The highest ever recorded awakenings were S-Rank abilities throughout the entire Swan Starfield. No one has ever directly awaken a Gamma-Rank ability let alone a Alpha- Rank ability.
However these mysterious abilities are capable of evolving, to this day no one has found out how this evolution occurs but it is certain that some specific conditions must be met for the evolution. The problem is that these condition vary from ability to ability and awakeners are unable to determine what they are.But when an awakener met these hidden conditions his ability evolves, progresses higher in rank and becomes more powerful.
Only the Heads of the Houses of Leon,Pyrren,Draco,Silith and Fenrir are the ones that have been able to evolve their S-Rank abilities to Gamma-Rank. Lets take Head of House Pyrren: David Pyrren as an example, about few decades ago during War of Swan & Dwar Starfields , he was ambushed by 6 S-Rank Awakened, at that time after fighting a gruesome battle and finding no hope,he decided to explode himself, taking all his enemies alongside him.But when he did that instead of him dying his S-Rank Solar Flare ability evolved and became Gamma-Rank ability Supernova.
Similarly others evolved their abilities in similar fashion Finnair Leon from House Leon evolved his S-Rank ability Teleportation to Gamma-Rank ability Steller Teleportation, Ciri Dethron from House Draco evolved her S-Rank ability Dragon to Gamma-Rank ability True Dragon, Ashborn Silith evolved his S-Rank ability Master of Dead to Gamma-Rank ability Lord of Death and Regina Fenrir evolved her S-Rank ability Mother of Wild to Gamma-Rank ability Cosmic Wild.
Every evolution required different conditions but it was apparent that abilities can evolve,becoming stronger, powerful and dangerous. While a S-ranked ability can affect a Planet ,a Gamma-Ranked ability can affect a Planetary System. That's the difference between Ranks which increases exponentially as one goes higher.
And this can be seen from the feats of all the Heads of Houses, David Pyrren blasted a complete planetary system to space debris, Finnair Leon shifted a whole Planet from a planetary system to another part of space destroying the planetary system,Ciri Dethron transformed into a massive Black Dragon whose size was even bigger than a planet, obliterating planets with her claws and destroying a planetary systems with her Dragon Breath, Ashborn Silith awakened a army of dead numbering billions, conquering entire planetary systems, Regina Fenrir created Cosmic Trees taking roots in space encroaching planets, draining them of life.
