and it was easy for someone who wasn't a staff member to get lost.

After asking for the specific floor, Xiu Ran went to take the soul-guided elevator. It was on the fifty-first floor; climbing up would probably be exhausting.

Donghai City was a large city, so naturally, there were many soul masters, and quite a few people came to the Spirit Pagoda. After waiting a short while, he finally got on.

However, the soul-guided elevator stopped halfway up, at the twenty-fifth floor. Clearly, someone else was getting on, which Xiu Ran wasn't surprised about. After all, everyone on the previous twenty-five floors had gotten off; given the Spirit Pagoda's high volume of visitors, it was normal for people to get on.

But when he clearly saw who had gotten on, his eyes widened in shock for a moment.

A girl entered, not particularly beautiful, but rather pretty. She had long black hair, black eyes, and a figure that was above average for her age, very well-proportioned, with large, bright eyes. She wore simple black casual clothes, but possessed a very special aura.

However, these weren't the reasons for Xiu Ran's surprise. The real reason was her face. Although he wasn't very familiar with it, he had seen it before and knew everything about her.

This was Gu Yuena from Class Zero. Xiu Ran had seen her at the Spirit Ascension Platform during the riot period; she was the one who eliminated Xu Xiaoyu. But only he knew her true identity: the Silver Dragon King!

As Gu Yuena pressed the elevator button, the elevator began to ascend.

The Spirit Tower's elevators were naturally the highest standard on the market, fast and stable, but now Xiu Ran felt they were incredibly slow.

For some reason, upon seeing her, his heart suddenly pounded—a frantic, slightly painful pounding that made his breathing unsteady.

Perhaps it was because of the other party's status—after all, given the existence of the Silver Dragon King Gu Yuena, his current strength was no different from that of an ant.

It seemed the unstable aura caught the attention of the mentally powerful Gu Yuena, who suddenly glanced back at Xiu Ran beside her.

At that moment, Xiu Ran also inadvertently glanced at her, and their eyes met.

  "Hmm!"

Almost simultaneously, both of them clutched their heads and took a step back. Xiu Ran's eyes were momentarily filled with a purple light.

It came quickly and went quickly; the next instant, his vision cleared, though his head felt heavy, an indescribable sensation.

Gu Yuena's eyes revealed a hint of confusion. She glanced at Xiu Ran, composed herself, and then noticed the open stairwell door, stepping out first.

Xiu Ran, left in the elevator, also regained his ability to think. The situation had been somewhat sudden; he hadn't quite grasped it.

Was it Gu Yuena's deliberate test?

Obviously not, since he clearly saw that the other party was also affected, but now, apart from that purple light, nothing else had happened.

Without time to think further, he quickly arrived at the fifty-first floor. Seeing that he was unharmed, Xiu Ran went straight in.

This floor was specifically for selecting soul spirits, filled with modern features, with all sorts of advanced instruments on display.

The first step in selecting a soul spirit was testing mental strength; the strength of one's mental strength determined what level of soul spirit one could fuse with.

After paying the fee for the mental strength test, Xiu Ran sat down in a chair, and a staff member helped him put on a metal helmet-like device.

The mental strength test was quick; the results came out in no time.

  "One hundred and fifty-five!"

The staff at the Spirit Pagoda gasped. This number was terrifying for a child around ten years old.

Not to mention Donghai City, even on the entire continent, there were very few soul masters who could reach this level of mental strength at that age.

Originally, the staff hadn't paid much attention to Xiu Ran's thin and worn clothes, but now they were genuinely concerned.

Reaching the mid-stage of the Spirit Origin Realm, fusing with a hundred-year-old yellow soul spirit is no problem. With Xiu Ran's spiritual power, fusing with any hundred-year-old soul spirit is perfectly feasible.

The staff quickly displayed all the soul spirits available in Donghai City on a large screen. The Donghai Spirit Transmission Tower is a large place, so there are no defective items, nor is there a method of extracting soul spirits like Tang Wulin's. Therefore, Xiu Ran has to choose and purchase them himself.
