Chapter 17 - Transmigrator and Theocracy

"I know you're from Earth. I also understand that everything you're doing is just to survive. But I'm warning you—don't change the storyline any further. You know very well what kind of consequences that will bring. If you insist on continuing, I will take action against you."

Elian smiled as he read the letter. In truth, he had long suspected that there might be another transmigrator like himself, but until now, he had never found any trace of one. This letter confirmed it—he wasn't alone.

Even so, uneasiness lingered in his chest. That person could very well become a threat. Elian understood his current position clearly: he stood under the light, while the other hid in the shadows. It was an unfavorable situation. He needed to uncover the identity of the other transmigrator as soon as possible.

Since you've already revealed your existence, of course I have to find you.Elian's eyes glinted coldly. And if necessary… I'll kill you.

Elian needed to obtain several valuable items from other key characters for his own plans. Because of that, standing on the same side as the sender of this letter was impossible. Besides, he had already gone too far down the path of chaos. Peace was never an option.

He immediately left the room and looked for the dormitory supervisor. Without wasting time, he asked whether anyone had entered his room. When he didn't receive a satisfying answer, he simply requested that his ransacked room be cleaned up.

After that, Elian headed to the first-year classroom building. From outside the windows, he checked each student's status one by one—from Class F to Class S—then continued to Classes Two through Four. Classes Five and Six were mostly out in field practice and only returned at specific times.

Even after a full day of investigation, he found no one like himself.

That night, he returned to the dormitory and waited until it was late. Once everyone had fallen asleep, Elian resumed his investigation through dreams. As soon as he closed his eyes, he could sense the soul waves of everyone in the building and began entering their dreams one by one.

Days passed with no results, but the number of people left to investigate continued to shrink.

That morning, Elian planned to resume his normal routine—but something unexpected happened. The classroom suddenly filled with golden dust drifting through the air. Some of it clung to the students' bodies.

What shocked him was that none of it stuck to him.

"Damn the Theocracy," Elian muttered.

Moments later, several figures in armor entered the room. Their gazes swept across the area before stopping on Elian.

"You. Come with us," one of them said, pointing at Elian with undisguised hostility.

Elian immediately opened the status panels of the people in front of him.

Name: AdamSequence: ???

Name: EricSequence: ???

Name: IvanSequence: ???

All three had kind personalities and mostly ordinary traits—except for one thing. They were fanatically devoted to their god and deeply racist toward demons and their followers. As for their strength, Elian couldn't see it at all; they were far above his level.

"Who are you, and what right do you have to order me around?" Elian replied arrogantly.

One of them moved forward angrily, but the teacher stepped in to block him.

"Please excuse me, but you're interrupting class. If you have any documents or official authorization—"

The teacher didn't get to finish his sentence before collapsing to the floor.

Behind them, one of the armored men extended his hand, forming a magic circle. When his eyes met Elian's, he stiffened slightly.

"Adam, this kid isn't affected by my spell."

Adam nodded and walked toward Elian. "Behave yourself and come with us."

His hand clamped down on Elian's shoulder.

Elian glanced around. The other students stared in silence, no one daring to interfere. A flicker of sadness crossed his eyes as he looked at his classmates.

In an instant, Elian wrapped his body in a magical barrier. His right hand formed a water magic circle, releasing a violent torrent, while his left hand summoned a lightning circle crackling with insane intensity.

Water flooded the room. Several students convulsed as lightning surged through the water, while others hastily erected barriers—only for them to shatter when they lost focus.

In just one second, the water rose to waist height. Elian lifted into the air, distancing himself from the three men.

Suddenly, the water froze solid, and a blinding light filled the classroom.

"Oh… one mage, one healer," Elian muttered, quickly understanding their formation.

Adam shattered the ice around his partially frozen body with a single movement. The two behind him remained completely unharmed, protective barriers enveloping them.

"You didn't even hesitate to hurt your own classmates. You really are a demon," Adam said angrily.

Elian smiled. "Hurt them? I haven't even learned ice magic yet. You're the ones who froze them for no clear reason."

Adam leapt toward Elian. His speed was overwhelming—Elian couldn't react and was caught instantly.

Elian hastily formed a lightning circle in his hand, preparing to unleash it wildly.

"I'm warning you—stop. If you don't, I'll crush your hand," Adam said coldly.

Elian sneered. "Go ahead."

He forcibly injected magic into his body—

Crack.

The sound of shattering bones echoed through the room.

"Argh—!"

Elian screamed as agony tore through him. His arm was crushed beyond recognition.

"If you'd just cooperated, we wouldn't have had to go this far," the mage behind Adam said calmly.

At that moment, an overwhelming killing intent flooded the room. A figure stepped inside, her expression filled with fury.

"What's going on here?" Seraphina asked, her voice heavy with pressure.

"We're here to capture the demon responsible for the chaos a few days ago," Adam replied without hesitation.

Seraphina scanned the room, her gaze stopping on Elian.

"Don't misunderstand. This is all his doing, and we need to take him with us," the mage added.

"Release him. Leave," Seraphina said flatly.

"You should already know why we're here," Adam said, staring directly at her.

"Heh." Seraphina laughed softly. "If you kill him, I'll kill you," she said lightly—yet lethally.

Tension filled the air. Elian clenched his teeth, enduring the pain.

After a long silence, Adam released Elian's arm and turned away.

"It's been a long time. You've changed, Sera—no, should I call you… Red Orchid?"

The three of them left the room.

"Senior, who is Red Orchid to make even the captain back down?" a healer in their team asked.

"Oh, Red Orchid was our comrade back in the demon world," the mage replied.

"Oh? Does that mean she killed countless demons?"

The mage laughed. "No. The 'red' comes from the blood of her own comrades—those who died because of her actions. That's why she's called Red Orchid."

Elian realized they were deliberately speaking loudly so Seraphina could hear.

He looked at her clenched fists.

Her nails dug deep into her flesh, blood slowly seeping out.
