Chapter 5 - 5. The Surgery Everyone Tried to Stop

Keshav ignored Tina completely and said firmly,

"If the patient is not beyond saving, then what exactly are we waiting for? Prepare for surgery. Now."

Without paying any attention to Tina's protest, he turned around and started giving instructions to prepare the operation theatre.

Tina was shocked.

"Dr. Keshav, how can you take such a hasty decision just like this foolish girl?" she said angrily.

"Going ahead with the operation means we have less than ten percent chance of success. Taking such a huge risk is pure stupidity. And if something goes wrong, the hospital will not be able to handle the consequences."

She never expected Dr. Keshav to speak this way.

Even after hearing her words, Keshav's expression did not change. In a calm and cold voice, he said,

"If anything happens, you don't need to worry about it."

"Dr. Keshav—" Tina was about to say something when Raghav stopped her in between.

"I will take full responsibility."

Hearing this, all the doctors looked at Keshav in shock.

Everyone had the same thought—

Is Dr. Keshav really ready to perform surgery with a girl as young as Nidhi?

Keshav did not bother explaining anything.

He looked straight at Nidhi and said,

"Come with me."

Saying that, he walked toward the operation room, and Nidhi followed him.

As Nidhi passed by Tina, she glanced at her and said with a faint smirk,

"Don't forget what you said."

"What? What did I say?" Tina asked nervously.

Then suddenly, she remembered—

She had said that if Nidhi managed to save Mahendra Malhotra, she would kneel down, apologize, and call her a goddess.

Seeing Tina's reaction, a confident smile appeared on Nidhi's face.

She said calmly,

"You will call me a goddess… but I don't need a devotee like you. Just kneeling down and apologizing will be enough."

After saying that, Nidhi walked away with Keshav.

But her words crushed Tina's ego completely.

"If you save Mahendra Malhotra," Tina shouted angrily,

"I will resign from my post as Deputy Director!"

Pointing at her badge, she added,

"Let's see how much ability you actually have."

While walking ahead, Keshav had heard Tina's words.

He calmly asked Nidhi,

"Why did you start arguing with her?"

"Because she's arrogant," Nidhi replied.

Keshav said nothing after that.

Soon, two nurses wheeled Mahendra Malhotra into the operation room.

The doctors outside were visibly scared.

"His condition is extremely serious. Surgery shouldn't be performed," one nurse whispered.

"I think Dr. Keshav is too young. He doesn't understand what will happen if the surgery fails… or if Mahendra Malhotra dies."

Another nurse added in fear,

"If anything goes wrong, all our lives will be in danger."

"Dr. Ram, are we really going to let this happen?" one of the doctors asked anxiously.

"Are we not going to stop this? We cannot put a patient's life at such risk. How can we gamble with the life of someone as powerful as Mahendra Malhotra? Dr. Ram, you have to do something. You must stop this."

The doctors gathered around Dr. Ram, speaking all at once, fear clearly visible on their faces.

At that moment, the Female Director of City Hospital arrived and said calmly,

"Dr. Keshav is an extremely talented and genius doctor. We should give him a chance. During his internship alone, he handled several highly critical cases."

She then looked at Bhaskar and added,

"I don't think we need to worry so much."

A doctor interrupted nervously,

"This is exactly why we should worry. If his grandson finds out, he won't spare any of us."

Tina immediately spoke up,

"Then we can say that Dr. Keshav insisted on performing the surgery, and we couldn't stop him. After all, it was Dr. Keshav who agreed to do such a risky operation with a young girl."

She paused and added coldly,

"I think that girl doesn't even know who Mahendra Malhotra really is. If she knew his identity, she wouldn't have dared to show such confidence."

Hatred was clearly visible on Tina's face as she spoke about Nidhi.

Dr. Ram, who had been silently listening to everyone, finally spoke in a firm voice, silencing them all.

"There's no point in discussing this anymore. Let's go and see how they handle this situation."

Saying that, he walked ahead.

Seeing him move, the rest of the doctors followed him quietly.

"Dr. Ram, how can you just watch everything fall apart like this?" one of the doctors said while walking behind him.

"We must do something before Mr. Malhotra arrives."

Meanwhile, Tina turned to a nurse and said,

"There are CCTV cameras inside the operation room. Go and turn them on. I want everything recorded. Later, I want everyone to see that girl being humiliated."

Very soon, the news spread throughout the hospital—

The most difficult and critical surgery was going to be performed by a senior secondary school student.

Everyone was shocked.

No one could understand how such a young girl could handle a case that even senior specialists like Dr. Ram couldn't manage.

To them, it felt like a joke.

Nidhi put on her surgical gown and was completely ready to enter the operation room.

Just then, Tina walked up to her and said coldly,

"I'm just here to remind you—during the previous surgeries, his tissues were badly damaged. His heart is barely surviving on serum support. If you're not careful during the operation, you'll cut into his heart and kill him. And after that… your game will be over."

A cruel smile appeared on Tina's face.

Nidhi smiled back teasingly and replied,

"I'm not like you. I don't make such small, foolish mistakes."

Tina stomped away in anger, muttering to herself,

"Let's see what miracle you can actually pull off."

Who exactly is Mr. Malhotra, the man everyone fears?

Why is Nidhi so confident about this surgery?

How did she become a medical genius at such a young age?

Did Nidhi just gamble with her own life by stepping into the operation room?
