Gilgamesh focused a portion of his power into his free left hand.
Immediately, a crimson aura spread across his palm.
The air distorted slightly as a small magic circle appeared above his skin, glowing faintly with ancient symbols.
Without hesitation, he pressed his palm against Kalawarner's chest.
The fallen angel's yellow eyes widened wildly.
Panic overtook her expression.
She knew exactly what that hand represented.
Death.
Her body trembled violently as she struggled with everything she had. Her wings fluttered desperately, her hands clawing at Gilgamesh's arm as she tried to push him away.
But it was useless.
Gilgamesh's strength completely overwhelmed her.
To him, her resistance felt no heavier than a child's.
Her chest heaved rapidly with fear.
To her—
Gilgamesh's hand felt like the blade of a reaper slowly descending.
And then—
Flames appeared.
Crimson fire erupted from his palm.
"GAAAH! GYAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!"
Kalawarner's screams shattered the air.
They were not ordinary cries of pain.
They were shrieks filled with despair so deep that anyone listening would feel their spine freeze.
Her body convulsed violently.
Her hands desperately tried to push his burning hand away as the flames devoured her flesh.
The pain overwhelmed her mind completely.
She couldn't even summon a light spear in retaliation.
All her thoughts had collapsed into two things.
Pain.
And fear.
Beside her—
Mil-telt's legs gave out.
She collapsed to her knees.
Her face turned pale as terror consumed her.
The elegant scent that once surrounded her had been replaced by the foul smell of urine.
She watched helplessly.
Watched Kalawarner burn.
Watched her struggle.
Watched her scream.
Then—
Within seconds—
The crimson flames of purgatory consumed the fallen angel completely.
Her body disintegrated.
Not even ashes remained.
"HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!"
Mil-telt let out a piercing scream.
Gilgamesh slowly turned his gaze toward her.
Her body trembled uncontrollably.
Her blue eyes contained nothing but terror.
Her mind had already begun breaking under the pressure.
"P-please!"
Her voice cracked.
"I'll do anything! Anything! Spare me! Please! I don't want to die!"
Her words repeated like a broken recording.
Begging.
Crying.
Desperately clinging to hope.
Gilgamesh ignored it.
He stepped forward calmly.
Mil-telt tried to crawl away, her body dragging across the ground in a desperate attempt to escape.
But it was pointless.
Time slowed around Gilgamesh.
He stepped forward.
And appeared directly above her.
Her small body was trapped between his legs as he stood over her.
Mil-telt slowly turned her face upward.
Her movements were stiff.
Mechanical.
Tears streamed endlessly down her cheeks.
"Please… I beg you… I don't want to die…"
Gilgamesh looked down at her quietly.
"Don't worry."
His voice was calm.
"I'll make it painless."
Her despair deepened instantly.
At that moment—
Mil-telt regretted everything.
Following Raynare's plan.
Leaving the safety of Grigori.
Believing promises of promotion and a better life.
Raynare's plan had seemed too perfect.
But she had believed it.
And now—
She realized the truth.
They had awakened something they never should have touched.
A sleeping dragon.
No—
A celestial dragon.
In the end, Mil-telt could only accept her fate.
She looked up at the terrifying Red Dragon Emperor standing before her.
Gilgamesh placed his hand gently on her head.
She blinked in surprise.
Then—
Cold spread instantly across her body.
When Gilgamesh removed his hand, Mil-telt's body was completely encased inside a massive block of ice.
Frozen.
Unable to feel anything.
Painless.
Gilgamesh snapped his fingers.
The ice shattered.
And Mil-telt disappeared completely.
Erased.
"Those bastards… they couldn't kill him…"
The curse pulled Gilgamesh out of his thoughts.
He turned.
Raynare stood there.
Her body was covered in blood.
Her legs trembled violently.
Her skin had turned pale and sweat drenched her clothes.
She could barely remain standing.
But that wasn't what caught Gilgamesh's attention.
The person she was holding did.
A young girl with long blonde hair trembled in Raynare's grasp.
She wore nothing but a sleeveless white shirt that reached her knees.
Her emerald eyes were filled with fear.
This girl—
Was the excommunicated nun.
Asia Argento.
A small girl.
Only 155 centimeters tall.
Her golden hair flowed down her back with soft bangs across her forehead.
Her emerald eyes sparkled with innocence despite the fear within them.
Once, she had worn the traditional attire of a nun.
A dark habit with light blue accents.
A veil.
Brown boots.
A silver cross necklace.
Now she stood there trembling.
Helpless.
"Ha!"
Raynare laughed cruelly.
"That was your last chance, boy!"
Her hand glowed brightly with holy light.
She pressed it close to Asia's neck.
"Don't move!"
Her voice turned shrill.
"If you move… I kill the girl!"
Gilgamesh grimaced.
His teeth clenched slightly.
Raynare saw it.
Her twisted smile returned.
"You ruined everything!"
Her voice filled with fury.
"You destroyed my entire plan!"
"My plan for Azazel-sama!"
Her eyes burned with madness.
"You destroyed my chance to be loved by him!"
Gilgamesh said nothing.
Raynare continued screaming.
"I followed Kokabiel's orders even though I knew something was wrong!"
"But if I succeeded…"
Her voice trembled.
"Azazel-sama would notice me! He would love me! He would praise me!"
Her expression twisted into madness.
"And then YOU appeared!"
Her voice filled with venom.
"You destroyed everything!"
"You even made my fellow fallen angels betray me!"
"I am Raynare of Grigori!"
"And worst of all—"
She glared at him with burning envy.
"You're only human!"
"But you have this much power!"
"How?!"
"You cursed creature! Humans commit worse sins than we do!"
"And yet YOU have this power!"
Gilgamesh understood.
Envy.
Pure envy had consumed her.
"I'll kill her!"
Raynare screamed.
She yanked Asia's hair violently.
Asia cried out in pain.
"Even if you kill me, I'll kill her first!"
"You'll taste despair!"
"Just like I did!"
"For the sake of Azazel-sama!"
Her face twisted into pure madness.
Gilgamesh remained silent.
Then he looked at Asia.
"Asia Argento."
He spoke in English.
"You understand me?"
The girl nodded weakly.
"Don't worry."
Gilgamesh smiled faintly.
"I'll save you."
Something inside Asia stirred.
She didn't know why.
But she trusted him.
"I believe you," she whispered.
Raynare's smile cracked.
Hatred flooded her eyes.
"How dare you!"
"Watch her die, human!"
Light gathered in her hand.
And then—
SQUELCH.
Raynare looked down.
A sword had pierced through her chest.
Beside Gilgamesh, a golden portal shimmered.
A weapon had emerged from the Gate of Babylon.
Before she could react—
Gilgamesh appeared in front of her.
His kick sent her flying backward.
He caught Asia gently in his arms.
"Close your eyes."
His voice was calm.
"I'll handle this."
Asia obeyed immediately.
Gilgamesh walked toward Raynare.
She crawled desperately across the ground.
He grabbed her by the neck.
And lifted her effortlessly.
His crimson eyes burned with rage.
"You dared harm someone I intend to protect."
His grip tightened.
"Know this."
"I will kill anyone who tries to touch my friends."
His hand ignited.
Flames erupted again.
Purgatory fire consumed Raynare completely.
Her body.
Her soul.
Everything vanished.
"Hero-san?"
Gilgamesh turned.
Asia looked at him with wide emerald eyes.
Concern filled her expression.
"Are you okay?"
Gilgamesh blinked.
"That was my line."
He smiled.
"Are you okay?"
"I-I'm fine!"
She stuttered.
"Hero-san saved me!"
Gilgamesh laughed softly.
"Good."
He opened a golden portal.
And pulled out a red cloak.
"Wear this."
Asia stared at the cloak.
Then she looked down.
Realization struck.
"EEP!"
Her face turned bright red.
She wrapped the cloak around herself immediately.
Gilgamesh chuckled.
Then—
He lifted her into his arms in a bridal carry.
"EEP!"
Asia squeaked again.
Her face turned completely red.
"H-Hero-san! T-this is—!"
"Don't protest, princess."
Gilgamesh grinned.
"In every story, the hero saves the princess like this."
Asia blinked.
She tilted her head.
"Really?"
"Yes."
Gilgamesh nodded confidently.
"O-Okay…"
She stuttered.
"If Hero-san says so… I believe you."
Her embarrassed expression nearly caused Gilgamesh to collapse from the sheer cuteness.
"Where are we going?" Asia asked softly.
Gilgamesh smiled.
"To your new family."
And with that—
The hero left the ruined church.
The maiden had been saved.
Not by a mere hero.
But by their King.
